  1. This is an MMORPG, so all writing is, by definition, RP writing. Opposite examples: World Wide Red from Crimson, which suffers from old-skool mission design, but has you stop a worldwide threat that isn't caused by anyone being dumb, just Malta being competent. And it never makes you ask yourself "why am I hanging out with these dumbasses?" Redside, there's Mortimer Kal's Strike Force, which uses the tip system to make it "your idea" to force him to help you gain power. Or even the patron arcs, as bad as they are, are still better than Dr. Graves, since at least you're told upfront what you're doing and why. Again, redside is impossible to write "universal" content for, since villains can range from "I like to take things that don't belong to me" to "I want to take over the world" to "I just want to watch the world burn," but it's a very specific type of villain who will join a dumb contest because some guy told them there'd be a reward at the end, and none of my villains are that villain.
  2. Good RPG writing doesn't require you to be flexible, because the writing is flexible. Yes, there will always be some characters that the writing just doesn't work for, unless it's "generic hero" writing, and even that doesn't work for villains, but there is huge area between "must be all things to all characters" and "written with a specific character type in mind, and that character is an idiot."
  3. Some of the others show up in the Redside SSAs. They're heroes that you fight. Meanwhile, a lot of the newer redside content tries to give your character more agency, although of course everything has to revert to the status quo by the end of the arc so you don't get to keep any of the cool stuff you stole.
  4. You can't die from falling and there's nothing in the base that can kill you, and typing /stuck takes you back to the entrance. So the coolness of floating rocks trumps the falling risk.
  5. I have it, but I got it ages ago, so it might have broken in one of the patches. The only other thing I can think of is that you might need to set to Architect Rewards for it to award.
  6. Did you build this inside the plot, @Dacy? If you didn't, what's the floor texture you used for the gym and restaurant?
  7. I could do that! I just did that! Hopefully also made it clear that clicking it will complete the mission.
  8. Okay so now that I've put some actual thought into this mission, I've updated it a bit. Nihilii is right, the generator is too easy to accidentally destroy. I put it in so you could get mission complete rewards if you couldn't defeat all the AVs, but I'm not sure they even have those anymore, and having the timer is more important for a test, which ultimately this is. So it's gone now, and the mission will complete when you defeat all the AVs. The timer is now 2 hours. I've also changed all the enemy groups to "medium" difficulty rather than "easy," so there are more dudes for builds that do better when surrounded by dudes. My DM/SD bias is showing. This means two Vickies per spawn, and a few more robot dudes. People who don't like lots of dudes can always turn down their difficulty. Also, HI BILL!
  9. I threw together a quick AE arc with all the Praetorian AVs. "Praetorian Invasion! (AV-soloing test)", Arc ID #15220. They're accompanied by War Works, they're all the old versions of the AVs because I couldn't find the new ones. destroying the generator completes the mission because I don't know how AE rewards work anymore, and there's a 1-hour timer in case people want to time themselves. Feedback appreciated.
  10. So what are y'all doing for Incarnate powers on your DM/SDs? Especially Destiny and Hybrid. Does the bonus damage from the Radial Assault Hybrid ignore the damage cap?
  11. Maybe among the people you run into, but if you're a farmer you're going to run into a lot of other farmers. That doesn't mean everyone farms. A lot of people find it really tedious and would rather poke their eyes out with a spork than farm, let alone roll and level a character for the sole purpose of farming.
  12. The problem seems to be, and correct me if I'm wrong on this because I have limited experience with Beam Rifle, but it seems like a set that works best at range. Whereas /Elec is all melee. Same issue as Dark/Elec and AR/Elec, the cones just don't synergize well with a blapper secondary.
  13. You don't have to level along the other tree, you can also use the other T3 in the same tree. Maybe OP's wife isn't aware that you can craft more than one ability for each slot and switch them out.
  14. My main is one of only 28 Fire/Elec Blasters, I feel kinda special now. I would have expected DM/SD to be higher for Scrappers, considering it was a bit of an FotM on live, but it seems all the shielders are going for the double tele-nukes now that that's an option.
  15. I think the tailor might be haunted. The last time I used it, the shiny new shield I put on had the ghost of the spikes from the Barbarian shield on it (mostly in and around it actually), and my aura didn't show up until I changed costumes and changed back. This was in Icon, not my base. As for the room styles, maybe you accidentally clicked "apply room style to base?" I've never had that happen, but then I haven't built inside the plot since the last patch.
  16. For a lot of builds, going for S/L/E defense is easier than ranged/AoE, because Scorpion Shield gets you a good chunk of the way there. At which point it doesn't matter if you're in melee or at range. You picked a primary with a lot of cones and a secondary that can boost the size of those cones, so the ranged playstyle is better suited to your character. I don't think anyone is disparaging Blasters who prefer to stay at range. I love my Blapper, but I just rolled an Archery/Dev with zero melee attacks. There's more than one way to skin a cat, or to annihilate a bunch of time-travelling alien Nazis in our case.
  17. Cool, I 'cause I don't team with dictator tanks who think they're indispensable so everyone has to do what they say or they'll take their ball and go home and we'll all die horribly once they're gone. Oh yes, there are groups like that, where everyone is playing like they're solo and the people who aren't built for it are SoL. But, it only takes a few spawns to determine whether your team needs you to stick with the group or if you can run off by yourself. Also, unlike a lot of those people who solo on teams, I don't leave live enemies behind me (unless we're ghosting in which case it's best to say so upfront) so if someone squishy follows me instead of the group they won't get squashed by the stuff I aggroed and couldn't be bothered killing. Like you said, Inferno is a great taunt. But usually I find that if I feel redundant there's someone else who feels the same, often a Scrapper or Brute, so we end up splitting off together. See, teamwork!
  18. Very presumptuous of you to think I want you to take any responsibility for my welfare. Nothing worse than a tanker coming over to save me when I don't need saving because their ego demands they have all the aggro all the time. Especially when a squishy who does need saving dies because said tanker hit the aggro cap trying to "save" me.
  19. You're probably being sarcastic, but yes, actually, that is what I want. If I run ahead of the tank or brute it's because I can survive doing it and I don't want to waste my attacks on things that the people who are following the tank can easily kill without me.
  20. Wow, I've never had anything shift this much. My stuff at least stays on the same 1/4 of the grid when it shifts.
  21. /SD also has a taunt aura, which makes things not run away when you're trying to kill them and allows you to kinda tank for teams. I finally got mine to 50 this week and now I'm remembering why I loved the combo so much on live.
  22. It also used to be the only way to start the Silver Mantis Strike Force, before they put her in Sharkhead.
  23. Outlevelled arcs will set to the highest level the arc is available. If you've only just outlevelled them you can compensate by raising your difficulty, but otherwise, all you can do is hope there aren't too many defeat-alls.
  24. I think they shoot energy beams at the Paladin every once in a while, so you can backtrack those to their source. binding a key to targetcustomnext conduit should also help.
  25. Looks nice, I especially like the outdoor area and the underground underwater bit is really cool. One minor thing, you might want to put some floors on the fish ponds by the entrance, I went for a swim and it took me like five minutes to figure out why the camera angle was going all wonky in a couple of them before I realized I was sinking through the ceiling of the plot.
