Fellow City of Heroes Players:

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of Repeat Offenders' beloved leader, @Alty, Stacie Pinkett.

RO member @Ceejer had located her death notice.

RIP Stacie Pinkett (1970 December 22 Tuesday -- 2025 January 27 Monday)
https://www.hollywoodlanews.com/stacie-pinkett-dead/

Alty was pivatol in the first generation of Repeat Offenders.  In August 2005, she and others brought together their Supergroups to create this beautiful coalition to enjoy City of Heroes even more.  To have friends to share play and thoughts and dreams and laughter.

I've know Alty since I joined RO in 2006.  So much life.  She loved City of Heroes, loved the great and small details of this other life that is a vital part of our experience.  She helped make RO a wonderful community within our greater and marvelous City.

After Shutdown, Alty was critical in keep RO going.  She assisted many to connect to Homecoming in a City of Heroes Renaissance.  She worked to make this renewed City a new home for us all.

Gone now, we remember.  Alty was a part of all RO is.  She loved this game.  It gave her a place to make her mark, to help in little ways and grand ones.

Life always ends too soon.  As we feel the sorrow of her absence, we should remember the love and joy Alty shared with us all.

On Saturday, April 26th, 2025, Repeat Offenders will hold a wake for Alty, celebrating her life with RO.

This post is a copy of one on the RO forums that can be read without an RO forums login.
https://www.repeat-offenders.net/forum/topic/20488-wake-for-alty-2025-april-26-saturday-everlasting-echo-galaxy-city-check-1st-post-for-timings/

Pass on this message to as many Repeat Offenders and long time City Players as you can reach.

The wake will be on the Everlasting Shard, where Alty spent most of her time on Homecoming.

The wake will be in Echo: Galaxy City, in the courtyard in front of the Freedom Corp HQ, where Back Alley Brawler used to stand.

The date is the week after Easter.  This puts it well clear of any Time Zone changes to/from Daylight Saving / Summer Time in all Time Zones.

Timing is challenging, as there are RO members at least across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

The wake will start between 22h00 UTC and 22h15 UTC.  Around the world, that'll be:

    North America PDT 15h00
    North America EDT 18h00
    Europe UK BST 23h00

The following Time Zones will be early on Sunday, April 27th, 2005.

    Europe CEST 00h00
    Australia Perth AWST 06h00
    Australia Melbourne AEST 08h00
    New Zealand NZST 10h00

Please join Repeat Offenders as we celebrate our beloved leader.

I don't think I ever ran into Alty on Homecoming.

I was a member of the RO back before the Sunset (ran with multiple RO supergroup teams), and I recall her going by the name of @AltoholicMonkey or some such.

It was great group of people, and I had fun gaming with them. I'm unsure how many of the teams/groups that I played with that Alty was actually playing in.

We did used an in-game global channel to recruit/get teams together across the servers. And, when one of the Repeat Offenders teams wasn't running, others would often recruit for a team on whatever server we were on using the channel. People in the RO tended to have a bunch of characters across multiple servers.

I can't say that I knew Alty well, but I know she will be missed by those that were still able to game with her.

I'm sorry to hear of her passing. She seemed to me to be very good person in general.

There was no SG politics or drama. It was just getting together to play on themed teams with people that wanted to have a good time adventuring in the City.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Alty was short for @Altoholic_Monkey, which may have been was her handle on the pre-Shutdown forums.

Repeat Offenders is running on Homecoming much as we did pre-Shutdown.  Global channel is "Repeat Offenders".  Mostly on the Everlasting Shard.

Your characterization of RO is spot on, as it was pre-Shutdown and as it is now.  There's usually always someone from RO on and in the channel.  The active members are the ones who chat more often.  😺

While digging around in my links to the Olde Forums (via the Wayback Machine), I discovered these I'd found and saved a while back:

Alty's profile back then, @Altoholic_Monkey:

https://web.archive.org/web/20120904055043/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/member.php?u=359630

2nd page of a post discussing the winners of the 2010 Loading Screen Contest back in 2010:

Alty's reply is the 2nd on the page.  She won a runner up prize.  I remember Alty submitting for the contest.  I can't remember for which Zone she got the runner up.

The Wake for Alty, Repeat Offenders' late leader, will be held in Echo: Galaxy City on Everlasting Shard.  Timings as above in this post, starting between 22h00 and 22h15 UTC when the Sun rises in Echo: Galaxy City.

For those who need guidance to get to Echo: Galaxy City, details in the spoiler.

Spoiler

Start off in Pocket D on the Redside.  By the Vault beyond Null the Gull, there'll be RO member @Psyonico's 2nd account Radiation Toon providing an Ouroboros Portal.

Alas, Praetorians won't be able to get to Echo: Galaxy City.  Pure Villains will be able to talk to Null the Gull and convert to another Alignment so they can enter Echo: Galaxy City.

Touch the Ouroboros Portal to be taken there.

There we see my 2nd Account Fiery Aura Brute Jacke2 Rubra having just arrived in Ouroboros.  To get to Echo: Galaxy City, go to the back behind the tower by one of the side-balconies to access the Ouroboros Echo Teleporter.

Here's Jacke2 Rubra heading around to the right side-balcony.

And at the back, the Ouroboros Echo Teleporter.  Touch it to go to Echo: Galaxy City.

Once in Echo: Galaxy City (like my 2nd Account Fiery Aura Brute Jacke2 Rubra), head to Freedom Court.

screenshot_250414-05-03-58.thumb.jpg.6b3431998fc309a42c430ce88696963f.jpg

Look for Jacke2 Rubra as below.  Where he is will be where arriving Toons should cluster, waiting for the Wake to start.

screenshot_250414-05-05-03.thumb.jpg.68b7c10ad3578019059b9e9c858e8bb9.jpg

The Wake will start between 22h00 and 22h15 UTC (see this post for other Time Zones) upon local sunrise in Echo: Galaxy City.

When starting, Jacke2 Rubra will move to where Toons should move and wait to speak, along the North Side of Freedom Court, either the larger Lower Plaza or the smaller Upper Plaza, depending on the numbers.

I will be on my main Jacke Dark, here with Jacke2 Rubra.

screenshot_250416-06-18-58.thumb.jpg.f51b4efa4c824e30b06e31ebb97ecf87.jpg

During the Wake, due to the size of Freedom Court, we will chat in Broadcast, as Local doesn't have the range to cover the entire Court.  This will also mean once late arrivals enter the Zone, they will be able to see the chat.

I will speak first on Jacke Dark, briefly chatting on Broadcast about how Alty touched my life.  Right before I start chatting, Jacke2 Rubra will start flying to get screenshots of the Wake.

Once I finish my brief remarks, then Jacke Dark will move to one of the set of Steps and in silence use the emote /em holdtorch to raise a torch in memory of Alty.

In succession, the other Players will then come up to where Jacke Dark stood while chatting, face North-West to face both those Players on the North Side who haven't spoken, as well as those on the Steps holding torches, and then briefly chat on Broadcast about how Alty touched their lives.  On finishing, each will move to the steps where Jacke Dark is and join us in silence in /em holdtorch to raise a torch in memory of Alty.

Late arrivals should join those waiting on the North Side of Freedom Court.  If we are all on the Steps, join us in silence in /em holdtorch to raise a torch in memory of Alty.

When all who wish to talk have spoken, any remaining Players who wish to mourn in silence should come to the steps and join us in /em holdtorch to raise a torch in memory of Alty.

We will have a time of silent contemplation.  Then I will thank everyone who came to the Wake to celebrate the life of Alty.  We will then continue.  I intend to join other Repeat Offenders in running one or two of the many Task Forces in City, the game and the place that Alty loved and worked to make better for us all.
