Veracor is still around to some extent; he was just on an MSR the other day. There's been lots of folks who were staples on the shards leaving the game for various reasons. Sometimes burn out hits; do we have proof that Veracor, et al left due to the direction Homecoming has taken the game? And as far as I'm aware, TinPex weren't really changed/affected by the enemy faction buffs HC has made. But Council and CoT getting buffed was kind of necessary.

It was just the first thing I can think of when I saw the zombies mentioned lol. They're technically gender neutral just by the nature of what they are. But I did forget to mention I'm in support of the OP's idea for the other ones. I'm not sure that the harem/pimp argument against this holds a lot of merit given that reverse harems and female pimps are a thing as well. And again, zombies are gender neutral, so necrophilia arguments don't really work either. -
And as noted in beta, this power does not animate in the costume creator either.

Interesting... So it animates in game then? Because Tide Pool has no animation at all inside of the costume creator (it occasionally animates using whichever power you clicked on before hand, but otherwise defaults to standing there and the water pooling at your hip before appearing on the ground). I had so little time to actually play during the beta that I did not try to see if my character was animating this power (I just assumed it wasn't based on the costume creator). Thanks for pointing this out as I will be looking for it moreso now when I can play. Since you mentioned it seems to be bugged for combat, I wonder if that's why it doesn't work in the costume creator then. I still don't understand why this wasn't looked at in beta when we caught it and why it shipped out live this way. I appreciate you correcting me on this though as it means maybe someone (myself included) can get better videos or something of the wonky behavior for the devs so they can fix this issue. -

I know what you're getting at here, lol. But in all seriousness, a powerset shipping to live completely lacking an animation for one of the core powers seems a bit unacceptable. I know it's a volunteer team and all that, but it's not like they can't say this wasn't caught and found in beta. And of all the feedback to ignore, why would you ignore a power completely lacking an animation? -

I still don't understand how this made it to live with no animation. It was even mentioned multiple times in the focused feedback thread for Marine Affinity, and I posted a video showing it having no cast animation. -

General consensus from the beta was that Shoal Rush and/or Brine are skippable powers in Marine right now. If you take white cap, then shoal rush can be skipped as you can use whitecap to trigger frenzy. Shoal Rush can be worth taking for folks who want to throw procs in it, though.

In regards to the OP, from the limited amounts I was able to test the set in beta, I like Marine on controllers and MM's best. Necro/Marine is some pretty ridiculous fun, imo, and Dark on a controller was feeling pretty good as well.

In the context of CoH, beasts are still perfectly fine and fun to play, they just happen to sit at the bottom of the damage tier now that the lesser primaries got reworked. Everyone's always gonna have sets they gel with and sets they don't. 🙂 To not keep derailing: Beasts work with just about any secondary, there's been a lot of good suggestions in this thread. I do recommend trying them with kinetics if you want a wild and chaotic ride lol. I think the new Marine Affinity might make a good pairing with them too. In regard to ninjas, they saw a nice rework recently that helped them out a lot. These guys tend to be on the squishier side, so pair nicely with secondaries that offer them ways to stay upright. I don't have a high level ninja MM yet, so I'm not sure of specific ideas. I feel like storm would be fun. I have a ninja/nature that seems enjoyable so far as a baby. I also have a ninja/cold, but I'm undecided if I like that combo yet.
