Thread from earlier in the week seems "gone": Dual-Boxing PVE

Hi. Earlier this week, I made a post: "Dual-Boxing PVE".

 

Now, it seems to be gone. (I did not delete it or such). 

 

A handful of minutes ago, I had logged into my online account and then I saw an unread "notification". Another person had referenced me in the thread. 

 

When I clicked on that person, I got a message that I do not have access. Then I perused through "General Discussion" section and I also searched with "keywords" for this now "missing" post. The post/thread seems wiped...

 

 

So, anyone know what happened?

The thread likely went sideways (not necessarily any fault of yours). It might pop back after being cleaned up.

Yeah this aint Discord, or even Reddit. Things are a little more, hmm shall we say curated around here. Now Im not saying this is a good or a bad thing, but yeah im not shocked. Once a thread turns into unabashed "this is how I completely said FU to the CoC for a whole year and dont feel a single bit of shame about it". Not saying it was you....but anyone following that thread knows why it was nuked.

 

Again, curated experience here on the forums. More um old school if you will.

I didn't see the thread right before it was 'curated', but it had ventured into a single player admitting violating elements of the ToS, and other players calling them out. I didn't see much rudeness, but I have seen other threads vanish with similar casual mentions of having violated the Terms of Service or Code of Conduct.

It's likely hidden until the mods can trim back the ToS violation/outting and bickering. 

 

Just ping a mod and you'll hear back eventually. I recommend not jumping to conclusions until you hear a from a mod. 

 

Posting a thread about why it was hidden is not likely to provide you with real answers.

I can't recall seeing many posts that were deleted entirely. I've seen quite a few threads locked due to getting off topic or too heated and stuff. But deleted entirely makes me think there was stuff there the admins don't want publicly seen, and likely for good reason.

I have seen plenty over the years, unfortunately.  Mostly for the reason you mentioned.

As @ShardWarrior noted: it is not at all uncommon.... typically it is direct insults and/or replies quoting direct insults, or posts relating to (or admission of) violation of terms of service/code of conduct. Rarely... I've seen posts/threads hidden that implicate or accuse moderator(s) for specific behavior (including instances of  inaction or perceived hypocrisy), but I take those hidings to be more of a sort of "mods can see it, there is no reason for the hoi polloi to see it". Players can of course hide their own posts.

 

Far more common is a thread getting locked. I suppose the excuse is "it's all been said", but given how often certain topics get started from fresh I think a better description of why some threads get locked is "a mod was interested in the thread, but has gotten tired of reading posts by the same two people."
