  1. What difficulty settings are these run on? Might be a good thing to include going forward :)
  2. I think there's definitely a market for speed running TFs/SFs/Trials. Obviously not everyone likes to do it but as you can see from the popularity of speedrunning marathons like GDQ, there's definitely an appeal to seeing how far we can cut down some of these time.
  3. Really great explanation. I'm now buying Attuned IOs for everything that I don't need to boost - which is almost everything. Makes doing low level content a lot easier :)
  4. No to both, I believe.
  5. If I have a power on a long recharge that I absolutely, positively want up as fast as humanly possible, then I would... still not take burnout, and would just slot for a lot of recharge, which is something I do on every build anyway. Note that Burnout doesn't affect ancillary or patron powers either :(
  6. @Blightfire :)
  7. My guideline for my own builds is to shoot for 32.5% ranged defense because... a) you have access to a super strong AoE immobilize, so it's easy to stay out of melee, and I guess there are very few attacks tagged purely as AoE, so it's easy to force most incoming attacks to be ranged - whereas if you build for S/L def and you happen to find an enemy with attacks that don't have a smashing or lethal component (not super uncommon) you're SOL b) you're one purple away from the softcap (and will reach it quite readily in a large number of teams) c) Dominators only need enough defense & resistance to cover for gaps in their control powers d) 32.5% ranged is quite an easy target as many strong and desirable IO sets also happen to give large ranged defense bonuses, and I am lazy ;D
  8. Staying within the parameters of 1) Permadom 2) Capped ranged defense 3) Capped S/L resists doesn't leave you with a lot of wiggle room to change much of anything, let alone improve on it in any major way. You can save 1 slot and pick up some recharge if you replace the 6 slots in Strangler with 4 slots of Basilisk's Gaze, and put one of the two slots that frees up into Fire Shield, which still leaves you with over 45% ranged defense and capped resist. Maybe put the extra slot into Health to take another +Recovery proc. I think Tactics + Gaussian's proc is better than Assault. My opinion is that you're using too many slots on defense and resistance, which I fear will wind up being redundant with your super strong control suite. I figure - you don't need to be able to tank the entire spawn (at range), you only need to be able to tank whatever doesn't get confused in the first 2 seconds of the fight. On my Plant/Fire I go through a lot of spawns where I might as well have infinite defense and resistance because the entire spawn is confused for the duration of the fight and I never even get attacked! But this isn't a criticism of your build - rather it's just pointing out that I have different defense targets for my build. If you have a good reason to need that much defense and resistance I think the build you posted pretty much nailed it.
  9. Hasn't happened yet :) starting up 4 hours from now, ish. I made a Dark/Time corruptor :O
  10. You seem to mostly know what you're doing, but I see a lot of places where I think you could make better use of your slots. I don't want to nitpick, though, so my apologies if this comes across that way: As a few examples... 1) You have 5-slotted Vengeance, a power that needs only one slot to be useful (LoTG +7.5%) 2) You've taken, and 6-slotted, Indomitable Will. I very rarely feel like I need additional mez protection as a permadom, between the native mez protection of Domination and the fact that you have access to super strong AoE mez on demand. EDIT: 3) [i didn't notice before] You have one too many 6.25% recharge bonuses! So one of those (expensive and only giving level40 bonuses) Decimation sets is doing you no good. You could dump Indomitable Will and take Consume or Blazing Bolt instead. This lets you replace all 5 slots in Vengeance with a single LoTG (taking the one from Indomitable will), and gives you lots of options for the other power and slots. I definitely use Consume often enough on Plant/Fire/Fire to want it, or you could leverage Link Minds + Tactics + the 6% ToHit Kismet IO to get the magic 22% ToHit for fast snipe on demand. Link minds doesn't give that much defense either - You'd actually get more ranged defense value overall by 6-slotting a Thunderstrike set (+3.75% ranged defense) in one of your ranged attacks than you are from the Red Fortune enhancements. EDIT: I played around in Pine's for a while and came up with this, which I think is not optimal, but I'm not sure where the difference between "improving your build" and "imposing my playstyle" lies: Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 11. I'm thinking... Annihilation: Acc/Dam/Rech (boosted to +5) Annihilation: Chance for -Res Ragnarok: Acc/Dam/Rech (boosted to +5) Positron's Blast: Chance of Damage (Energy) Impeded Swiftness: Chance of Damage (Smashing) Trap of the Hunter: Chance of Damage (Lethal)
  12. Hmm, since Creepers takes Positron's Blast, that means it also takes the Annihilation set and Chance for -Res might do really well in Carrion Creepers if it has a chance to trigger on every attack. I probably wouldn't put the chance for hold in creepers since I just rely on Seeds of Confusion for hard control. But I do have to make some hard choices on how to slot creepers...
  13. With everything confused from Seeds of Confusion and with your own regen boosted into the stratosphere by Drain Psyche, why would you want to avoid melee?
  14. It'll also take the damage procs from Immobilize and Slow sets :O so you can fit up to 4 damage procs in it if desired
  15. This is also my #1 pet peeve. If your team has no damage mitigation aside from "taunt mobs to stay on the tank and scrapper", okay, sure. But if your team runneth over with control making the enemies helpless (and preventing the tank, and everyone, from getting aggro), debuffs making the enemies simply anemic, or buffs making your team members unstoppable gods... And, granted, your AoEs WILL be more valuable if you stand and wait for everyone to get grouped up - sure! But, are they so much improved that it's worth having 7 team members sit around twiddling their thumbs while one player plays the herding minigame? Also don't get me wrong - I love tanks and I think tanks definitely have a role on support and control heavy teams - it's running AHEAD of the team, pulling more and more mobs into the death zone. Because why steamroll one spawn when you could do three?
  16. Hi friends, I noticed that my character's Assassin mask (Face Detail 2) doesn't appear to be showing up properly in the Character ID window: Obviously not game-breaking, but might be of interest to the team. Thanks!
  17. I don't have any so I'd be starting a new one, but I can do that ahead of time. I think I only played goldside once and only up to like, level 14, so I don't know much about it outside of high level content like iTrials and such.
  18. Very cool build and also great discussion in the thread. Why Assault? I haven't tinkered with the build yet but just glancing at the one in the OP, it seems like it's definitely one of the lower-value powers.
  19. I too am US east coast and free after about 5:30 but my schedule varies. How about we shoot for a few hours Thursday evening?
  20. 30 years old. Played City of Heroes from my freshman year of college until sunset, so... 2005 to 2012. Started playing EVE Online at around the same time, and continued to play that until... around 2016. I still follow EVE and log on once in a while, and have been to Iceland three times for the annual player gathering there. If you count Destiny 2 as an MMO (it sort of is?), I've played that since about 2017.
  21. Sure, I'm in.
  22. I was never good at coming up with puns, but I grabbed the name "First Impressions" on Virtue very late in the game and remember being surprised it was still available. She was an AR/Dev blaster with a good amount of +range so targets 'first impressions' of her were high-velocity rifle rounds.
  23. So there's good news here. Enhancement converters mean that all purple sets cost about the same nowadays. Granted, but still more expensive than non-purple sets. And still no good for leveling. But yeah, definitely cheaper.
  24. This is actually a problem I run into with a lot of Dominator builds. The ATO sets have great bonuses, and the +damage proc is probably great, but I never find anywhere I want to put them! I don't have any control powers that I spam as often as possible. And as you note, Basilisk's Gaze goes into the hold powers because its 7.5 recharge on 4 slots. I think a good place place to put the ATO sets is probably your single target hold since that's what you use the most, and we just have to deal with the fact that it's an incremental improvement over Basilisk's Gaze. But, Fearsome Stare is where I'd put it if I were in your position. I hard disagree with Quijon - do not put Dark Watcher's despair in there. Buffing the -tohit is nice, but I think using 6 slots to get 8.5% (or 10%) recharge is a lot better than using 4 slots for 5%, and Fearsome Stare is definitely not a bad power to be throwing around a lot and buffing yourself every time you do. This is pretty standard and a great reason to take Leadership on your Dominators. Maneuvers + Tactics + Vengeance is 2 LoTG mules attached to 3 fantastic powers.
  25. ... how tough is it to click a second button every two minutes? but also, "just get two purple sets lol" is not really helpful advice - some of us have builds that don't call for many purples (or would only use the expensive ones like apocalypse and ragnarok). and, the point of the thread was ways to get permadom early, but you can't slot purples until level 50 anyway, so it's quite unhelpful if you're still leveling :)
