A Return...and Kudos to the Developers

After being absent for probably several years, I tried launching the game (Tequila) and alas, no luck. I was sad, fearing that the game was no longer supported. After a quick google, it brought me back to the forum where I found the new launcher. After downloading and installing it, it quickly identified the Tequila install, allowing me to keep my account and characters. I just had to log in to each character to keep the names (a very sensible policy) and there were my old characters again. It was like seeing long lost friends. Kudos to the developers for making that transition so effortless. Everything I needed to know was right here in the forums. Well done to all and thank you!

All your Toons exist on the HC Shards, not locally on your own computer.  They're located via the Game Username and Game Password you used to log into the Game Client Program (which connects to the HC servers over the Internet).

Glad I am that you utilized Google this time rather than Bing and it's groupies like Duck, Duck, Go.   We've been having a problem with their algorithm deliberately ignoring the Homecoming forums.

Ugh... Choosing between Google and Microsoft is like choosing between the Galactic Empire and the Borg.

 

DDG, which repackages Bing results, at least tries to be a little respecting of your privacy, but you still feel like you've lost out.

To be honest, Tequila has only not worked for a few days.  I know they said they're going to stop supporting the Tequila launcher.  Is that now or do we need to wait a few days for Tequila to start working again?

To be fair, they asked people to stop using Tequila in January of 2024 and the launcher was up and running for quite some time before that.

Tequila is working again, so it's not broke.  I'm not going to fix it.

But it is broke due to some security holes with it.   It's limping along and it's a low risk, but that's why it got replaced.   And the launcher is better than tequila at least for HC.
