  1. The entire games Narrative is a touch messy. The Incarnate timeline is wonky because you'll encounter Marchand and Mr G well before actually encountering the Incarnate content which takes place before those arcs. Not to mention it's not made clear what Incarnate arc is meant to take place when with Belladonna meant to be some time in between BAF, Lambda or Keyes and the rest of the iTrials (since it mentions the attack being under way).
  2. Statesman that was due to come back isn't actually OUR statesman, it's Tyrant, who sees that the people need a symbol and so dons the Statesman mantle in order to make up for all that he did as Tyrant. Only the player character and the Freedom Phalanx would know 'in canon' whilst the rest of the world would think that Statesman hadn't actually been killed and instead had needed time to recover.
  3. Ah handy to know that it isn't just the booster that's off it's definitely the DFB itself.
  4. I can confirm that Pre-patch a fresh level 1 would get to level 8 without a booster. Now they get to level 7. So something has definitely happened with the DFB XP gain.
  5. Well there is one way to test this, having run DFB often enough I know that a single DFB with the double XP boost active could take you from 1-8. I'll make a new character and see if I can get a DFB run and report back on the findings. Edit: Ok just ran a DFB on a fresh throwaway level 1 and the result is... ...Level 7 Something is DEFINITELY going wonky with the DFB Trial, as mentioned it always use to get you from 1-8 so you're actually losing a level compared to previous.
  6. Lets face it there are powers that definitely need changing. Serum, Repair, Time Bomb these three can be changed without breaking the cottage rule. Repair could still heal BUT lets make it an AoE heal with the same effect but keep the long recharge or lower the recharge but lower the amount of healing done since it ONLY affects your pets and not anyone else. Time Bomb could still be a targeted AoE it's just thrown instead of placed and explodes on a shorter timer. Serum could still be a huge boost but with the crash removed and maybe +damage added in to make it like a single pet build up. Now the various Intangible effects WOULD have to break the cottage rule because, on the whole, intangible effects are basically seen as very niche or nigh worthless. There are a few very slim cases where they're useful, one is on the Miss Lib TF where you can use it to shut down one of the towers, ignoring it and dealing with the rest and self intangible is basically an 'oh crap' button which is fair enough (but it needs to be a toggle, not a click and wait power). It's basically the Mob AoE intangible that are pretty much worthless so you'd have to probably change them into something more worthwhile. Regen, for example, could have Instant Healing basically returned to its Toggle state and I think that would address a lot of the complaints. Despite what fellow posters have said, people don't hate Click heavy sets. Bio is INCREDIBLY click heavy, especially at the high end where you clicking the Ghost Widow Patron shield every 15 seconds along with your heals and your shields. TW/Bio is a balancing act to keep all those plates up in the air spinning whilst also dealing damage. Most people dislike Regen because it got overly nerfed due to PvP concerns (for a time it was godlike in PvP) not due to PvE concerns. This was in a game where PvP, even at its height, was done by less than 5% of the population and they introduced Willpower which basically took Regen's schtick but did it better with added resistances in the mix but never fixed Regen because it seemed like they 'never had the time'. Bio is how Regen should have been, heals and high health absorb shields but also backed up by a much higher regen rate. Regen got constantly passed over for a much needed rework apart from the 1 time they changed MoG into an alpha strike taking ability.
  7. What I tend to do is simply save them to make the second rare if I'm going for a very rare in the alpha tree. I usually use shards for the common and rare with threads for the uncommon and very rare since the shard path is freaking heinous. The other option is if I need to make a second Alpha of a different type I'll use that same method to make it (like switching my spines/fire farmer from Cardiac to Musculature since she now has her very rare Ageless online, solving endurance woes).
  8. Yeah to mirror what Player2 said. The Homecoming team have been highly focused on Backend stuff, we've had the 64 bit client (which the other servers don't have, so it means that once 32 bit systems stop being supported the HC version of CoH will still run) and now we've got them disabling safemode. We've had a few new arcs, a now origin power pool and a lot of balancing. While it can feel like things are taking forever and a tad sluggish at times (trust me, sometimes it can be painfully slow, the Tanker changes took a LONG time to come through) the back end work is needed so that the game has a future. Thankfully they didn't do their original plan of putting the Mastermind pet AI changes behind them sorting out Safemode (hooray!) but it does mean things like new powersets, new costume pieces and so on are currently on the backburner. Also the other problem is the Homecoming team are the ONLY dev team working on the Issue 25 variant of the server. CoXg, Rebirth, We Have Cake and a few others are running on the Issue 24 variant of the server stuff. This means not only are there basically 4 dev teams all working and talking with each other (compared to our one), this means they can effectively brainstorm problems and then proliferate their ideas out to their servers but said updates cannot easily be applied to Homecoming. This also don't have the whole 'dealing with the backend' stuff to deal (which may be a problem with, as mentioned, 32 bit systems and games no longer being supported) with OR the problem of the fact they're currently in talks with NCsoft which basically means the Homecoming team are getting slowed down even further because legal in corporate moves at the speed of red tape if NCsoft isn't just giving them the eternal run around (since they can't talk about it, we don't know).
  9. Still rather weird but hey, Japanese trends and all that.
  10. Yes but VERY few Brutes, Scrappers, Stalkers or Tankers will bother with the tier 9 Secondary power, also some sets of blasters won't take the tier 9 secondary power (devices for example skips it's last two secondary powers a lot of the time), in fact there's quite a few ATs who will skip the tier 9 or have other very skippable powers. I'm just saying the whole 'oh you can't slot them properly' isn't a problem if you build right, you're probably going to take a one slot wonder (Combat Jumping, Hover, Vengeance/any of the leadership toggles etc.) as your 49 power which means your 47 can be fully slotted.
  11. They're really usually not though, 47 maybe but 49 is 90% of the time something a serious build will use only base or 1 extra slot in. Combat Jumping, Hasten, Hover and Vengeance are all popular picks for the level 49 power because their slot mules for LotG +7.5% recharge or in the case of hasten, only need 1 extra slot with 2 50+5 IOs in it. If anyone is doing some serious slotting they'll usually save those slots which are much needed elsewhere.
  12. If he's got the Pet Purple set in there that is one of the few which doesn't give the +recharge bonus...I think there's one other one as well which doesn't have the 'standard' purple set boosts of +10% Recharge and +15% Accuracy. Which is nice because a lot of superior ATO set bonuses also give a +10% recharge boost. Admittedly that just means you slot Winter IOs in those spaces since you no longer need that huge recharge boost.
  13. Man have Anime titles gotten longer these days...back in my day it was a snappy 'Cowboy Bebop' or 'Golgo 13', now it feels like it's word salad titles are the call of the day. Whilst not technically anime inspired and sadly both have since been deleted (actually because I never played them much) I did have a Nier Automata inspired character name Android 2E who was surprisingly close to Android 2A (shocked even me to be honest how close I got) and Also one based off of USS Enterprise (The aircraft carrier, not the spaceship) from Azur Lane.
  14. Yeah sadly not building a hover blaster since it doesn't suit the theme. Ah well, I'll stick to just softcapping Ranged and N/E and perma-hasten. That and having just come off fulling IOing out both a Spines/Fire farmer and a TW/Bio scrapper for about a billion each my funds are rather dry.
  15. Easy way to tell would be to run a fresh character through it. Having run it enough DFB was enough, with boosters, to take your character from 1 to 8 in a single run. If it doesn't reach that then yush, there might be a bug.
  16. Fair enough. Hopefully it's a lesson learned for both this particular person AND people in general. There are other CoH based videos still up but they're on the small side. So things like Server update info videos, the solo Lambda trial, that sort of thing is fine. I'm guessing it was basically this...A-hole...that meant/means the HC team no longer supports streaming...good job SSundae... >.>
  17. Would you mind awfully posting the build, currently got a Beam/Dev blaster myself so would like to see how it's done 😄
  18. That is rather troubling and personally hope that his...well...foolishness in making a copyrighted Marvel character in the video is the main cause for the takedown and not due to making CoH content. I mean there are videos still out there talking about CoH and playing on HC so...erm...fingers crossed it doesn't affect the things...
  19. Not they don't but now the code is out in the wild they're also the least effective form that's cheap. Like I said a lot of servers can switch their hosting services to Russia which DGAF about companies like Blizzard or NCsoft. I have no doubt that even if HC was lost Thunderspy, COXg, Rebirth etc. would relocate to areas that are essentially outside the law.
  20. Not really as pointed out by other people it would cost them money in order to pull off the things you're mentioning and if a company bigger than NCsoft can't be bothered to spend the cash to do it, I doubt NCsoft could be bothered.
  21. As pointed out WoW private servers are still up, they've been up and running for a LONG time and some are even offering cash prizes. Let me put it this way, if ActiBlizzard who owns King Games which make Candy Crush are rake in the amount of money to make a small nation blush EVERY YEAR aren't bothering to go after Private servers as long as they're not hurting their bottom line and getting huge press about them, I doubt NCsoft who don't rake in quite as much money every year can be bothered to pay the cash to do it. Also different countries have different laws or at least different respect for said laws and outside firms. A lot of private servers for MMOs are hosted in Russia which essentially tells all non-Russian business to GTFO if they try anything. So yeah if a company that makes almost ten times the GDP of the nation of Lichtenstein can't be bothered, I doubt NCsoft can. As for @Gulbasaur yeah that sounds about right...they really have no idea what they're doing marketing wise in the west.
  22. It's such a shame we've got this...guy...promoting City of Heroes when you've got an awesome youtuber by the name of Abruzzi making actually funny content for City of Heores getting small amounts of views. Basically this guy caters to 10 year olds and he constantly finds 'exploits' in games when, according to the people on reddit, most of the time they're just well known game mechanics like power leveling. If you want to watch videos on fun exploits I'd recommend the Spiffing Brit's 'X game is perfectly balanced' series which has legit game breaking stuff. I personally feel this video is doing more harm than good but it's not like we can do anything about it sadly.
  23. Pretty much. I get the feeling, since they were pushing Aion so hard at the time that they somehow thought we'd all migrate to that game...when nobody did. We moved to Champions Online which is run by Perfect World these days and unfortunately is currently in long standing maintenance mode with just loot boxes being slapped into it every six months. As mentioned CoH's marketing budget seemed like it was non-existent. WoW was slapping ads before EVERYTHING, from TV to Films. NCsoft didn't even do token marketing by putting a City of Heroes ads before the Spiderman films, hell they didn't even do it for Champions Online. NCsoft was basically completely out of touch with their western market and pretty much still is.
  24. Bots/Traps is basically the classic 'I need this single target to die!' type build. Bots may lack in single target but they make up for it with strong -regen especially when combined with the Poison Gas traps -1000% regen and also the only hold strong enough in the game to hold an AV through purple triangles, it can stack acid mortar for juicy -def and -res when set up if combined with caltrops and the -res proc in that. Good defenses and Offenses overall. With Bonfire, fireball and the bots inherent AoE it also has nice capabilities there too. The only problem is that the Bots primary self heal power SUCKS forcing you to spec into Medicine. Now on a very tight build that means dropping things like Hasten since you're normally taking either flight + Hover, The Leadership set, the Fighting pool to boost your own defenses AND Medicine.
  25. Oh lord that is some of the worst, most cringest, ill-informed and potentially damage publicity I think we could have had. His subscriber base is mostly 10 or under and he is encouraging people to create copyrighted characters...which is against the TOS...so...yeah prepare for a flood of players like this >.>
