Title blacked out

Whenever I check with a local trainer, my character's title text has defaulted to black on black.  I can change it back to the colours it should be but after logging and returning it resets again.  I have seen other characters with the same problem.  Anyone know a fix?

Have you tried /chatsave  (and /chatload) and also /optionsave ( /optionload) ?

Did the /chatsave then /chatload on returning.  Did same with /optionsave and /optionload.

No good.  I'll just remember to go straight to a trainer when I log on.  Can't have people thinking "The Ultimate Gerbil" is just "Gerbil".  Would be bad for his morale.

On the other hand, one-word names tend to show ultimate or legendary status: Elvis, Cher, Pele, Fabio, Plato, Prince, Snarky, etc.

Are you sure that it's resetting when you log in and not just resetting when you open the title selection window?

I have wondered but cannot tell, it's like trying to see what is behind my reflection in the mirror...

I sometimes see other characters with black smudges for titles so I think it really does happen.  Difficult to explain it to them as they fly by.  Will try finding someone to ask but I am usually on when population is very low.  Maybe the Friday night players can tell me.

Go into your options and select always show player name and you will see your own name and titles as they appear to others  (I assume).

 

I noticed quite a while ago that every time I asked a trainer to let me pick a title, the already chosen stuff is black. Been that way for a  long time. I just reselect, it's annoying but *shrug*.

 

I run with 'always show player name' on all my alts, I just like to see them. 🙂

You have to shatter the mirror to see what is behind it!

When you set your title, you also set the colour of its text.

The Title Change window can be brought up anywhere with the "/titlechange" Slash Command (underscores are optional).

 

There are 2 colour widgets, similar to the colour widgets in the Supergroup Base Editor.  Here's my Toon having just opened the Title Change window.

 

 

^^^ I've not accessed the Title Change window since starting this game client, else there would be little rectangles on the colour widgets where the last settings were.

 

Note that both the Primary Color (for the upper part of the text) and the Secondary Color (for the lower part of the text) are both set to black to begin with (clicked on the left end of the lower left block on both colour widgets).  Note you can just see through the Title Change window my Toon's current title, which had both colours bright green.

 

Set the hue (colour) on the top part of each widget, except black and white are set on the lower left block, and set the brightness on the bottom right scale part of each widget.

 

 

^^^ Here I've set the hue of both to red.

 

 

^^^ Here I've set the brightness of both to bright.

 

 

^^^ Here I am with a bright red title.

 

 

^^^ Here I am setting the title back to bright green.

 

 

^^^ And done.  You can experiment with different hues and brightness on both widgets, see how you like them.
