@BrandX thanks for sharing your build. Lot of useful things there for planning. My question is: you are placing superion ATO in Lightning Field just to get the set proc triggering often as possible? Is this correct? Thanks!

Hello everyone! Since i got back to CoH i got 25 lvl 50s but only 2 scrappers : Staff/Rad (super fun and tankie) and my TW/Elec. I remember i decided to tear down my TW/Elec due low survavility mostly for the huge cool down time that Elec heal (Energize) has. I would like to give this character one more chance to get back into CoH life. So i was wondering what would be a good approach when i start to plan a build on Mids for this guy? Softcap resist and or softcap defences? Go for an insane + rech bonus to cut drastically elec heal CD? If not also grab Medicine power pool (i dont like this) for a better survavility? If you have any advices on what would be a good strategy for planning a build for this TW/Elec that will be appreciated. Im open to hear ideas even if you advice is to delete this character because is an awful combo. Thanks in advance for any feedback / thoughts about this.

After i made my Mind/Ice for LRSF, back on those days i remember made a Fire/Thorn Dominator to farm the Family map in GV, That Dominator was fairly quick in comparition to fire Brutes. Today i have Dark/Rad, Ice/Energ, Mind/Dark, Plant/Martial, Ill/Ice and Elec/Elec. Got plans for a Stone/Fire next.

Hello everyone! Checking al my lvl 50s i realized i got only one corruptor so i decided to create other one. Back on Live used to have a Fire/Rad really fun AT to play with. I try always to not repeat powersets choices accross all my characters so i saw Seismic was there to pick for Corruptors and give it a try. Seismic when solo is a strong set. It pairs nice with Radiation due -Def inherents in the set. The Knockbacks helps a lot with your survavility. The problem i see so far is Metheor. When you click on Metheor and the explosion happens the massive knockback of the npcs is just to annoying if you are on a team. Your tank and melee partners will hate you for life if you use it. About Radiation there is not much to say. The set is great for teaming with the group auto heal on. You bring some of the best deffubs in game and also the best slow. AM is great endurance buff . The only problem i see is Fallout and EM Pulse that are very situational powers to pick. I skipped both i dont find them any use on my playstyle. However if anyone got a good take on these 2 powers would be nice to read some suggestions. Hit 38 yesterday and so far im having fun with this combo. If anyone got a good experience with Seismic and would give some feedback / thoughts that would be nice to read.

You are right... all the powers in /Storm are really useful. My build is made for teaming mostly on TFs were Stealth is a must for some speed runs. You defenitily should try this powersets combo. It shines solo and teaming and besides that can go GM / AV hunting.
-
Here my Ill/Storm taking down Sunstorm (Hero / AV). I know this Hero is one of the easiest to solo but you will have an idea what these two powersets combined can accomplish. Also soloed the Ghost of Scrappyard with this charater. You cant go wrong with this combo!

Im interested in this combo... would you mind to post your build? Thanks!

I tried the pet for a few lvls and didnt like it all, not only for what it offers on attacks, also because i dont understand how it fits on the Symphony theme other than the name "Reverb". Theme wise i would prefer a pet called Echo stacking -def debuffs and holds or 3/4 little pets as the Imps called Orchestra (instead of imps i would suggest animated musical instruments as violins, trumpets etc) using small soundwaves on targets. My 2 cents.

Need a secondary for dark. Energy? More Dark? The mysterious Other?
serxiom replied to Random Axis's topic in Dominator
/energy is a ST burst secondary. The DPS output is impressive in a Dom and also the releasing energy mechanic is great for a dps chain. /dark is a different animal. Doesnt have the burst but you have some good ST powers and more important a single ST heal that is helpful not to add the inherent -to hit. When i build my dominators my priorities are: a) Recharge Permadom b) Sofcap Def (Ranged mostly + Melee + AoE as much as you can). Due Defense softcap i always pick Psionic Mastery for two reasons: 1- Mind Over Body: A decent Shield +Resist toggle that helps taking hits if something goes through my defense. 2- Link Minds what stacks with your +Def and having a good amount of +Rech you preety much have the +Def bonus from this power permanent. My main Dominator is a Dark/Rad ( i have other 7) and running the Psionic Mastery + Incarnates is on 55% Ranged Defense... pretty much untouchable for +4 content. -
Just hit Lvl 50 with my Beam/Ninja a few days ago. After the IOs build was completed i must say... wow. What a nice blaster! but more when teaming. Fighting in range and dropping NPCs mobs with Overcharge is so fun. Also having Golden Dragon Fly + Smoke Flash if a Lt or a Boss gets in melee range and just finish them quickly. Ive done my research on this forum about Ninja trainning and i must say even if the set is a step below the top sets Ninja is not garbage as many people said in other posts. Is not top damage but can handle +4 Bosses effectivily. Sure doesnt have power boost or a second aim but in trade you have some suvavility tools and placate that gives you the chance of a +crit. The set mechanic is fun and very decent. The only thing i wish is if i could effectivily slot Blinding Power and Smoke Flash but is impossible if you go for +def softcap. So far this combo besides fun is effective on TFs and Trials. Is not powerful as a Fire Blaster but it helps a lot with the -def -regen inherents coming from Beam mostly on long AVs fights.

And summon them checking where possible the knocback effect will go... otherwise you might pull aggro 2-3 groups. I agree with you: Illusion set is fun to play and is a below troller version due pet pechanics and control. I went with Ill/Ice combo ( i like secondaries with PB) and i had a good time leveling with him. Defenitly Illusion is one of my 4 favorite dominators (i do have a Dark/Rad, Plant/MA and Ice/Enrg). Sometimes is chaotic when you pull all your pets out but the DPS is so good for taking down groups of NPCs. I like the balance that Spectral Terror brings with fear -tohit. Still working on the accolades and finishing incarnates. Very enjoyable toon to play.
-
Illusion on Dominators got PA and PH, Both Pets are way ahead on DPS than Symphony Pet which is weak even if you compare it with Dark control pets. Im not a mathematic in game player but from having 8 dominators i can tell that Illusion as a primary got more DPS than the rest of the other sets. I agree with you the lack of control of Illusion on doms. Having all NPCs bouncing everywhere due knockbaks or not having tha advantage of Pet tauntig as controllers, makes Illusion chaotic in some point but still manageable. Controller Illusion version is superior because got a perfect balance of dps/control and on top of that you can use buff/debuffs from seconday powersets making a Illusion troller more effective than a Dominators for some types of content.
-
I have a Ill/Ice Dominator lvl 50 (working in incarnates atm) and im under the impression that Illusion got more damage output than the rest of the other primaries. I would say is top dps atm for Doms... or im wrong? My top dps dominator was Ice/Energy and it looks this one is pairing the same dps output.
-
I updated Mids yesterday after the Page 5 Release and Illusion for dominators is not available on the planner yet. For now i would advise to check some Illusion Controllers builds as a reference (even the Illusion set for domi is different) but if you check each power of the Illusion set you can realize what +recharge IO`s you can work with. Im leveling a Ill/Ice domi atm and what you can plan is: 2 sets of Bazilisk (for ST Hold and Mass Hold) + 1 confuse set 10% rech + 1 Pet set 6.25% rech + Pet set 10% rech +1 Pet fear set 6.25% rech + 1 Stun Set 10% rech. Im not taking the ST rooting power. For your Assault Powers... well you can check for /dark builds in the forums. Have fun!

Back in the days where LRSF was released and this TF was "THE THING" to beat as end content i was rolling my Enrg/Elec brute. I remember to have access to be part of a LRSF team you have to roll a Stone Tank or a Corruptor mostly. There was not other AT to bring to this TF other than those. So what happened is that a friend playing a Mind/Energy dominator achieved permadom on my server. This was a very early crafting system implementation in game with a few sets available. Between sets and Hamis you could achieve a very tight permadom. My friend Chaos Rift once got his permadom ongoing just broke the whole ending game. He went to LRSF put all the Freedom Phalanx to perma sleep (he was the first to do this in game) and the days of FoTM team to complete LRSF were over. I remember my first time when i saw him doing this while we were running the TF and telling myslef: " I got to roll a dominator... thats the most OP toon i ever seen" So i started with my Mind/Ice and then a bunch of different combos. Dominator is by far my favorite AT since those days. My main now is a Dark/Rad and still enjoy everytime i play with her.

@kiramoni agree PB would work great with -end. However having access to incarnates powers you have a great -end choices that would help to build a perfect zapper. My Elec/Elec is currently running with Agility (end mod Boost) Ion (also -end sec) Preemptive (-end proc) and Storm Elementals (-end sec). So basically whatever i fight gets end drained in no time. The 3 Assault sets available for doms with PB (Earth, Dark and Energy) don't have so much sinergy with Elec primary in my opinion. I see more sinergy pairing Elec with Psionic due Drain Psyche.

Hi! I dont know your inf budget but for an ideal build this one below is what i would aim for. - 2 Gremlins + 1 Mu Guardian pet (Mu is perma and better than Voltaic Sentinel in my opinion) - Permadom +perma hasten - Rangend Defense softcapped - Decent S/L resist - Power Sink to stack with -end secondary effects getting all npcs perma drained Build is expensive but it worth to invest in if you intend to max out your dominator for endgame Villain Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! About 3.4 % depending how you slot it. Why i pick stealth instead Maneuvers? Stealth will allow you: a) quick TFs b)aproach target undetected c) gain access to rest concealment pool that you can use as a LoTG mule if you want to Worth or not worth is about what your main function would be as a dominator. Personally i dont slot -res debuffs in doms, you have defenders/corruptors for that rol. However Achiles triggers very nice and often. Is up to you. I wouldnt sacrifice ranged def at all. I mean you are sitting in 45% which is fine for 50 content but still below ideal def for Incarnate content. You already are at 105% rech not adding the +rech proc in Tremor that will trigger often. My advice... dont go crazy for more recharge, keep your defense as it is. Think in higher Icarnate content.
-
Hi! i dont see he is softcapped... your Melee and AoE Def are 30ish% and your ranged is lower. I see you are Fire/Cold def softcapped and resist softcapped wich is OK but i would rather go positional def instead . Focus to have ranged def above 45%. Im sharing my build which have Link Minds allowing me to reach 53.4% ranged when active good for any +4x8 content with a downtime of 7 secs only. Of course you will need Rebirth to have a decent heal and bounce back. If you want to give it a try and see how it works for you. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1493;710;1420;HEX;| |78DA6594594F135114C7EF6DA72CA5A5EC8B2C2D43D90A94567D5034310414056A9| |AE8A35A4718CB689D92CE60E4D14FA062222A717D30F1C567DC3E83BBF14B2828BE| |D7D3F91F5A9369DAFC7AFFE79C7BFFE79E4E53376602AF666F1E1332349DD32C2B3| |393BF66989A9D2FD4A4566DCD36F2A65708D134A75BAB56E4ECB21E99D50A4BBAA9| |17AA490E97B333D379D32EE473F1744E33EDBD555F253E6559DA6ACE8EA7B4826D6| |8B9BDB5F0A7F354756645D79702CED7055D5B31CC6CA3B338655E372CE3929133EC| |B5A0A39C30B2CB36C5C3C7578CC578DA2283C66226A559B65E5883FB6CE9C00EB23| |7489FD9927DE755F48AAF1E217A14E1F9C6FC012ADFC15BD172AE4F3C220C51EC29| |58F58CA82AC2FF98985444E009F4E473AC6F53ADE45A79195A4D16F42F83BD06F30| |A98BC0ADEA15AD82C2ADE0DEC1BB80FD63F603E041B36C19354E09338CFB7E575F6| |A97A0D36BC019BDE32DF812DEFC13942357BAD3EE781D7F360CB05B02DC3BC08766| |8E03A79AD65AFB587387618DC3709F61D611E05553AAC0E35B26E143D0F32DB2916| |444C048BF41277E98410144F6892A008D1CDEC7D891D17A883469E6A234F35C2538| |DF054233CD5209DD08C9BF234B74A386B01FB77712392725AD945ABE3C24B4A3BAA| |64FB7E64F59704DA3145CB4EBEBFCE2905BD6F62C7E80BE4443D3EAC55D48E6CA15| |F85F6ED62375DEC26C66E62F3C80D514E0FBBE9E19CD3140AF399E16DDCC2D02EF3| |3738B6C3FC0B8EFF01EFD18DAA3C33F5037C8C7D01C73F323F83139FC00DAA19E09| |A8131EC3338CE8CF3B913E04882E74C2319E6C90D3B13F38A11668C594FBD8D726F| |A3DC5B94EAE27C27F15EE9FCBE275466186CA3BA04724482EBBA95F2F34AEFD2D4D| |48A528CB9A20997927429075CCA4197B2E052D24AF9E917D2516A1BCACF74F1A79F| |A2F2FFE8764591720E1DF6F761FABF5CD93B15C5233770D7DD11FE0F59C77A3E56E| |9FC1F07FDFD48| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

Hi! Just moved some stuff around in your build. This one has: - 15% more rech (175% w/hasten) -Switched Maneuvers for Stealth. With your stealth IO in run you are invisible for running quick TF etc -Fire Ball with 1 slott was a waste. So added 4 slots with Positrons for + rech and +dmg -Earthquake was corrected with same rech bonuss but less slots -Ranged Def is 45% a little bit more than your build Other than that didnt touch anything else. @underfyrethanks a lot for sharing so valuable info. Great job doing those numbers. So defenitly ill keep the second build and try it out. I was hoping coming with a different approach with Dark Armor but it s what it is and +Def is the way to go with this set. Thanks a lot for your great feedback.

@oldskool and @underfyre thank a lot for your feedback. Really helped a lot. So i decided to start from scratch and discard the idea of softcap resists. The build below aims to reach softcap defenses Melee S/L + decent Resist S/L/F/C/N/Psy. Rech with Hasten is 150%. I also decided go with Cloak of fear and Dark Epic in order to bring my defenses up and get F/C resist to a decent percentage. I switched ATOs and Purps following @oldskool advices as well. If there is any more inputs or ideas will be appreciated your comments. Thanks a lot! Hello everyone! I have wanted to build a Dark Armor character for a while and come out with this Sentinel build below. I know most of the DA builds aim towards softcapping defenses more than resist. Well i decided to softcap resist S/L/F/C/Psi. In order to sustain this character i choose 2 heals Obscures Sustenance and Warmth from Fire Epic. Also picked Steath + Cloack of Darkness to jump undetected in middle of npcs or skip in TFs (both running together give you invisibility right? i cant remember) So let me know if im totally wrong approaching this way to DA or you think is a viable character for +50 content. Thanks for the help/advise!! Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! No one talked about "need" to softcap ranged. All i said is achievable and no... you will not gimp your build. Probably you should take a look over Doms forums and check sfotcapped builds to confirm none of them are gimped. That you disagree doesnt mean all other choices are wrong or bad. So this build im posting below... how gimped is it considering you have more recharge, S/L and Ranged softcapped? Hi! For me is not perfect. A few things to consider: - Jolting Chain: Sudden Acc Kd to Kb not necessary. This power KD enemies you dont need it to KB unless you intentionally want to do that. - Defense: You softcapped S/L what is OK. Positional Def are around 20%. So you will be taking damage every time no matter where you stand. Your heal procs will not be enough to save you. Im one of the players that awlways softcap S/L and at least Ranged. That allows me to solo groups, EB and stand besides tanks on TFs etc. I would not run a Dominator with the Def like you have atm. - You are not taking Subdue and Psionic Lance. Looks you will be not doing decent DPS for soloing content or execel teaming. So im assuming this dominator is for teaming almost all the time? Looks a mistake on your power choices. -Not slotting for dps in powers ike Chain Fences or Telekinetic Thust. Same as above... your DPS will be an issue. In general: Even you are permahasten you will be lacking on DPS and DEF. So i found your build very hard to play with solo unless you do small groups and dont go beyond +2. EB´s / AV will be a problem for you. On large teams you probably will take too much damage no matter were you standing and i wonder how you are planning to drop Psychic Shockwave if your defenses are that low. So carry purples and oranges and buy some +def temp powers from PW2 vendor thats something you should consider. I think you can build something more balanced able to solo or teaming any content. I hope this observations help you to reconsider your DPS and DEF mostly. Dominators are not all about recharge bonusses. There is more you can accomplish building one. GL!
