i broke the character creator button... :(

well, apparently if one has 1000 characters on a shard and you try to make another you get a nice pop up that tells, with no spaces in-between words, that you have hit your character limit...

 

 

but! if you are a serial altoholic *cough* and transfer an alt to another shard, because the Hyperpotamus (NO! it's taken and it is an IP!!!! 😭) desperately needs to brought to life, and whilst in the middle of the character transfer, you try to open the character creator before the transfer is acknowleged as completed, you will be told you have no more room on the shard and politely asked if you would like to visit the store, presumably to purchase more character slots... alas i was not taken to a store and i cannot purchase more to exceed 1000 alts for my preferred shard.

so, i only broke the character creation button... it does not want to work at all.

Wanted to see if the last slot was open if it still did that to see where it's tied.  Hmm, that might be in the old code....

So something about the line "48 minus base slots plus VIP adjusted being less that player count" is suspected not to be counting correct.  Note this is the SCORE code, not current HC code.

ha ha! well if i am getting messages about redeeming global slots and directed to the store, i doubt it has been fiddled much by HC... 🙂

Depends on what variable was changed to increase the number to 1,000 slots.

I would delete Playerslot.txt file offline then load game and see if that corrects it. That file has been known to be easily corrupted causing missing characters, etc, could be your issue.

well that fixed the character creator button problem, except now i have 1000 characters in a different order than they were...

but it appears that lemming was right... it moved the last empty slot to the last space and that made the difference.

this was the problem and it is replicable. i reset the playerslot.txt file and it moved everything so that 1000th slot was open. then the character creator button worked, when i moved the 999th alt into the 1000th slot it failed to work again. you were absolutely on the right track and i had not checked what you had said, and had the intention of trying that out too... 🙂

the file was not corrupted, but it showed what the problem was... @lemming was on the right track... i put back the old playerslot.txt and freed up the last slot, and it opened like it should. if i displace an alt into the 1000th slot the button does not work.
