DWRoelands Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Played waaaay back in beta and launch, and I dabbled with Homecoming here and there. Are there any guides for players who solo a lot? I assume that most established groups won't have lots of time for low-level characters.
Glacier Peak Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Welcome back, what kind of guide for solo players are you looking for?  Either way, I'd recommend starting here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/44-guides/ 1 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Best Post Ever....Â
Scarlet Shocker Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Welcome back  I'd suggest start at Outbreak and take it from there.  It's hard to know what to suggest without further info about how you like to play. You can skip a lot of low levels with a few DFB runs (not solo) but then you can be up to doing whatever it is you want. 1   I learned early on that chemistry is just like cooking. From there I worked out that a mixture of Barium, Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen between two slices of bread gives you a delicious BaCON sandwich Â

Most groups on Homecoming, established and otherwise, tend to be quite welcoming to new or low-level players. So there is no need for a guide for that, IMHO. As long as you show a wee bit of effort to contribute to the group - socially as well as adding DPS/debuffs/buffs/orsomethingelse to the group's battles - most people will be happy to have you along. That is the benefit of being a low-population game: We kind of can't afford to be too elitist if we want someone to team with 🙂  You won't be a low-level character for very long, as the exp flows generously in this game. That being said, you can look in the Guides section for The Good Missions Guide and its redside twin The Mean Missions Guide. Those give some good suggestions for which story arcs to play when you do decide to solo instead of teaming. 1
Six-Six Posted December 8 Posted December 8 If you prefer solo play, the best advice I can give is to have a browser page constantly open with Homecoming.wiki on it. Gameplay-wise, you can solo any archetype or power set. Of course, some do better than others, and some feel better than others. It all boils down to your preference and the length of your patience bar. Content-wise, you may have to disable XP every now and then because it is easy to out-level contacts, especially on blue side where there are more contacts than Red or Gold. Alternatively, you can go back to missed contacts and missions through Ouroboros crystal. Right after character creation, you'll come across the P2W vendor (even in Outbreak, Breakout, and Gold side beginner's tutorial). She carries a few things that might be to your liking. Finally, keep in mind that the game gives you a wide berth in terms of how you want to play. There is no right or wrong way to do things. What works for you is the best, as long as you're not an ass-hat to others while you do it. Additionally, the game community is one of the nicest among the games I've played... probably because most of us are, ourselves, ancient. Enjoy. 1

Marine X Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I did create a small guide for Solo "Task Force Commander" badge a while back... The sidekick/lackey system makes it both easy and rewarding for toons of any level to play together. It's very common to find max level players running low level content. As long as you meet the minimum level requirement to participate, people will be happy to have you.  I recommend creating a separate tab in the chat window specifically for the "Looking for Group" channel. There's always someone recruiting for group content there. If solo play is your preference (As opposed to something you expect to do because teams won't be available), you can open the "Contacts" tab on the navigation pane at the top of the screen and click "Find Contact." That'll show a rotating list of story arc contacts appropriate for your level range.  Good luck and have fun! 1 You wanna play Peacebringer?😒 Fine, but at least check out this guide first: Peacebringers STILL SUCK!!! (v. 1.1)
8 Ball Posted December 9 Posted December 9 (edited) Welcome back, honestly the servers are pretty lowbie friendly, so many DFB's/DIB's and TF's being run that a team at any level isn't that hard to find...Lots of PI paper mission teams aren't all that discerning either. Edited December 9 by 8 Ball Global - @8 Ball on Excelsior
