Why level 19?
-
Well we know a Brute will take a Pylon/hard target down faster than a Tanker. The Trapdoor test shows Tankers are good trash clears but so are Brutes and many other AT's. The test does not represent normal everyday play. A Brute will solo just fine and is actually one of the better AT's for doing this. The Tanker is very good solo also and so are many other AT's. Soloing is a choice as teams are readily available. The Brute in a team will benefit from buffs very well with their increased caps, pushing them well beyond Scrapper levels and into Tanker area. I have both Tanker and Brutes with the same powersets and good builds. They clear trash equally but the Brute will take down a Boss faster. That is my proof in actual gameplay and not tailored missions. That being said the Brute could definitely do with better ATO procs and maybe some slight tweaking. It is never going to be an easy place between 2 other AT's but no one forces you to play the Brute. Providing some ideas for the Brute and less moaning may be more beneficial.

You will probably have endurance issues even with DC. Resists are a little low in areas for a resist armor but just my opinion. Not enough slow resist. The +recharge is nice though.
-
Depends if we are talking an SO Brute/Tanker leveling up or one with a good build. Solo or in a team with buffs etc etc etc.
-
Are we talking solo play Brute vs Tankers in an MMO? are you concerned that a Brute can't solo? On a team Brutes do really well from buffing with their increased health/resistance caps. Far surpassing a Scrapper, almost Tanker level.
-
Yes, hopefully then we can have less bickering.
-
The Brute could become the single target tank whilst the Tanker the AoE tank. Nothing wrong in having more than one tank type AT's, ( i know we have Kheldians). We have more than one buffer/dps etc AT's. A damage resistance debuff proc ATO to the Brute but only on the single target attacks. A small damage buff with increased team value. An ATO proc similar to MotT proc for Tankers, but with reduced effect like 3-4% defense/resist stacking twice for example. Or attach it to fury but that could be more work to do. They could be better tanks allowing more AT choice for the role. I do not feel the Tanker needs a major nerf for the reason they are much more fun to play now than before and do nothing that other ATs can do. Yes they have good survival skills but other AT's can buff teams etc and still do good AoE damage. May as well nerf Fulcrum shift if you do 🙃
-
I don't think Brutes will get major changes anytime soon. Trying to get fury to buff defense/resistance also will very likely go no where fast and be a waste of time. Changing the ATO will probably have a much better chance. I would rather keep it realistic. It's not like Brutes are unplayable.
-
An example for Brute ATO proc could just be 3% defense 3%resistance proc that stacks 2 times, similar to MotT proc. A proc that gives all the Brutes single target attacks a resistance debuff lasting 10 seconds 1ppm. These would increase Brute survival, but still not Tanker level and increased damage at times on a single target but behind Scrappers/Stalkers still. Tankers stay the AoE tank and scrappers/Stalkers the dps. Trying not to offer anything that does not exist in the game already.
-
The Brute needs its ATO reviewed. A good choice on this could make a big difference. See how that goes and tweak more if needed. We all need to push the development team and offer ideas to help. Careful not to upset Scrappers/Stalkers or Tankers when doing it.
-
I would rather have a Brute helping me take an AV down than a Tanker. Tankers clears trash well but so does my defender. Corruptors aren't too shabby at trash clearing either lol and they buff a whole team.
-
I have a SS/Bio Brute that i have built more for damage. She is still very tough, tougher than a Scrapper would be. She could off tank or step in if the Tank fails but primarily she is damage. Less damage than a Scrapper of equal build but much tougher, especially with buffs boosting towards the higher caps. I feel Bio works well for a Brute. It gives extra damage and good survival, but requires a little getting used to. If your aim is to be a tank then i would probably roll a Tanker. Brutes are good but a little more would be good.

Your power tray is like Christmas with all the flashing lights 🙂

/Kin is a wonderful thing, especially in a team. It will need a good build to survive. I have a Fire/Time corruptor that is much tougher and does very good damage with the +damage, +recharge and debuffs /Time offers. Zero dps if you are dead. Something to consider.

How do you feel about 'lone wolfing'?
Gobbledigook replied to Story Archer's topic in General Discussion
I was on an ITF one time. I was a Tanker and I jumped ahead into the mobs to aggro etc. I made sure the team was OK before moving to the next mob. At a 2 way junction in the cave I went straight ahead but a Brute decided to go left. I had engaged a group by now. The team except one guy decided to follow the Brute. I thought ok... and continued ahead. Then the brute team including the Brute wiped. I received a message from the leader telling me I had done wrong and need to follow or be booted. I pointed out I was the Tank and may be better if they follow me. They insisted I follow the leader (blaster) but persisted in blaming me for the wipe. I said "enough" and quit lol. -
Seems like he thought he was helping with pulling more and assessed it wrongly. Perhaps a quick explanation of what was required would have been more productive than condemnation. Tolerance is needed as mistakes/confusion can happen. If it persists then remove them from the team. I have teamed with players who are quick to reply to posts like this and found them to be just as bad or worse. __________________ Comments were made in "Not cool to pull mobs from behind to overwhelm the group." _____________________ This also makes me wonder what other "comments" were made.

You should always try them out on the test server first. Builds will usually need tweaking and a change to the order the powers are taken, unless it is a build that has been used for some time. Just use them as a rough idea/guide otherwise.
-
You can have the opposite and be too good for a team also. If you are on a fully incarnate toon with a complete build and join a 54 team and steam roll it players sometimes leave. Of course you could tone it down a little. As long as players are having fun, i do not care how good their hero/villain is.

Are there any powersets which are better on Brute than on other AT's ?
Gobbledigook replied to Icono04's topic in Brute
Brutes have the higher health and resistances cap, so you could take advantage of them. Solo you will be tough enough, but in a team those buffs will work well with the Brutes increased caps. Invulnerability will give you good defense and resists and let you reach the health cap. It also gives +to hit so you can pick any primary you like. Stone is also good for defense/resists/health and gives some +recharge and a proc. Endurance heavy though. Bio if you want to focus more on damage, works well with a Brute. Pick a primary attack set you like as that will be what you are using most of the time. -
Looking for a non-busy ranged combo to play.
Gobbledigook replied to The Time Witch's topic in Archetypes
A ranged only Fortunata. Elec blast/SR Sentinel Mercs/FF MM could work. Don't bother attacking, just direct the pets and a few buffs. Ice or Beam rifle/Devices Blaster and stand at the back. -
Brute health cap is much higher than a scrappers and a little less than a tankers, which may be a consideration. Certain armor sets will let the brute reach that cap, stone, invuln and some others. Brutes have tanker resist caps which in a team with buffers is achievable. If you are trying to match tanker resist/defense then i would probably say roll a tanker. You can do that or you could opt for more damage/procs and be a tougher scrapper with tanking ability or somewhere in between. Built equally the tanker will clear trash faster and a brute will take down a hard target a faster but the tanker will always be more survivable.

Is it time to reimagine the Flight Pool?
Gobbledigook replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
We have Prompt team teleport in options so could Prompt Team fly be added? When someone uses group fly you will get a one time pop up asking if you accept or decline the fly, which would last until you logged out or reactivate it in options or even disable it entirely all the time until reactivated. It may be a slight inconvenience to some though. -
I often go Longbow for the -regen debuff.
