Muyke Posted Friday at 03:30 PM Posted Friday at 03:30 PM I had fun with a Claws/Regen Brute a while back, I'm a massive noob when it comes to builds. Does anyone with experience have a recommendation for a good solo build? I'd like something with DM/Claws/SS as the primary. Or would a tanker be better? Thanks to anyone taking the time to respond.
Doc Spectre Posted Friday at 10:20 PM Posted Friday at 10:20 PM Dark Melee works particularly well with secondary set that have a decent defence component like Invulnerability, Shield, SR, Energy Aura, Stone and Ice. Personally I like Dark Melee/ Invulnerability, it makes a very sturdy solo combination. The to-hit debuff secondary effect from Dark Melee synergies well with the defensive sets. 1

This might be good advice for the OP as a newbie, but be aware that the -to-hit from Dark eventually becomes largely redundant on a dedicated defense set, as you hit softcap without needing to rely on Dark. That said, if you're at a point in your play where you aren't going deep on set bonuses, the synergy is real.

Some straight forward options for 'good solo build': Dark Melee / Shield Defense or Super Reflexes Claws / Super Reflexes Super Strength / Invulnerability or Shield Defense or Fiery Aura Super Strength / Fiery Aura is a classic way to learn brooting. (Level 24 and level 26 opening Burn and Foot Stomp) Invulnerability and Shield can be tougher Spoiler Just my opinions for newer folks looking to Broot: Primary Power Sets (good straight forward colored) Battle Axe Broad Sword Claws Dark Melee Dual Blades Electrical Melee Energy Melee Fiery Melee Ice Melee Katana Kinetic Melee Martial Arts Psionic Melee Radiation Melee Savage Melee Spines Staff Fighting Stone Melee Street Justice Super Strength Titan Weapons War Mace Secondary Power Sets (good straight forward colored, a little more involved colored) Bio Armor Dark Armor Electric Armor Energy Aura Fiery Aura Ice Armor Invulnerability Radiation Armor Regeneration Shield Defense Stone Armor Super Reflexes Willpower 1 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) arcane Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) The only reasons to play a Brute over another superior melee AT are: (1) To play the tankiest type of /Energy Aura available (2) To play the tankiest type of /Regeneration available (3) To play the scrappiest type of Super Strength/ available If none of these three options describes your primary intent, play a different melee AT.
