I think a better option would be something like "defeat a [lt or higher] of [enemy group in question]" to progress the quest line...

I'm going to push back against this a little; quite a few modern MMOs have introduced moments where a player *needs* to stun/silence a boss as part of a mechanical interaction. I think the problem is that CoH's take on controls/combat and team building just doesn't mesh well with MMOs finding a "control" role - which, to be fair, took almost a decade after CoH invested hard in its own take on control. It's also common for other MMO bosses to build up immunities to specific forms of mez as they get used repeatedly.
I think the biggest issue with CoH's approach to control in terms of balancing is that controls are VERY long relative to any other MMO and that there's not really any sort of "building" resistance to mez that makes it less "permahold or nothing" in terms of approach.
To a degree I agree with your summation, but I also think this falls into the "why don't you just shoot him" trope - We simply don't have the ability, as a super strong character, to flick an enemy in the forehead of knock them out, nor do we have the ability to interrogate or otherwise intimidate enemies, (in any way that would affect the mission flow), unless it was specifically scripted into the mission.
Another mechanic that bugs me is that of power cooldowns. I can understand that a firearm only has a certain fire rate, but I should be able to punch or kick as fast as I, (perhaps trading attack speed for accuracy or damage).
Then there's little things - like not being able to create a little light if you can control fire, or not being able to heal or rez certain NPCs, if they are injured/defeated...

The problem is, IMO, that many MMOs don't look very exciting to the uninitiated; If you don't know what you're looking at, it just seems like a hodge-podge of character models and power FX going off. Better to sell them on the character editor and variety of powersets...

I feel that this trope fits things very well; in real life, where I'm not about to break down someone's decorative fence or screen door to progress further, it's fully understandable. In a video game, where I'm ostensibly trying to save someone's life or prevent some great disaster, you'd be damn sure that such a flimsy barrier would stand no chance. It really irks me when my character can control primal forces or has a cadre of war 'bots at my beck-and-call, that some flimsy interior door could stand in my way...

Horribly disfigured when the Vahzilok who abducted her set off the self destruct in their laboratory, rather then let it fall into the hands of the heroes who came to save her, Lizette found herself forever changed. Her hideous visage hid a rather ironic property - no matter how much damage she sustained, she would always be restored to her new "state". Requiring additional equipment to move about freely, she soon discovered that she could cause bony claws to emerge from her hands, if she only just concentrate for a few moments. Deciding to focus her agony toward those that harmed her, instead of lashing out at the world in general, Lizette dubbed herself "The Ingenue of Sinew", and set forth to right some wrongs... in the must brutal way the law would allow!
EDIT: I made a black & grey variant of the costume which is kind of meant to call back to the Vahzilok Eidolons...

Here are a few pieces I'd like to see:
Barbarian rugged gloves to match the boots of the same name.
Carnival masks for male & huge characters.
Carnival masks in the hat category.
Gunslinger 01 & 02 head detail 2 options for male & huge characters.
This one may sound weird, but I think it'd be a great option: Add short sleeve and classic steampunk sleeves options to the "sleeveless" categories, since they don't extend to the elbow and thus wouldn't cause any clipping issues.
The barbarian chest option is weirdly missing from the jacket option with sleeves, but is present in the sleeveless one.
Several of the hats, like military or official, have yellow/gold parts that are both hard to match to the existing color palette or otherwise limit options. I would like to see alternatives where these parts either take on the secondary color or are simply black.
I would love to see an alternative version of the 2-pointed jester hat where, instead of left & right colors, it'd be front & back.
I like the matey & swabby hats, but would like options without the dots/circles.
Classic steampunk hat without the goggles.
I think that's enough for now! Thank you for reading!

In addition I am trying to put together a Ghostbusters outfit on the character designer but cannot for the life of me find a jumpsuit so....I'd be very interested to hear any ideas or advice about costume parts I could use that might best represent the Ghostbusters uniform.
It's tough to get something exact, but here's my attempt:

Experimental jetpack + experimental suit to allow you to survive its use + hotshot test pilot = Contrailblazer!

With the servers being down, I decided to go back into Champions Online and remind myself of the costume editor there. I really appreciate the greater number of options and materials, but no matter what I do, the characters' faces always look "plasticy" or toy-like. While CoX's models aren't perfect by any means, they definitely look more realistic, IMO...
Here's an example, (I will say this much - I greatly appreciate the green-screen room in the tailor, there):

Here's my homage to the greatest slasher killer ever.
Is that 1st one a tribute to his NES depiction?

A minor member of the Seelie court of Paragon City, who adopted one too many "bad habits" from its human populace, "The Midnight Sprite" has decided to immerse herself in said culture and fully embrace the heroic lifestyle...

The heiress to "Eldritch Cola", with a nearly unlimited R&D budget, aspirations to be a hero, and an ego to match, had her engineers develop the Tactical Heroic Interdiction Response SuiT, or "THIRST", so she could make those aspirations a reality. Now going by "The Pop-Star", she's ready to deliver a heaping load of refreshing justice to villains everywhere!

What program is everyone using to post these pics? I would like to add mine but don't know how.
I just use windows in-built "snip & sketch" tool to capture mine; You just launch the program, shrink it down to its smallest size, then alt+tab to it while CoH is running, and click "New" to kind of freeze the window and select what you want to capture. You get good at timing the animations playing out in the power customization section of the costume editor...

Sometimes you're up against the clock, but a select few make the clock work to their advantage. One such person is "The Timeline Trooper":

I've had a bit of "costume-creator's block" lately, but I think this one came out rather nice; Don't let her darker coloration scare you, as "The Queen Beeyond" is here to help!

I seem to recall from long, long ago you could make "Genie hair" but for the life of me I can't seem to locate it in costume options. Was it a hat maybe? Or just a hairstyle?
There is a hairstyle under "standard" called "topknot", which is what I think you're looking for...

I'm looking for a bit of advice for my latest character "Daemchyld" - She's a half-demon who had lived outside of society for most of her life. She wears a mixture of demonic armor and various fashions from the human world that catch her eye. Thanks for your consideration!

They need to add a "fireman's carry" interaction option, where a specific team member can literally pick up the hostage and carry them to safety. Apply a movement & defense debuff to the one doing the carrying or something, but let us do this!
