Who doesn't like hearing that Pavlovian "ding!" occasionally though?  Vanity? Pfft!  If you've got it, flaunt it, I say!  Kind of like having 1602 badges or something, right? 🤪

 

In all seriousness, though, I just keep that sucker counting and it tells me how much (maybe too much) I've been playing my faves instead of trying out new things.  I've yet to have anyone comment negatively, although my highest is "only" just now breaking into  the 300s.  I DO alt... just not a whole lot.

this game needs a serious overhaul of its’ leveling experience. Right now it’s outdated trash, not like endgame is expansive, it’s definitely not, but it sure beats, “Beat up 10 of X in zone and talk to random contact here”. Which tends to be a good deal of the leveling. 
 

You still can go through this and be dogshit at the game too, in fact a good deal of some of the worst players I’ve experienced have never touched AE. It’s why I never waste time PuG’ing 4*, as while it’s not difficult, people really struggle with the basics of this game to where i don’t trust the gamble. 

 

Um, the low levels are there to help you learn how to play the AT / game...If you don't like being low level (and have a grip on the game), then people will happily PL you more often than not. It's not until like 20ish that things start to slow down when solo, IIRC.

Surprisingly, low levels does a serviceable job in teaching you what common sense and a 1st grade reading level could with CoH. Im not joking. 
 

It doesn’t teach you the important things like the rule of 5(you may not know about this, it’s a relatively not talked about topic) jousting, the literal bare minimum amount of MMO tactics like positioning(for the few instances it pops up).

 

So in reality, you COULD PL to 50 and play better than someone who leveled organically if you have any gaming experience and some common sense and reading ability. 
 

I have 25 50s organically and 25 from pre shutdown, plus 78 50s from farming. The low levels need to keep being revamped. Some of the newer stuff is really good! So keeping that momentum would be great and expanding to the 30’s would be ideal.

I think when you find a group of folks who make things more fun, racking up vet levels is pretty mindless. (easy)
I also think afk farmers can easily rack up countless levels while they do something else. But it's pretty simple to tell the difference between someone who really enjoys playing their character outside of the farms, look at their badge count in conjunction with the vet levels. As a general rule, anyway.
