Tipsy Posted Saturday at 03:41 AM Posted Saturday at 03:41 AM Hi there. I've returned to the game after quite a long time. Pleased with the progress of Homecoming. As I look through my old characters, it struck me that I should make a new one with my return. I'm quite familiar with most of the core CoH game, have some years clocked in. I know the classic roles and all the archetypes and all the non-new powersets. What I'm looking is for something that might play a DIFFERENTLY than the usual. While that sentence is no doubt vague, what I mean is concept build that are gimmicky, but still relatively effective. Or perhaps something often overlooked that's actually kind of cool. (sort of like the way people don't like Storm's knock back, but it's still interesting.) I guess I'm not 100% sure what I'm asking for, but hoping some of you experienced weirdos will have some novel suggestions.

MonteCarla Posted Saturday at 07:32 AM Posted Saturday at 07:32 AM Some other things I've tried on Live/HC: MA/SR Stalker with no mez protection, capped defences and Kinetic Combat Chance for KD or Stupefy Chance for KB in my attacks. Enter combat on your terms, keep enemies juggled, and live in fear of mez, just like a non-powered Batman type should! START Vendor Stun Grenades are a plus. Probably best done solo. 🙂 Arachnos Soldier just using the base powersets, so a very capable leader with a gun. Electric/Electric Blaster with Power Transfer Chance to Heal in every attack, so you heal as you fight. Not super effective, but noticeable. Ice/Nature Controller built to do very little damage, so you really need to team at all times. Any Archery character - put the Stupefy Chance for KB in Stunning Shot and refer to it as your Boxing Glove Arrow. It looks great! (Slot the whole set - the bonuses are very good.) And Force Field Defenders capped to all who positions - "the Sentinel who buffs", and badass Empaths who can fight and survive are always fun for me. Guides are in my sig. This was my first VEAT to 50 and is still my favorite VEAT. I did technically cheat and go bane, but only for the stealth power. 1 What this team needs is more Defenders

I build mine with softcap ranged defense. This is a 100% ranged character. Rare. It is DAMNED powerful. All Corruptors are “S” class teammates. This is no exception. Tar Patch and a Nuke rain Blizzard + Ice storm. Mine uses an epic with ST hold for 3 ST holds. Tasty. Hard hitting ST and AoE chains, debuffs, ST holds. All ranged. Very unusual playstyle in CoH 1
Lusiphur Malache Posted Saturday at 01:32 PM Posted Saturday at 01:32 PM Mostly pool powers are something a lot of people are trying. I tried to make a rageless Tanker, I failed, but maybe you can pull it off. Maybe a Mastermind with only minion pets.

Scarlet Shocker Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM 15 hours ago, MonteCarla said: Arachnos Soldier just using the base powersets, so a very capable leader with a gun. That's an amazing toon. I had one of those on live and have recreated it here Quote Electric/Electric Blaster with Power Transfer Chance to Heal in every attack, so you heal as you fight. Not super effective, but noticeable. That's interesting to me. For reasons which should be obvious OP hasn't said what kind of AT or style they prefer to play but personally I'm a big fan of Controllers as a great AT with lots of mitigation and some very quirky mixes. I'm also a big fan of Poison as a debuff set and given it is primarily single target, pairing it with a set with plenty of AoE works nice. Plant/Poison, Dark/Poison work very well. Plant/TA is also very potent and quirky Some more input from the OP would be welcome to help refine his/her choices I learned early on that chemistry is just like cooking. From there I worked out that a mixture of Barium, Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen between two slices of bread gives you a delicious BaCON sandwich
