  1. I have a BS/SD stalker and what a lot of people forget is Against all Odds stacks +Dmg with the number of mobs around you.

So you can go from a 16% buff for 1 npc to a 64% buff for 10 npc's around you.

With BU that goes to 145% buff (80%) add assault and thats 156%(10%) and if guassians proc fires thats 263%.

Musculature just makes it an animal.

(Note i stacked some extra +dmg from set bonus which add up to 27% DMG plus the above)

Secondly shield is easy to cap if you take tough/weave.

People are probably like "OMG Fighting pool" but there are 2 reasons why here.

Obviously weave for the def but with reactive defence set for the +Res.

But the big plus here is with Tough and Deflection slotted for resistance it is really easy to cap the Smashing and Lethal Resistance on shield with a little bit of set +res bonuses.

73% S/L (other resists in the 30% range) 60% Melee Def(parry playing a big part here - 43% with no Parry) 50% ranged 42% AoE

I take Body Mastery to offset any end issues and to add a total of 4 chance for HP procs.

    So 244 HP 3 times per minute.(roughly)

    And an +Absorb proc.

As for Energy Aura being "The Best" that's pretty subjective.

I prefer Ninjitsu or SR over EA mainly down to the ease of capping Melee/Ranged/AoE def rather than all the typed def like S/L/NRG etc.

Most sets that have positional Def normaly have nice bonuses like +Dmg or S/L resists and Procs for more dmg also (looking at you mako's).

I didn't attack anyone so why are you attacking me with that comment ?

Maybe don't dump on the person who literally wrote a beginner's guide to be a stalker, and then now has gone and made a list of every possible Stalker build with full slotting and gave a listing of what they feel are the best primaries and secondaries based on their experience and giving logical reasons for it.

He stated he is giving his opinion because everyone has an opinion and is free to voice that opinion yes ?

    Quote

You complain about lacking data and then provide none yourself or even logical reasoning for why his choices were wrong.

I didn't say he was wrong i said i disagree with his choices..BIG difference.

Because everyone has an opinion everyones opinions on what they think is the best sets would be different.

Making a list of what i think the best sets are would be a waste of my time as there would always be someone who disagrees and discussions like that always devolve into arguments so starting a "guide" with an opinion on what the best sets are is not the best way to go about things.

Maybe a break down on what the sets do and let people deside themselves what sets they enjoy the most would be better.

As for the builds. They are a great starting point but lack experience in some of the builds.(the op even states hes go no experience with certain sets) So you take them at face value.

A little bit more research maybe for the builds ?

  3. I normaly avoid threads like this as they are opinion based.

All those rankings are the opinion of the author and i disagree with most of the original thread.

The builds as stated are middle of the road builds and not how i would build a stalker which could alter how it performs.

As there are no stats or any figures of any kind to backup those rankings it is best to take them as the opinion of 1 person and not to take them as gospel.

    just my 2 pence.

I'll go back to my  BS/Shield stalker now because 1 shotting NPC's is fun.

  4. I can tell you havn't even tried it so you have NO experience with dark cones so you have no foundation to build your assumption on and since i know you and know you are completely biased on DoT and cones you have ZERO grounds to say your build is better than anyone elses.

    Please stop.

  5. I love my Earth/Storm and i have 26 procs in it.

I sometimes forget to drop stoney because mobs just die.

I also have a Earth/Elec Dom that is a lot of fun.

I know people have said quicksand is skipable but i always take it as you end up pairing powers together like VG+Quicksand or Stalgmites and Quicksand just to keep them contained.

  6. I like my Elec/Elec for tanking..so funny

My DP/Ninja strangly has capped ranged and nearly capped melee def with some S/L resist and the heal. Suprised even me.

Dark/Dark/soul Such Wow much fun. It's gaining levels in my opinion.

AR/Dev will always be my fav.

  7. I have played around a bit with dark/dark and talked to snarky and i think it has potential to do a huge amount of DOT in a wide area.

But if you stick to the primary or second you end up cornered into doing single target damage which is fine but not that great for TF/Trials etc.

    It's all about the DOT's.

roflmao.  Dark/Dark Blaster is one of the most survivable Blasters out there.  due to the constant to hit debuffs it brings a lot of damage mitigation to the team.  While still allowing very respectable (if not the hallowed fire fire combo) levels od damage.  The Single Target chain is very solid.  Standing off to help burn down an AV is not embarrassing on a Dark Dark.  Personally I use 4 cones for the bulk of my AoE work.  I can hose a group for as long as they stand there.  Being immobilized, with to hit debuffs, while being ate by waves of Dark energy.  The tier 9 Blackstar...hmmmm.... Less damage than a Controller?  Please.  Post that build!

Snarky is helping to improve my fun 🙂

i like that you use Soul Storm.  The two holds are so powerful during late game trials.  i use them on Victoria robots that like to pacify you, on paragon protectors and on mother mayhem during minds of mayhem.  not to mention backup during hami raid and LGTF.  My build has a lot of Accuracy so I actually threw the Purple Grav Anchor Hold Proc in Penumbral Grasp for a high priced ghetto 3rd hold.

Yeah i have 77 so that sounds like a good idea.

  14. Just tested this on my AR/Dev

Tested with no buffs/insp on a lvl 51 Chief soldier in RWZ

    Got

    201 Lethal

    144 fire

    100 Lethal

    Spoiler

Trip Mine: You hit Chief Soldier with your Trip Mine for 201.61 points of Lethal damage.
Trip Mine: You hit Chief Soldier with your Trip Mine for 144 points of Fire damage.
Trip Mine: You hit Chief Soldier with your Trip Mine for 100.8 points of Lethal damage.

Turned on Assault/Tactics same damage numbers

Ate 4 Damage inspirations (Reds) Got the same damage numbers.

    All on the same NPC.

TLDR Leadership has no effect on trip mines

Red Insp have no effect on trip mines

I'm not seeing any reason why BU/Aim would work on trip mines.

In the past on the old live servers it was, but not sure if it got changed or not.  I know when I played the game back in the day that

i was able to use Aim on them, but that was well before the game shut down and I dont know if Cryptic ever changed that.

I do know that now you can lay a very large stack of Trip Mines on top of each other and one shot EBs.  It takes time, but if you go around a corner, keep dropping Trip Mines on top of each other till they start detonating (timer running out), then pull the EB and stand by the mine field around the corner, the EB comes around the corner and dies.  EBs that fly like Nightstar are problematic to do this with as you have to play with them some to get them to fly low enough to trigger the mines, but any nonflying EB can be one shotted.

    Oh yeah.

On live a lot of people took TP Foe to TP NPC's onto trip mines.

Obviously that dosn't work to great on AV's/EB's.

Toe bombing is a thing i do a lot on my /Dev but it is really hard to pull off with /Traps because it is interruptible.
