Uncle Shags Posted May 22 Posted May 22 How much damage is that?! Long story short, I pulled two or three groups of Longbow and almost crapped myself when my health dropped unexpectedly. I looked at my stats and my smashing resistance was at -158%! So I looked it up and of course longbow has all sorts of -res attacks. Which is fine. The game should be challenging. I was being reckless - I don't have much resistance debuff resistance so I was asking for it. I just hadn't encountered that much -res before. I guess the question I have is: How much damage is that?! Let's say an attack does 100 damage to me with my normal 50% smashing resistance. How much would it do if I had -158% smashing resistance? One MILLION?!
Vanden Posted May 22 Posted May 22 It's about 158% more damage than normal 1 A Cheat Sheet for efficient Endurance Recovery slotting Invention Set Designer Tool Spreadsheet with every Ancillary Power Pool

Uncle Shags Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 God I'm bad with math... So my napkin tells me to add the 50% to the 158%. 100% more would be double, so 200% would be triple. So 100 dmg becomes 316 dmg? I think?

So 100 dmg becomes 316 dmg? I think? You’ve got to kind of work backwards… so with 50% resistance if you get hit for 100 damage, that means with 0% resistance you would have gotten hit for 200 damage. now you can take that 200 damage and multiply it by 158% giving you… 316 damage. yes, your way works too. Math is hard. and don’t forget, resistance resists resistance debuffs. So at 50% resistance, you resist 50% of resistance debuffs 1 What this team needs is more Defenders
Uun Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Math notwithstanding, you should be aware that Longbow Wardens that have an unresistible version of Enervating Field. If you're faced with a Warden with Radiation powers, kill them immediately. Uuniverse
Uncle Shags Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 (edited) It could be worse. Word on the street is, when you go into negative for defense you're not only auto hit, you also hit yourself for extra damage. Edited May 24 by Uncle Shags 2 1

To be serious though, double pulls of Longbow are especially dangerous to my fave Rad Armor tankers *because* of having no defense or defense debuff resistance. Not because of their -res but because of their mezzes. Enough of those popping off at once AND hitting me (see: no defense) means they can stack enough to break mez protection, even on a tanker. This is a great advantage high defense toons have because a lot of those mezzes miss. The -res is mostly no big deal if you have 100% smash resist. But the radiation-using Wardens have Enervating Field, which is tagged as not resistible. That means even with 100+% res, you can be debuffed by it. If they are +4/+5 to you, it's bad. Very bad. You can lose 40ish percent resistance from just one of them. Same goes for the radiation using Paragon Protectors in Crey missions (e.g. Manticore TF). There isn't much I run from in this game, but those guys scare me. If I get toggled by one of their Enervating Fields, I run away to drop it.

I mean, in a sense. 0% defense (our natural state) actually means we have a 50% not to be hit. We are just so used to that 50% status that we don't actually notice it. When we are in the negatives and mobs hit every single time we notice it pretty fast. That's why we push to 45% to have 95% not to be hit. 50% base plus the 45% = 95%. - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
