Power Pool/Epic Pool/Anything to Speed Up MM Minions.
Rudra replied to Zeraphia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Two issues I have with MM pets: 1) As @Zeraphia said in the OP and has been commented on in other threads, including by me, is how slow pets are compared to the MM. Even with no powers active (not Sprint, Super Speed, Speed of Sound, Ninja Run, or any other powers to boost the MM's speed) and with no speed boosts from enhancement sets, enhancements, or buffing powers, MM pets just can't keep up with the MM. Yes, they do teleport to the MM if the distance becomes too great, but as @Greycat said, it doesn't always work and the pets will normally just stay running after the MM lagging further behind. When it does work? Is because the MM is using a travel power, so the pets teleport to catch up. 2) Pet delay before taking any action after using any door or portal. For what feels like forever, but is actually just a few seconds, MM pets will just stand there and do nothing after using any map transfers. I get this is so they can figure out where they are for pathfinding, but when the door/portal is hot and the pets just stand there while the MM is getting blasted? It's a bit of a nuisance. So yeah, I would really like at least the pet movement speed to be improved. Jumping isn't their problem. They can jump pretty much anywhere the MM can go. Super Jumping does nothing to help them keep up with the MM until they have to vault something though. (Just watch the pets. They don't jump to speed up, and they would look silly if they did.) -

There are 4 Targeted AoE Damage enhancement sets that have range enhancements in them. 2 have 1 such enhancemet, and 2 have 2. The sniper sets have 1 such enhancement each except for Experienced Marksman which has 2. -

That's no reason not to do something for the first time, is it? Besides, you are incorrect; there is one. There is one what? A grenade with an interrupt time? Where? Sleep Grenade Launches a Sleep Grenade at long range from beneath the barrel of your Assault Rifle. This small blast does minor smashing damage but affects all foes within the blast radius, and can knock them back. You must be level 38 and have Body Armor or Cryo Freeze Ray before selecting this power. Damage Minor(Smashing) Recharge Slow Minimum Level 38 (Blaster) Effects Ranged (Targeted Aarea of Effect) Foe Sleep Enhancements Enhance Accuracy Enhance Damage Reduce Endurance Cost Enhance Range Increase Attack Rate Enhance Sleep Duration Set Categories Ranged AoE Damage Sleep And from City of Data: Interrupt Time - Sleep Grenade has no interrupt time. Neither does it use snipe set enhancements. (Edit: If you're instead talking LRM Rocket, it does have an interrupt time, but it is not a grenade and cannot slot sniper set enhancements according to your link. As for why it can't slot snipe set enhancements? My guess would be because it isn't a snipe.) -

Humor aside, unless you intend to have a chaplain appear, hand the character the grenade, and then read out the instructions which was a big part of the humor; it's a grenade. It shouldn't have an interrupt time because no grenades in the game have interrupt times. It's not a snipe attack, it's an AoE. It should not be given an interrupt time just to be able to justify using sniper set enhancements. Especially on a power set you have set up as melee focused for the character as well as the pets. (If you want to make it different from other grenade powers in the game? Change it to a location AoE instead of a targeted one.) My ha'penny take on it anyway. -

Spears weren't typically thrown, javelins were. Spears could be thrown, but their primary use was to stab someone at distance, usually while using a shield to protect you from the enemy's spear (or other weapon). Hmm... maybe we should ask for a spear Scrapper, Tanker, and Brute power set? -

MMs do just fine in melee range. Despite their ranged inherent attacks, my MMs spend a great deal of time in melee range, though that is usually just because I don't pull back unless I need to retreat. Particularly my ninjas MM since the ninjas vastly prefer melee range and I want to keep them in Supremacy's AoE. When I still had it, my beast MM did as well. Never had a problem surviving in melee with any MM. -

Sniper attacks are long ranged, high accuracy attacks. Grenades are short range, area effect attacks. (Edit: So it's the difference of picking off targets with vital/critical shots, as opposed to taking down groups of enemies with an area attack.) Even knights only used lances during cavalry charges and jousting matches. When unhorsed, they favored sword, axe, or mace. I'd say spears could be substituted for lances and still maintain theme, but spears, halberds, and other polearms were typically the weapons of the regular infantry, not the nobles that commanded them. (Edit: Though I do acknowledge that spears predated lances for cavalry charges, they still were not knightly weapons when unhorsed. And lances weren't used for melee combat, even on horseback.) And the whip in CoX isn't a melee weapon. It's a ranged one. Even Lash, as a "Close" attack has a 20 feet range. Well beyond lance or any poleweapon. Edit again: I know using wikipedia as a reference is bad, but here anyways: A lance is a spear designed to be used by a mounted warrior or cavalry soldier (lancer). In ancient and medieval warfare, it evolved into the leading weapon in cavalry charges, and was unsuited for throwing or for repeated thrusting, unlike similar weapons of the javelin and pike family typically used by infantry. Lances were often equipped with a vamplate, a small circular plate to prevent the hand sliding up the shaft upon impact, and beginning in the late 14th century were used in conjunction with a lance rest attached to the breastplate. Though best known as a military and sporting weapon carried by European knights and men-at-arms, the use of lances was widespread throughout Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa wherever suitable mounts were available. Lancers of the medieval period also carried secondary weapons such as swords, battle axes, war hammers, maces and daggers for use in hand-to-hand combat, since the lance was often a one-use-per-engagement weapon; assuming the lance survived the initial impact without breaking, it was often (depending on the lance) too long, heavy, and slow to be effective against opponents in a melee.[1] -

You lost me with sniper enhancements on a grenade. Aside from that? Looks interesting. Edit: Personally though? If this power set is to use melee attacks on a MM? I would rather sword, axe, mace, flail, or hammer. (Edit again: Or pick or whip.) Not a fan of lances. -
The pets would have virtually no survivability with the support secondaries to keep them alive removed. Even if the MM has a Tanker's taunt aura with every attack. And to make up for the new AT having armor sets as either its primary or secondary, it would lose Bodyguard Mode. ... which at least would help the pets survive since they wouldn't be taking any portion of the character's suffered damage any more....
-
The pets themselves should also probably lose any control powers they have as well. Like the oni's ST hold ability.

Typo: extra ':' in Tina Mcintire story arc
Rudra replied to FatalNoogie's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There is a sub-section on the Bugs forum where typos are supposed to be submitted. This is the Suggestions and Feedback forum. Post typo errors here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/32-bug-reports/ Edit: Or more specifically, here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/13681-report-typos-here/ -
That would be the consideration. A rain effect that is applied to every character is possible, because the snow effect already exists. It is the flooding part that is the major problem. Aside from the fact that if Talos is flooded, given the way it sits above the water the way it does, then Skyway City would be flooded too. If the water is stopped before it gets high enough to flood the lower levels of Talos (and thus stay out of Skyway), you still have the zone water elevation problem. And with the way water works in this game, you can't just elevate the water tiles or stack another on top of it because players can still get in the water and the different tiles becomes glaringly obvious, as well as their inability to stay at the surface. So the proposal would need multiple versions of the map to work. And how do you cycle different maps for an active zone? Something like this could work for an instanced arc or TF/SF or trial, but not a zone event.

Yep. Troll. Your purpose is to keep people responding to you. Buh-bye.

🤣🤣🤣 Oh, boy. You do try. You try so hard. Just stop. Please. No more wiki nonsense. The wiki is not the basis for CoX. No matter how much you want it to be. It is not the basis for absolutely any super powers used in any context anywhere. It may take things from other sources. It may even have some overlap with existing games. You know why? Because a lot of super powers are common across mystic, super, sci-fi, and other genres. "Fire manipulation =Fire Manipulation | Superpower Wiki | Fandom Empathy = Empathy | Superpower Wiki | Fandom Darkness manipulation, Affinity, control, Blast, melee exct = Darkness Manipulation | Superpower Wiki | Fandom this sums up what i have been saying " News Flash: Fire Control/Manipulation, Empathy Control/Manipulation, Darkness Control/Manipulation, and all the other powers you say come from the wiki? They have been in existence since the first writers of characters that used those powers wrote them up. And some names are more commonly used than others. Just stop with this nonsense already. I'm trying to treat you as just another person with a difference of opinion, but the garbage you insist on spewing is leading me to think you are instead a troll.

The OP and your 'cannot re-enter mission' option would also punish players who are playing through lag and are defeated through no fault of their own. And the "ablative team" option you are citing would be an RP thing and something the team leader can discuss with the team to get buy in. It is not something anyone has the right to impose on others. "You cannot use the hospital or base if defeated" is something everyone involved should agree on, not have shoved down their throats by a power hungry team leader. Edit: And before anyone tells me "but what about the enemies buffed and similar settings we already have?", those actually affect game difficulty and provide challenge. Making players remain stuck defeated until someone decides to rez them does not affect difficulty or provide any challenge. It's punitive in nature.

I agree that the character's reaction at the end of the arc is... disappointing. Your other worldly double scarifices himself/herself/itself (if a non-gendered construct), and the character just accepts it rather matter of factly. That's a rather cold, even cruel, hero. At the least, the player should be given a range of choices for how to react. The dialogue for Jenni Adair doesn't even need to change for that. And yeah, while it makes for an 'interesting' cut scene of your double's sacrifice, the fact the plyaer does reach the room with the double in it, and game cuts to death monologue for portal room and base to explode is rather restrictive. Using @Greycat's example of different options, the mission could be updated to "Find Mission Exit (or Rescue Your Double)". Now the player has the choice of doing as the double said and running for the exit, which completes the mission and ejects the character if (s)he/it reaches the mission exit, or pressing on to try and save the double. Now to add further complexity to the coding nightmare, if running the arc a 2nd time, the character may take another trip to Mender Valen to see about an Ourobors teleporter or may take the initiative to visit another character to get a spare mediporter. After all, if we can get spare mediporters for other NPCs we have to rescue in other missions, why can't we get one for our double? The player would have to take the extra steps to get the mediporter, but (s)he/it is already tinkering with the time stream going through Ouroboros anyway. Then, if the devs still wish to remove the double as opposed to red side where the double decides to go off and find his/her/its own fate rather than be tied to you, forever vanishing from your character's story, then the double can choose to return to his/her/its original dimension or embark on a separate career elsewhere away from your character. (Of course, I still find it to be a kludge of the story that after the missions the double ran with your character to get to that point, that somehow (s)he/it still doesn't have a mediporter despite all that time and work.)

Let's start with the original game developers. Then go into the current devs. Tack on the current player base with some exceptions (I have to account for you after all). You just can't let it go. Use the wiki all you want. Noone cares if you do. It's your choice, feel free to do as you please. If you want to use it to define and create your characters for you? Go ahead. If you want to use it for ideas? Go ahead. If you want the devs or your fellow players to be bound by it and its limited interpretation of powers and their uses? Or to impose how powers are listed in that site as how they should work in City of Heroes? Stop. Just, stop. That site has no relevance to the superhero genre beyond itself. It has no bearing on how people can imagine, create, and present their characters or the powers they want their characters to have. It is not an authoritative mandate on what players call their powers or make them work. It can make for a decent launch point to come up with concepts if you want to use it as such, but it is by no means comprehensive, authoritative, or binding in any capacity. There is no MMO, RPG, or other game that uses that wiki as a reference for how the game should or does work. There is no comic, novel, show, or movie that uses that wiki as a reference for how powers in the comic, novel, show, or movie should or do work. So stop using that wiki as a mandate for CoX. It is NOT a CoX wiki. It is NOT a mandate. It is a publicly written/sourced site with no quality controls, incomplete data, and a LOT of redundancy and unnecessary limitations on concept.
-
I see you shifted from saying that wiki is the proper reference for things to saying that powers need limitations or they become overpowered. Welcome to gaming, where in-game powers come with preset limitations baked right in. In CoX, it is the devs that create power sets, design/implement the associated mechanics of the set, design/implement the animations for the power sets, and determine what the limitations of those powers and power sets are. Typically by keeping the new power sets as generic as they can so they fit with the five game origins. And they do so based on what they've seen/read in comics, or seen in movies, or just came up with from their own imaginations. Without the need to reference a poorly written wiki with no quality control (anyone can edit it at any time to say what they want, it says so right on the wiki).

Fire manipulation from that site: Also Called Pyrokinesis Flameokinesis/Flambokinesis Agnikinesis/Agnimancy Flame Control/Manipulation/Dominion Ignikinesis/Ignimancy Fire Element Control Capabilities Users can generate, shape, and manipulate fire, the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products, flame being the visible portion of the fire. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different. The user can also completely control the temperature of the fire at will. Fire Manipulation as used in comics and super hero games since the dawn of comics: Create fire, shape fire, manipulate fire (increasing/decreasing size of effect), move fire, maintain fire (without need for available fuel), absorb fire, extinguish fire, project fire (as projectiles), enflame (wrap in fire without causing harm to target), warm target (including cooking), cauterize wound, enhance melee attack (armed or unarmed, as per enflame), illumination, and propulsion. I'm sure I'm missing at least a few other uses. None of which are covered by your precious wiki as part of fire manipulation. Would you like me to pick apart your precious wiki's empathy entry next? Gravity manipulation? Darkness manipulation? Or the medical entries I already pointed out in this thread? Super powers are only as limited as the individual's imagination. They are not bound by some poorly written wiki. And neither is CoX. As was previously stated up thread, CoX was based on the Hero System Champions pen and paper game. It is not the same, but it was based on it. (And given how expansive the Hero System is compared to the wiki? I'll take Hero System over that wiki any day.) However, this is a video game. Video games cannot be as open-ended as the Hero System is. (I think the devs tried to make it so, but couldn't do it.) So you wind up with thematic sets that are basically a single solitary power that the character develops into up to 9 different uses. Which is also far more comprehensive than that wiki you insist is the reference for everything, even when those things predate the wiki by decades.
-
No, not the same as the wiki. And that wiki has no correlation to what can, cannot, should, or should not be done in CoX. You can use it as a reference, or handicap in my opinion, of what powers can do. That's your choice. However, it is not a valid reference for anything in CoX. Not for whether or not Numina is a mage because she lacks a physical body (she is a mage despite lacking a physical body) or if she is a ghost for lacking a physical body (she isn't, she's an astral projection). Not for whether any powers or power sets are "correctly named" or "correctly utilized" in CoX. Not for whether or not a power set is or is not magical despite not having magic, arcane, eldritch, or anything else of that nature in its name. Not for anything in the game. At all. You can use the site as a reference all you want. Do not seek to require others to abide by it as well. Just as you using the site as a reference is your choice, not using it is everyone else's choice.
-
And Snow Hopper for logging out at the shadow shard style vent that launches you back up! 😄 Seriously? I like that. Ski Patrol and Lodge Lounger works for me.
-
It is very different from the wiki. The wiki tries to be an expansive list of all thing super, but is instead a lesson in nonsensical hilarity. It wants to be an authority on all things super, but fails at it. Not least of which is because someone somewhere has a different idea of what powers are and do. The people who imagine and write up their powers? They aren't constrained by what someone else writes on a wiki. They are constrained by their ability to create, innovate, and imagine. Edit: If you want to constrain yourself to what others tell you is a super power, how it looks, what it does, how it can be applied? That's fine. Your choice. If you want to constrain yourself to using that site as your end-all-be-all reference for all things super? That's fine. That's your choice. If you want everyone else to be likewise constrained? Well, now we have a problem. That site has nothing to with City of Heroes/Villains. It has nothing to do with Champions Online. It has nothing to do with DC Universe Online. It has nothing to do with anything super character related other than itself. It's that simple.

There's too much push back when people ask for instant 50's, but if we instead ask for instant 40s, then surely we can get that and then push for 50s since we have 40s? ... ... ... ... ... ... No thanks. PL'ers can already effectively crank out instant 50s. Use the existing process.
