  1. That's because they're empty links. There only because I'm doing all the forum code markup manually and it would have been a pain to clean out the text for the example. They'll get filled once I have all 17 pages blocked out and ready to post. I've decided I'm coloring all the section headers yellow. Not sure what else might look good on the forum background for other uses.
  2. Here's the first outline. Section links are obviously blank, but there because I'm formatting, from a text document even. Under Construction! Please direct replies and questions to this forum post until such time as the orange title is removed. Seriously. This is an index of Player Guides, for players, by players. Thank you to everyone that contributes. This is a resurrection of Zombie Man's pre-shutdown Guide to Guides. You can find The undead Guide to the Guides (Zombie Man 4-21-12, I23) on the web archive. Its full of all the pre-shutdown guides that countless players wrote and an excellent resource. This Index will be focused on the material written for the I26 Homecoming servers. 3. Thanks. I'll be starting the data entry now, hopefully have an outline later today and a first pass up in a day or two.
  4. Nuts to that. Crowdsource it for Homecoming!
  5. I went End Mod for Soul Absorption. Gotta keep the gas tank full. For Fade, it improves all defenses but only some resists, so Defense get priority. No idea what the experts would do.
  6. Fascinating, Confront instead of Initial Strike. Does that need the full recharge load to play well, or does it come online with less? I applaud the novelty of a Snipe too. That's the kind of oddball slotting that makes StJ/SD interesting and fun to theorycraft. And provides some potentially cheaper options for sets.
  7. CoH is back, but we're often stuck using guides that have been banished to Astoria [glow=purple,2,300]the Wayback Machine[/glow]. Someone has to step up and provide an index for the new materials being written, so I'll suck it up and do the job. But before I get started clacking away at the keyboard, I need to figure out formatting and make several other decisions. That's where you, true believer, come in. 1) Format: Should I just crib Zombie Man's old formatting and sub divisions? If no, please demonstrate or link to alternate proposal. 2) Greytext placeholders for subjects with no guides? Highlight links like I did above? 3) Link to off site guides or not? (Link to Zombie Man's archived index will be featured regardless.) If this is a yes, I will need others to feed me the links. Indexing 5 pages on the forums here is doable for one. Searching the whole web isn't. 4) What was the format for linking to a specific post within a thread again? I'm an idiot. 5) Do all guides deserve to be indexed? There are some very small, very specific guides that I'm not sure how to index yet. 6) I won't be indexing builds, even popular ones. But if others do, I'll treat those as guides and give them their own section. They're simply too prolific for me to link every one individually. 7) Would anyone want to mirror any of this? We never know when CoH will once again be gone to the Americans, and having a backup somewhere in case the homecoming forum poofs would be nice. 8 ) Should I keep a section for threads/conversations that while not intentional guides are good resources? 9) Add a section for CoH culture? Guides to the lesbian mother father you won and stuff like that. You know, for the kids. Don't expect this to pop up overnight. I won't start till I get some feedback here, and then I'll probably still bring formatting examples round for more feedback.
  8. Here's the mess I've been fooling with. It has lots of room for improvement, but its a starting point. I'll eventually drop Focused Accuracy for Conserve Power and add Tactics for the occasions I'm being fed endurance. And many of the set choices were largely to play around with the odder options SJ/SD has in that regard. Just sub in Mako's and Touch of Death in single target attacks and Obliteration in Shield Charge to softcap. Sweeping Cross is fine to skip, having Shadow Maul type issues, but you may feel you need it while leveling before you get IOs. 11. I'm 49 with my Natural Street Justice/Shield Defense Scrapper, Legislator and stuck on what to do for my final power and last 3 slots. Do I grab thematically appropriate Tactics that I won't have the endurance to run? (And then plan on respecing Focused Accuracy out for Conserve Power some far off day.) A travel power at long last? Injection to thank a Kin for that Speed Boost? Laser Beam Eyes because everyone knows hyu-mons shoot lasers from their peepers and that's practically the only set type I can't already slot? Confront because...? My current build plans get me just short of soft caps with the Alpha slot, so I'm not too worried on that part. I'm more stalled because I don't really need anything but more endurance and every option feels meh. But I need a kick in the asterix to make a choice so I can train up and move on to Incarnate shenanigans. Are there any oddball powers or enhancement sets not normally on a Scrapper I should consider? Also, is Preventative Medicine's Absorb Proc any good? 12. Only one Defender?! *Runs around in indecisive panic*
  13. The advice I was given was pass on Sweeping Cross. I have not missed it at all since respecing it out. Its tiny ae is hard to aim even if you have practice and its end cost is too high for hitting a single target. For Willpower, its the last two powers that are the most skipable. Not bad, just not always useful due to their nature. While leveling get Attuned Enhancements. Overwhelming Force from the Summer Blockbuster holiday queue is a good starter to run at 20. Buy Scrapper AT enh from the Merit Vendor as you can. And when you get influence, buy attuned sets off the /ah as well. Skip the unattuned stuff other than purple sets. Because of SJ's mix of secondary effects you might want to fill out your endredux/rech/acc from sets that aren't damage as a way to get odd set bonuses on the cheap. Focus slots on one power at a time to maximize the effects of your enhancements. Start with an attack, then build up your best defense. From there work to round your build out. After you've played it a while, you'll have a better idea what you want and can respec into a more expensive build with more potential.
  14. As long as one of your oft used prompts triggers auto-hasten you should be able to mix in all sorts of powers just using the auto bind. You'll just miss perfect hasten once in a while if you leave off with the wrong auto. Otherwise try replacing the toggle command with a powexec_name command and it will attempt to fire the power right away. Though that should have the downside of triggering the womp-womp noise every time you move. Pairing it with another power activation probably won't work though, I believe the system just goes with the last command in that case (see all the travel power binds).
  15. That's normal behavior for auto powers though. Nice use of binds and macros. Cheers!
  16. I wanted to roll a blaster purely for Ki Push comedy. This thread inspired its name: Kung Pow Shrimp, the water/martial combat Blaster.
  17. I recently rolled a Street Justice/Shield Scrapper, for Captain America reasons, and have found a dearth of info regarding Street Justice (RedTomax link). As of 24th level, it seems to tire easily, largely due to the endurance piggies that are the Finishers. Sweeping Cross in particular has all the problems Shadow Maul from DM has. (But I'm used to that one.) The wide range of secondary effects looks like it could be useful for slotting proc IOs. Does anyone have any opinions on the set, or good links regarding it?
  18. Well now I will. Get me my platform shoes!
