HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
Excraft replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Doesn't matter. Right now, it's at the sole discretion of the people who are maintaining the game. I'm sorry that list doesn't include your friend. -

Good point. I didn't think of that. Agreed. -
Dismissive, and Troll Encouraging Behavior
Excraft replied to Kistulot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I can understand the frustration here, but I will add - and I absolutely don't mean this to be insulting so please, do not take it that way - your remarks are coming across with an air of entitlement. I can understand why GMs and Council folk want to steer clear of these discussions because it should be abundantly clear that they'll never be able to please everyone. Objectively, and whether this is a good thing or bad, this server belongs to the HC team. We are here at their pleasure, not the other way around. This isn't a commercial property anymore, so it's not like a commercial product in that it's not reliant upon a thriving community to keep the lights on. The people on the HC team are the ones maintaining the code, handling all of the support requests, managing finances and the rest, all on their own time. If God forbid some of the volunteers running this server should pass on, I have zero objection to HC memorializing that person in game. HC is a volunteer group who are graciously sharing their efforts with the rest of us. This server doesn't belong to you, me or anyone else that isn't handling the code or doing everything else that needs to keep this operation running. We can all disappear tomorrow and HC will continue on. It will still be there for their family and friends to enjoy whether any of us are here or not. I'm not saying this to be mean, it's just a simple fact. Let me be very clear - I am in no way, shape or form suggesting that the people on the Council or HC are cruel or heartless or in general don't care about us or the community. Far from it. As I said, they're graciously sharing their love and passion for the game with us when they really don't need to. It speaks volumes about how they feel about everyone, and should be obvious to anyone here how much passion they have for this project with how gracious they are with their free time in sharing the game with us. They deserve our respect and thanks. I know it's something I need to do better at myself, and I'm trying to do better myself. I'm very sorry for your loss. -
HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.

This seems more problematic than anything in that it would allow people to edit these text files on their local machine and add whatever they want. Who determines which is the "correct/official" file for everyone to use? Better to just use the existing text objects already in the base editor, tedious as it might be. -

First, thank you for taking the time to reply to the thread. It's appreciated and I hope that your response helps those who felt you're all ignoring everyone feel better. I hope they now know that you're indeed listening. I'd like to throw my support behind the hologram idea for bases as it makes this accessible and fair for everyone. It puts creating memorials where it belongs; in the hands of the players. Players can determine how best to honor their loved ones and friends without putting any undue burden on you all, and you avoid the inevitable arguing over who gets included and why. I do have some questions and concerns about the hologram idea though. How do players get access to a deceased players character costume in order to recreate it for the hologram? How is it determined what player(s) get access to the costumes to add the hologram to their base? Will any player be able to add the likeness of any deceased players character to their base, even if they didn't know them? Potentially, a player may not have wanted their character included this way. Is there a way for players to opt out of this program so they will not be included? Potential issues with competing memorial bases for someone as to which is the "official" one and which aren't Overall, I think the hologram idea for bases is the best route to go. -

How so? I think you're ascribing negativity where there isn't any. I'm also in the camp for using bases for creating player memorials. They can be customized however people see fit and can be shared with everyone. HC coming up with a policy to determine who is or isn't "worthy" enough isn't going to lead to anything good. -
Avengers: Doomsday - Full Cast Announcement
Excraft replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I think what we're getting is alternate universe Tony Stark, not Victor Von Doom. Hydra won and Tony Stark became Dr. Doom instead of Iron Man and Chris Evans will be Hydra Cap. I can't help but do an eye roll and groan reading about this. I agree, news of Scarlett Johansson joining the cast isn't far behind. Marvel/Disney already knows Captain Falcon: Brave New World is going to be a disaster and there's really nothing on the slate to generate any excitement, so they're throwing money at the original actors to get them back. The MCU died after Endgame in my opinion. They got lucky with Spider-Man since then, but even that's beginning to play itself out. -
In this case, if Group Fly was disabled as the default, the opt in to enable it would be selection of the power itself from the flight pool. Soon as you've selected it as part of the leveling/power selection process, you're granted the hidden power to enable it. If you respec and remove it, the hidden power is removed.

Bots look cool with rocket boots?
-
I see. So long as you're ok, the other people on the team/league can go screw. Got it. And people wonder why MMs with group fly get kicked from teams...
-
And what if your use of Group Fly is negatively impacting the survival and damage of everyone else on the team? Or doesn't that matter? That's part of playing a MM though.

Ascendant took my spot in Steel Canyon, now I can't use it anymore. I demand he be moved! 🤣

This was fun for a while, but did get old quickly and I'm glad they did add the aggro caps. The game is much more interesting with aggro caps than without.

Same here.

How To Train Your Dragon - Live action
Excraft replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Yup. Another fine example of Hollywood churning out movies no one asked for. -
My brother took the nieces and nephew to see this. He said it stunk and wished he could get that 2 hours of his life back. No. Thank. You.

Finally had a free evening and was able to watch this last night. Fun movie! I enjoyed it. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have great chemistry together. The cameos were great too. Story was very simple, but I think that helped more than hurt the movie.

Single Enhancement Slot Respecification
Excraft replied to ShardWarrior's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It also doesn't mean everything is impossible based on your first sentence. Sometimes a fresh look at an old problem yields new ideas. Sometimes it confirms it can't be done. Is that a demand this get done? No. Does that mean that this is not impossible to program? No. Yes, we all know that there are a lot of things that can't be done with the game code. Yes, we all know the chances that most every idea posted in these forums will never see the light of day. We get it. We heard you. None of that should be a deterrent from people posting suggestions, thoughts and ideas and dreaming about things that they feel would improve the game. I can't speak for him, but from what I can tell players like @ShardWarrior have been around a long time and don't need to have his "expectations tempered", especially when they've already acknowledged the limitations you've mentioned. -
Single Enhancement Slot Respecification

I like the idea of having the option to respec slots only. This would be a very nice QoL feature. It's the "won't happen because of how the game works" excuse that's been repeated ad nauseam. There's a whole host of things that the game couldn't do before that it can do now. And no one is holding their breath for any changes. This subforum is for sharing ideas, even if they will never get implemented. -
I don't think it's the strongest set there is, but I don't know that I'd say it sucks. At least not all the time. It's fun to play solo. On teams, it's absolutely terrible due to the lengthy animation times.

I know what you mean. For some reason, I think Gymkata is criminally underrated. Don't ask me why though. It is truly awful. lol

I'm sorry that my opinion upsets you, hurts your feelings, offends your sensibilities and runs counter to your view of the world. I won't change my mind or my opinion on this issue, but I do promise to try and do better to take your gentle feelings into account next time I make a post. I certainly don't want to upset you or hurt your feelings.

Pot, meet kettle.

I never read it so I can't say for sure. I'll take your word for it though, and point remains... poor guy couldn't catch a break and took backseat in his own comic. 🤣 You're doing the exact same thing you're whining about others doing. No, there is no nuance for me. Winter Soldier isn't an A-List character. Feel free to disagree.
