AmishJustice Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I'm struggling with costume ideas for my heroic toon, "The Passive Voice" an Illusion/Sonic controller. As a schtick, he speaks only in passive voice ("A state of readiness is attained by me"), and is something of a pacifist. Other than the peace symbol chest detail, what other costume pieces do you suggest I embrace?
Some Random User Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) There is a lot to work with in-character, but how would you costume beyond covering yourself in padding? You're not going to be attacking for harm anyway. Edited August 8, 2019 by Some Random User typo
mrinku Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Hood and robe/cape might work, to hide the eyes and seem self-effacing. Within the hood, you could use a mask that covers the upper face to make it looked shadowed.
Clave Dark 5 Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 (edited) I'd go for robes, baggy tops and trousers, that sort of thing to suggest "soft" shapes, no armors probably. Hoods was a good suggestion up there from mrinku. And muted colors/earthtones. Heraclea Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Now I am tempted to create an entire roster of characters named after grammar things. DoctorHugh Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Hmmm, not sure what the character's best costume options would be, other than things that look like they might alter/affect voice, and perhaps be a bit grey and aloof looking. But his nemesis definitely needs to look like a grade 10 English teacher, grey hair, bun, horn-rim glasses, armed with a ruler and a sharp piece of chalk. Battle cry: "The passive voice is weak! Use Active! Use Active!" <whack!>
ChairKicker Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 The French version of the Rogues gallery is going to be amazing and terrifying all at once. 1 Part-time table flipper Global: Skathi the Huntress

Not exactly grammar related, but more literary.
biostem Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I know this seems way out in left field, but I almost kind of picture this character as an 18th or 19th century writer - perhaps something like a Victorian-era inspired suit or dress...
