  1. Well I don't PVP at all. I just haven't done a level 50 build since the relaunch. And the defense and resist bonuses added up weirdly, so I felt like I was maybe overlooking something obvious.
  2. In answer to your followup PM, No I don't have a maxxed out set build to share. ^_^
  3. So the reason I asked Meowtastic to spell out the logic was because I thought the way the advice was written was a little ... opinion-phrased-as-fact. And I wanted to see a more detailed explanation of the opinion and the underlying logic written out because that's what I think should have been written in the first place instead of a dismissive "nothing else helps." I agree that tohitdebuff is a good thing to slot for and the best bang-for-buck overall; I think that's good advice. I disagree with the logic that just because you can't order the pet to use a particular power such as its heal it's of no value to ever slot it. I think that's too dismissive of other people's play styles. If someone wanted to slot an accurate heal set like Touch of the Nictus I would respect that was their choice. Why would they do this someone asked? Maybe they want more heals, it's as simple as that. Maybe someone wants to try loading Fluffy up with a couple procs? Valid. Going back to the top of the thread the question was if the pet was a damage dealer or a control type beast and yes the answer is simple it's a damage dealer. I didn't say never slot for fear or tohit debuff, just that damage would the best priority.
  4. My Psi-Melee stalker is almost 50 and I started planning a level 50 build using sets. It looks Ok for a first draft... I could probably give up a 6th bit of set here and there to tweak the power a little higher in a few cases. But the numbers in Pine's for totals look weird. Like more defense to environmentals than S/L, but tons of resistance to S/L. Anyway the power choices are not up for debate at this time (no hasten tough or weave) but set suggestions are. NOTE: the procs in this build (except for 1 LOTG) are things I actually have so that's why they're in here. Likewise I already have most of the 2 stalker ATO sets and I chose the powers they went in for reasons laboriously discussed elsewhere so they're not moving I picked just 2 purple tier sets for the build as I thought that was as much as I could reasonably shoot for right now. They went in powers where I couldn't get as much damage and recharge as I wanted with regular sets Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 5. Hit the charmax from the color codes I think. Continuing on. Stage 2: Level 40 Then to evolve the build to about level 40 I would go in this direction. I went ahead and took SuperJump (slotted with a stealth proc) and then Acrobatics. Why? Two words. Night. Ward. There is a heinous mission in Night Ward you will thank me for the -immob in Combat Jumping and the -hold in Acrobatics. Acro also has -knock so if you blew off getting a Karma earlier you'll have lots of -knock now. I just wouldn't normally run it on top of everything else all the time. Of course these are your flexible slots where you could take other travel powers or leadership if preferred but with Shadow Fall, Fade, and Soul Absorption I think you're doing enough for the team and you should take care of your own self! This build really dives in deep with the commitment to the team buffs and the big crowd moves. It makes me grit my teeth that the single target hold is untouched and the haunts just have some damage shoved in them for a real pinch, but that's how it goes. Epic choice is up to you - consider ice though! Hibernate puts your character in an untouchable state while you regen and recover. 6. First I want to address the IO issue. I did a cost analysis and its here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,3042.msg20592.html#msg20592 The cost to outfit a character at level 22 with IOs you craft yourself, assuming you bought the recipes directly from the table and overpaid for the salvage at the marketplace ($15,000 influence no less, which sounds SUPER overpriced but when I wrote it the market prices were bouncing around and for some IOs getting 3 yellows might have cost you that) is 2.1 million. ACTUAL estimate if you do craft yourself and bank what you need is much less. If you have invested in making a crafter character who has the memorization badges definitely less than half. On to the recs. Warden PMed me asking about a Dark/Dark build strictly for teaming so I have prepared some. I have a few intro comments. First, it looks to me like the meta is currently heavily favoring damage and control is not really very appreciated though buff/debuff is. Once nukes come into play it gets exaggerated but even at lower levels the brutes and tanks are racing toward the foes and as a controller you have approximately 3 seconds to do something useful so the following build is about doing the 1 thing you can do in this situation: spam fearsome stare like you are a spectral terror pet come to life. In addition to that locking the feared mobs into place and sliding a tar patch under them is about the most you can do control wise, so those 3 powers are enhanced above all other controls in this build. On the secondary side, everything's pretty good it's just a matter of priority. By the way make a macro for Tar Patch to hold the command: /powexeclocation Target Tar Patch as this will place the tar patch under your current target - probably whoever you targeted for Fearsome Stare. This may glitch if they're on a platform or weird height though. This build also has hasten, and I must stress Hasten doesn't have to be perma to be helpful. Save it for when you need faster recharges or are about to go into a big fight and have blue inspirations ready because not only does it give you an eventual end crash, it does mean you're spamming powers faster. You might not need it. There's enough recharge in the build you may be fine just using the powers as they are. Heart of Darkness is not taken yet in this stage. It's low accuracy and PBAOE and it's just not going to be useful. Later it would be nice to have in case of an ambush or the team being swarmed. Meanwhile you can just use the autohit Howling Twilight in a pinch, or as a boss -regen killer, or just to rez your teammates if they die. I guess. Possess has a special role in this build. If you encounter a foe like a Sky Raider Engineer, ideally you would just use your hold on them, but that would aggro their entire group. So you can't. But you can Possess them without getting aggro, and then when they summon their forcefield generator it'll be friendly. KILL THE GENERATOR ASAP. As soon as the engineer dies the generator will unconfuse and buff the raiders. Tell your team to blow up the generator before the engineer, unless you have someone who can snipe the engineer before the fight from within shadowfall. Oh and just in general confuse bosses if you can and think of it as placate. Combat Jumping protects from immobilize and can carry a knockdown protection. You can buy the recipe for that for 20 merits if you can't afford the AH cost. The build is presented as a leveling build you could respec into. Stage 1 is level 22 with level 25 IOs available. I don't guarantee this would be that great to work toward in the order I've laid things out as. 7. That's what I'm asking the original poster to confirm. He didn't say that he had a bane and a crab on two different builds.
  8. 4 or 6 Cloud Senses--take your pick. Other sets doesn't help (Holds, Healing, or Immoblize) because you have no control over Dark Servant. I don't understand your logic here. You're saying because you can't command the servant to spam its heal you shouldn't slot for heal for when he does? Can you please explain further?
  9. I think it's really awesome. The powers mostly look cool (kicks mental strike to the curb) and present a nice mix of attacks. It has a confuse which even if it doesn't have enough magnitude to work on someone still leaves them tagged as someone you get a bonus chance for insight off. I personally find having a confuse if only for sappers and Rikti guardians to be invaluable. The tier 9 is a fairly spammable AoE knockup power which does a mix of psi and smashing and there's another knockup power in the set which provides soft control early on. What I really like is when Greater Psi Blade crits from hide with Insight after I just used Buildup because my ATO refreshed it and leaves a smoking hole where someone I was fighting used to be. The attack chain feels like there's a weird gap in it. I currently have my set frankenslotted so the recharge amount on each power is similar and some could probably use more. My character hit 47 so I'm about to spit out those enhancements and replace them with sets and I think I'm gonna ditch both Mental Strike and Web Grenade and pick up Air Superiority. But I am considering infiltrating Arachnos and learning a patron pool. I just really like physical perfection and exploding shuriken right now. There was some talk abut the psi damage of the set being heavily resisted after 40. I didn't have a problem with it until just recently when I was going against Zeus Titans. They are grindy; if I had the difficulty cranked way up it would probably be a big deal but I don't. So my suspicion when people in another thread were crying it was so bad they were probably doing +4 content which, certainly is an option but not something everyone does, especially below 50 with finalized builds.
  10. I take this statement back anyway. The proc rate standardization thing means it's actually got a really high chance to fire in buildup anyway. So you'd have DOUBLE build up.
  11. I'd like to suggest a quantity of generic feature if that's somehow possible. Even if it's a fixed amount like a batch of 5 or 10. I would absolutely want to spit out batches of 10 accuracies, 20 damage, 10 end reduction, 10 recharge, etc. Heck I needed 15 fly IOs for some other testing.
  12. Oooh I'm gonna check on that. I think that would be HILARIOUS to achieve on the test server. I do think the confusion in this post does underscore that SOs are obsolete. IOs were created as direct replacement for SOs and in part due to ED. The only thing I really like SOs for is as a benchmark for a minimum amount of enhancement to consider an enhancement "non-starter." (As in, say we're talking to someone about endurance problems and we ask if they have Stamina 3-slotted with SO-equivalent enhancements (SOEEs?), meaning actual SOs or 25+ IOs.) Maybe we should be moving away from enhancement-based terminology and saying "do you have the power enhanced to near 90% yet?" outside of cases such as this one, where the actual question is about the efficient allocation of slots based on the available values and the relevant soft caps. In this case, it just seemed obvious to me if we're trying to determine the absolute highest cap that means level 50 character with level 50 IOs. Let's keep in mind though it's possible to augment level 50 IOs to even higher levels, but I'm unsure if I can just get those items on the test server. /Geek Off
  13. This one actually probably belongs in the bug forums. Also spell out your AT and powersets. You may want to actually submit a ticket to have a GM look at your character, it sounds like your data is corrupted in some way. I don't know if they have some way to surgically correct it. I would also look at any multiple builds you have and make sure you don't still have munitions mastery on them because I could see (thanks to the crab backpack issue) that being a complicating factor.
  14. Yeah it's funny. Someone asked on Help and I said, "Knowing this game it's probably something ridiculously simple like /selectbuild 2" and then I did it but was fortunately not flying at the time. XD
  15. I have exactly the same thing Kat does with the queue notice if I back out and I have for weeks. My delay time has been more like 30 seconds since the 20th but longer yesterday during peak times. I'd be happy to do any testing/debugging also Cipher. goblinite, what you're not seeming to understand is that this is like when you load a web page and in the corner of your browser it flashes "waiting for aws/lightbeam/adserver du jour/etc". Our machines are *waiting for data* not having memory efficiency problems handling the data they're given. Why they're waiting for data is the question. Network protocols I'd believe, memory handling issues I don't.
  16. I have my window scale set to 120% in settings and I'm having a small problem with scroll bars particularly for the supergroup window. When I open the window it has the scroll bars be about 80-90% of the default window's height. If I stretch the supergroup window bigger, the scroll bar just stretches with it. The upshot of this is that I can only scroll up or down about 2 lines. So I can only see about 8 or 10 entries on the screen and the only way I can see others is to sort them. I am assuming that there's some entry in the wdw.txt file that I need to change back to default while leaving the rest set at ~120% but that's such a TOUCHY file I wanted to ask for expert advice before I read through it and made a guess. Someone else actually had a similar question on Help one morning and someone very conversant about that file gave out some great info (including warning about wdw being finnicky) but unfortunately I didn't realize I had the same issue until my pal's altitis kicked in hard and he dumped 12 alts into our supergroup.
  17. I actually had a problem with this where the foe was perceived to be at an invalid location (they were 10' right in front of me but at a different height) and instead of giving me a targeting reticle the power just "jammed" up and I got an invalid target location message from System. I had to escape to cancel my very simple macro that was just like the sample above and manually cast it. Very weird. This location toggle flips out over target height sometimes.
  18. This should probably be in the help forum because it might just be something like a driver issue with your video card or something about your laptop that just can't handle zoning. If you figure out the problem in help and it is something like X video card with Y driver always crashes on zoning THEN it would be good to report it as a bug.
  19. So keep talking about having a Bane, but you must have a crab build on build 2? if that's not the case this is a different bug.
  20. I think the belt in question is set up to go with the gunfighter costume set which has some oversized pieces, and doesn't mesh well with anything else; you might want to play around a little and check on that.
  21. Probably won't need Conserve Power with Soul Absorbtion. Dimension Shift and Black Hole are both intangible powers but they're not the same. Dimension shift can be turned off, and teammates who enter the stationary AOE will shift into phase with the enemies and can fight them. Black Hole just parks a group for the full duration. If you want an emergency button, DS is loads better.
  22. It's a damage pet. It has a fear attack in its howl that is similar to fearsome stare at about half strength for both the fear and the tohit debuff. So, slot for murder.
  23. Do you not have the knockback to knockdown IO slotted in whirlwind?
  24. We talked about this in the Controller ATO thead: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,4500.0.html but basically Energy Font is a low damage temporary pet that has a stun aura.
  25. Helpful thoughts, thanks. I haven't really been on this character recently but I did end up going with a real practical night widow build on slot 1 and on slot 2 I'm messing with the Fortunata. I usually just play on 0/0 since I'm not in any rush and I like to be able to do a lot of story arcs before I level.
