So a Staff and a Broadsword are? A Club(mace) could easily work. Sneak up and bop someone on the head. A hatchet/cleaver(axe) could also work quite well. But this is not real world comparison it is total fantasy. So we have people wielding stupidly over sized weapons(TW) and shooting Beams of energy from their eyeballs etc.

Night Tank Solo ITF and AE 801.3 4x8, page 7 build
Gobbledigook replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
Ahh i see, in anticipation of update release. Missed that. You have pretty good accuracy in the build plus leadership, so do you really need CT offensive and not swap it with Combat Jumping for an extra LotG +recharge and some small +defense. You could put a Winters gift slow resistance in CJ also if you preferred. Shame it does not have a miracle in health for a little better recovery, but Cardiac may be enough. You could drop a Mocking Beratement and slot a miracle and still have the same +recharge with LotG in CJ. Just some small ideas but looking good. -

Focused Feedback: VEAT Updates
Gobbledigook replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I think the Soldiers Spiderling and Reinforcement pets could do with a little built in defense. They die rather too easily and are have a long summon recharge. -
Focused Feedback: VEAT Updates
Gobbledigook replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I like the changes, but I think Shatter for Bane spiders could have a little less activation time for better Dpa. Nightwidows Slash for example is much faster with better Dpa. Whether that would mean increasing the recharge time a little also? -
If you wanted new powers what would it be?

Shapeshifting. Turning into a Bear like Beorn could be fun. Could make a good Druid type also. Could become a new Epic AT. Shapeshift into a form to fill required role. -

Nightwidows are also support. They bring as much support as a Bane Soldier anyway. A Brute is not a melee damage yet PB/Veat are? lol The roles need opening up a little more at least. A Blaster could fill ranged and melee damage for example as they have both. -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Gobbledigook replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I have just been reading through some of the posts.... So we need to fill the roles to get a bonus Aether? If we can not find a support for example we wait to find one? If the AT needed to fill the role is completely under geared on SO's or DO's only we have to take them for the bonus?(sometimes this is possible depending on the rest of the team). I can't get on a team because i don't fill the required role? My Widow has an easier time getting teams than other AT's lol? A corruptor is now not support although it is listed under the support section? Arachnos soldier is support but a Widow is not? Seems a bit weird to me. If you want to give a bonus aether then just give it once a day on a TF/SF per account (not character)or better still just give it us for free everyday, as i don't really care who has the Aethers or the market lol. -

Maybe just blank out 2x xp until they have a 50 on the account. They can then use it on any alts after that. Still easier to level than in the old days. -
Which is the tankiest tank in tank town (with caveats)?
Gobbledigook replied to sutasafaia's topic in Tanker
Ok, that leaves Blaster out. A Sentinel and a Fortunata are very survivable also. Fortunatas have very high defence and scaling resists as they lose health. They may be worth a consideration. Play both to 30 or try them on the test server maybe. Endurance can be a problem on Forts though but IO/incarnate can sort that at late game. If you are soloing mostly then any Tanker is good really. The taunt will mean you won't need to chase mobs very often. Solo with minimal IO's i would probably go Rad/SS Tanker. Endurance recovery built in, heals/regen, good resists and extra damage. It's a solo powerhouse. Whichever you decide on have fun 🙂 -

I would probably opt for Invulnerability with something like Staff, Dark melee or Martial arts. Invuln gives a good mix of resists and defence, it has 50% DDR (which ageless can buff more) and +to hit and a heal/max health. I am not sure Tanker is the right choice for you though, unless you are set on a Tanker. You need to be mobile and attack/taunt and pick up mobs etc. A ranged class standing at the back pushing a few attack buttons like a Sentinel/Blaster or Fortunata would be better in my opinion. My Fortunata is so easy to play. I buff by just being there and do damage and no one cares if i am lagging behind whereas a Tanker will be noticed more. Fortunata is for when i want a very laid back day lol. -
SS is not the best Single target or AoE but it is up there. A highly resisted set compared to say Fire melee, but SS Rage does offer very nice +to hit which can also make a big difference.

Fortunata.

It was a fun night. Slow though lol.

I don't know what you intend to do with that build but it is rather tanky, probably way more than is needed for most content. If you want something punchy and don't like rage then you could take Martial Arts and be even more tanky with the +defense from MA for example. Super Strength without Rage is inferior to most other sets. Rage makes the set. If you are really set on it then go ahead but i would honestly look at other sets if you don't like Rage. You are trying to chase resist bonuses but could do it much easier. Why 6 slot Combat jumping for example? Why 6 slot maneuvers? Why agility core?. Particle shielding is under slotted for one of the best powers RadA has and also an under slotted Rad Therapy. They could have got you the resists you are chasing and offer good healing on top. Search the forums, there have been many Rad/SS builds posted previously.

A Tanker will have an easier time during the Rage crash than a Brute though. Higher Def/Resists/health/DDR etc. Normal content it barely matters though and hard more.....well Barrier lol. As i said SS can work with all armors, just be aware of defense and end crashes when building/choosing. Who knows maybe SS will have a rework next patch? Stranger things happen :P.

and rip out the nearest virgins neck?
-
SS Rage crash will hit a defense armor set more than it will a resistance set. Rad armor is a very good resist armor set that works well with SS. Stone, invuln etc can work. All armor sets can work with SS. Just remember that Rage crashes hit your defense, leaving you more vulnerable for a short while and open to cascading defense failure and other debuffs.

New player - help setting up a Claws/** scrapper.
Gobbledigook replied to Boadwinter's topic in Scrapper
If you need some +recovery it could be needed (proc heavy builds etc). That is only why i mentioned it. Rather than going cardiac. -
New player - help setting up a Claws/** scrapper.
Gobbledigook replied to Boadwinter's topic in Scrapper
If you are new then my suggestion would be EA or SR. SR is not endurance heavy. It has 3 low endurance toggles and the rest are auto powers except for Practiced Brawler that only needs to be clicked once in a while. Slot all attacks with endurance reduction as these will be the main endurance burners. Take or leave elude, your choice. you won't need it much if at all. SR is good even with just SO's. Ageless Radial Destiny will help endurance and Defense debuff resistance later and you won't need Cardiac with a decent build. Pick Muscualature Radial Alpha if you do need more +recovery. Also the P2W recovery Serum etc. You won't get hit often and when you do, pop an inspiration or ask a friendly healer 🙂 -
If the pet upgrades were auto and cast when the pets were summoned would be a big improvement. An out of combat speed increase or summon to your side via a click would help a lot also. A Click summon would help with pet pathing issues also. I would give them a little better AoE damage also. Pet levels also.
-
Axe, WM, SS and even Stone melee could work. I don't imagine a Troll with a shield really, although it will probably work fine. Invuln, WP, Regeneration or even Stone armor will work well. Energy mastery for SC and Physical Perfection i guess. Invoke Panic from the Presence pool would be fitting. Unrelenting also.

Benefits to going above the soft-cap for Defense?
Gobbledigook replied to Story Archer's topic in General Discussion
45% soft cap will do for most normal content. Higher more difficult content will find more Def debuffs/to-hit debuffs and more accurate mobs but also keep in mind you will probably be teamed and buffed even more with +defense/resists etc. Quite often just chaining Barrier. For Willpower i would say 45% defense is good and maybe build some more resists instead of more Def. Without decent DDR, the Defense will get stripped anyway, probably.
