  1. Was anyone else hugely disappointed that you can't fight Blue Steel as an AV in Max's mission? He's a wussass EB. Memes lied to me!
  2. Unfortunately you can't access the AE database form inside an instance, which SG bases are.
  3. There is already a "canon-related" tag under the advanced search options, as well as a "non-canon" tag. We have some tools to find the kind of stories we want to play, it's just that those stories are drowned out by the farms.
  4. Not all of us would prefer this. Keeping player-created missions in the holodeck gives arc creators more flexibility in the kind of stories they want to tell. I've played more than a few arcs that have nothing to do with the CoH lore and have no place in the game world, but are just as much SFMA and deserve the same level of recognition as stories that do fit into canon.
  5. We're all so reliant on spellcheckers these days that nobody knows how to spell anymore. Yes, that includes me. Getting a friend to test is hard. There used to be quite a few active reviewers in the AE community who would helpfully point out all your typos and spelling errors, but nothing like that started up on HC. Maybe it would be a good idea to start up an editor exchange, an "I'll edit yours if you edit mine" kinda deal.
  6. People were playing user-created content to level up their 50th alt because they'd already run all the official content multiple times. This was the point of having user-created content, because players will always finish content much faster than the devs can create it. If there had been no rewards, AE would have been a ghost town after about a week; as it was, the story-creator and -player community was active for years, despite a complete lack of dev support for AE's intended purpose after the initial launch.
  7. Vahz tend to come out at night, don't they? They also like to hang out in alleys and under overpasses and such out-of-the-way places.
  8. If you search any of the existing tags you will find farms upon farms. Canon-related? Farms. Complex mechanics? Farms. Romance? Nothing says "I love you" like endless ambushes on the meteor map, apparently. I don't get it either, but I also don't get why someone needs to make yet another fire farm when there are already eleventy billion of them they could use.
  9. The problem with the SFMA tag is that it's player-created and people who don't visit the forums don't know about it. We need something similar baked into AE. Every arc must be tagged Story, Farm, or Other (for challenge arcs, RP maps, or whatever) with "other" being the default, and tagging a farm as "story" being reportable as spam. Yes, that last part is necessary because otherwise the "story" tag will fill up with farms and we'll be right back where we started. Demoting the old Dev's Choice arcs when new Devs Choice arcs were selected was a bad idea, since Dev's Choice are the only stories that give full rewards. Maybe demote them for a week or two, to bring attention to the new ones, but it's been a month and a half. I do think it would be nice to have an way to have arcs flagged for full rewards without necessarily becoming Dev's Choice; something that doesn't comment on the quality of the arc, just "this is not a farm." Dev's Choice is always going to be subjective, and there are a lot of arcs that don't line up with the tastes of whoever is making those selections, or just frankly aren't very good, but aren't tuned to give disproportionate rewards so ideally they wouldn't be punished because of farming. But that's probably way beyond the scope of what a small volunteer team can do. Star ratings are largely useless since first you need people to find and play your arc to rate it. Going through the SFMA tag, there is less than a page of 5-star arcs with ratings in the double digits.
  10. Yes, it does. But, the enemies get their powers at the lowest level players get the powers. Which means if you give them, for instance, Knockout Blow to keep high-level characters on their toes, they'll have it at level 8. You do not want to fight a mob with KO Blow at level 8. So you have to give customs fewer powers if the arc is meant for low-level players, which will make them a pushover for high-level players.
  11. Give your boss some more powers. Just make sure that the challenge is appropriate to the level range of the arc; you really shouldn't be using customs in a mission with too wide of a level range because something that is a reasonable challenge for a level 50 will roflstomp a level 10. You can't have a specific boss guarding a civilian. The only way to make sure they show up in the same room at least is to use a map with a "back" or "front" area that is a single room and allows for both a boss and a rescue objective. No panicky civilians, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for those people who get annoyed with how shovy those jerks are.)
  12. Except you get threads from everything, so you will, in fact be able to get all your Incarnate powers to T4 around vet level 50 even if you never set foot in incarnate content. I know this because I've done it, just to see how long it would take. (I did use shards and notices for some of the Alpha slot, because they're going to drop anyway so you might as well.)
  13. Are your bosses part of a custom group? If so, did you set them not auto-spawn? If you didn't, they'll spawn as part of regular mobs, if you do, they'll only spawn when you specifically place them as an objective.
  14. Do you really think Praetor White gives a crap about all the noobs that come pester him all the time? He doesn't have time to check out your backstory. All he's thinking about is that his girlfriend's acting weird for some reason and if you'll help him suck up to her that's good enough for him.
  15. It's a sexist joke. That is why it's not funny. Yes, it's 2020 and jokes at other people's expense are on their way to being exterminated. When one person doesn't laugh at your joke, that person doesn't have a sense of humor, but when a group of people doesn't laugh at a joke that is about them, it's because your joke sucks. Nobody wants to be offended, we want people to stop doing offensive stuff and go start an argument on the merits or lack thereof of drive-by Speed Boosts.
  16. This is why I always advertise as "Silver Mantis SF forming, level 20+ REDSIDE." Tends to weed out the hero-only players.
  17. To the people who think real-world politics do not belong in this game: why don't you also think that real-world douchebaggery shouldn't be imitated in this game?
  18. It's not that the "SG is calling" person was really needed, as such, it's that someone else could have had that spot. Especially annoying if I had to turn people away because the team filled.
  19. "Sorry, SG calling, got to go." Always on the first mission of a task force. Usually right after they die, or when they figure out that the ITF explicitly advertised as a kill most is not a speed run. Sometimes on a lower level task force when they figure out there isn't a tricked-out level 50 Brute to pretty much solo the TF for them.
  20. Team leaders who will wait around forever for a team to fill even though we have a balanced team that is entirely capable of completing the content. And on a more petty note, people who insist on "leading" but don't use reveal and constantly go the wrong way and everybody follows them, then we have to backtrack. At least make sure the floor is clear before you head to the elevator on a defeat all.
  21. If you think these are even remotely the same thing you are really missing the point. Please go back to your dudebro cave.
  22. As nearly everyone else has said, the end drain is useless unless you build around it. The set also suffers from a lack of a heavy-hitter. Fast-snipe makes the lack a little less painful, but it still means the set lags behind most others in terms of ST damage, and it doesn't have great AoE to compensate.
  23. Yeah, that's the problem with all those skyscrapers; there's nothing at ground level. Office districts have a lot of foot traffic. Ground level is a prime location for retail and food places. Where do all those Steel Canyon financial employees get their organic mocha soy lattes?
  24. To be fair though, nobody really needed to go to the Rikti Crash Site either. The Rikti respec trial is the only reason I can think of; did regular random mission doors even send you there?
  25. You can find some background on the zones on Paragon Wiki. Steel Canyon is canonically the financial district, Talos Island is relatively new and was a real estate hotspot, Founders Falls is where the rich people live, Eastgate and Woodvale were suburbs before they turned into the Hollows and Eden, Kings Row is an industrial zone that has seen better days. I read "commercial" as shopping too, and there really isn't one. There are stores scattered throughout many of the zones rather than a dedicated downtown shopping district or a mall.
