  1. This is my point though. If you run with the team to the next door, then tp to base and train, when you leave you will be back right next to the mission door. It's a lot faster than running to the zone trainer, which might be in completely the opposite direction as the next mission door.
  2. Speaking of running all over the place, I'm always a little surprised how few people use a base teleporter to train instead of hoofing it all the way to the zone's trainer and back when on a mission/radio team.
  3. I mostly play my 50s and I'd hate it. Mid level TFs right now are the best because nobody is walking around with all their Incarnate powers obliterating every spawn with a sideways glance like any other level 50 team does. Bleh. Scaling down from 50 still ends up leaving the Exemplar at a sizeable advantage just for having powers up to five levels over the TF max, all their slots, and potentially all or most of their IO set bonuses vs. someone who is within the level range of the TF naturally.
  4. (1) To ALLOW characters as low as 15 to join a higher level team running this. If you think about it for a sec, there has to be some range or it would be virtually impossible to form a team (at least without resorting to everyone being much higher level, exemping down) if everyone had to be exactly 20. True, they could have made signature task forces spawn at the same level as the team lead like non-signature TFs but this thing was decided way back on Live. It's not a HC invention. (2) Originally, most TFs had a minimum team size. Tarikoss needed 4 to start. Since things became so ridiculously overpowered and it became much more commonly possible to solo task forces, this restriction was lifted. That's why you can start then solo now. Combine (1) and (2) and yeah, you can get in trouble. It's been said before but this is a 20 year old game. There are not all the same guard rails and hand-holds you might expect of a more modern game. Just the way it is.
  5. This went off the rails in the OP when they tried to claim originalism: (paraphrasing)"This game was balanced around SOs". Anyone who wants to go THERE needs to reckon with how the game also wasn't balanced around every AT, much less Blasters specifically, being able to solo as easily as every other. This is only possible today for many of these historically bad soloist ATs because of Inventions and Incarnates and if you're not doing that with your Blaster then welcome to the early aughts, a time when the floors of Paragon City were kept spotlessly clean by dragging Blasters over them repeatedly.
  6. Caveat: Many of those cone AoEs it has are limited to 5 targets, which is unusual for a Tanker. Tankers normally get 10-target cones and 16-target TAoE/PBAoE type attacks. TW also has the Momentum mechanic, which can be very annoying to some. It was to me. Rather than being a state you maintain, as the name suggests, Momentum is gained for a fixed period of time and then it is lost and has to be reapplied, leading to a rollercoaster fast, fast, fast, slow, fast, fast ,fast... etc.... flow that doesn't say "Momentum" to anyone who has access to a dictionary, at least. It also seems to penalize you using anything BUT a TW attack while Momentum is up since it's just on a timer. Battle Axe is now a lot more fun since its updates. Axe Cyclone and then Pendulum is a perfect one-two AoE punch.
  7. Off topic: I like to think of that scene as Whedon's answer to the "Han Shot First" controversy. On topic: But seriously, if we could knock stuff into jet engines, I would use only the KB... to more KB converters.
  8. Polonius: "What do you read, my lord?" Hamlet: "Words, words, words."
  9. Same. Not everyone cares about clear speed. That's why I prefer to leave than to mix it up with people who might have different goals than I do. This whole never-ending forum flame-war about KB goes way back but in my opinion was always unnecessary. It's a "problem" that solves itself because either the offending KBer gets kicked, the offended KB-hater leaves, or nobody cares and the world keeps on spinning. If this thread is good for anything it's a demonstration of why you shouldn't even bother engaging people about it in game. If we can't agree here, we won't agree there. Don't even bother.
  10. I understood all that. And then I said what I said. Don't do this. It's a bad suggestion. It is not worth screwing over one's planned build just to deal with this annoyance when it's easier to walk out the door and keep your build intact. This hardly happens that often or to the degree where it's even that annoying that I DO walk out. One example I can think of was one PuG with a Energy Sentinel who would literally follow my tanker into a packed group of enemies to Nova them to the four corners of the room every time it was available. And the asshole definitely had decent recharge in his build. It was almost every spawn, if not every spawn. His scatter made sure it would take long enough to finish off the spawn that he'd be ready to do it again the next group. Another time, I recall a FF bubbler who went around with that big bubble that pushes everything away. He wasn't exactly charging in to scatter, but he definitely and totally uselessly kept pushing enemies away from the front line meleers, of which I was one. That's the kind of shit that I say is easier to walk away from than to screw over one's build to try to deal with. Not everyone even has access to an AoE Immob and some that do would potentially have to pick an entirely different epic than they planned, meaning this costs mulitple preferred power picks just to clean up someone else's mess. No thanks. Talking to the Gull is reasonable to suggest. Fucking over one's build to solve a similarly minor annoyance isn't. I'm not even sure why you mention both in the same post.
  11. It's easier to just leave at the next polite opportunity to do so. I don't have to modify my build to deal with someone else's poor team gameplay and nobody else needs to hear me griping about their knockback in-game, where it won't be received well anyway. Everybody wins. Ironic that you mention AoE Immob though. I follow the same advice with AoE Immob enthusiasts as I do with careless KBers. They are two sides of the same coin. One separates packed groups of enemies and the other prevents them from packing in the first place. Either way, they both act effectively as team damage debuffer by screwing the effectiveness of most teammates' AoE damage powers. Yes, these powers can both be used much more effectively. But I PuG... and they rarely are that I have seen. And if I'm really the only person bothered by it, it's only fair I leave that team and create a space for someone that might enjoy it more than I do.
  12. I'm sorry, what is "bizarre" about what I wrote?
  13. I find that hard to believe. The "rarely" part, I mean. i.e. Not saying there aren't busybodies out there who will get in your face over nothing, but they are not, in my experience, in any kind of majority. Most people won't even notice what you are doing on a team and certainly won't complain about it unless it's getting in their way somehow.
  14. To be clear, for anyone reading who does not know... the character is not deleted. Name and any offending costumes on that char are randomized by a GM but you don't lose any character progress. I don't know if you get a tailor token for each generic'd costume slot or not, but that would make sense. Maybe someone who has had it happen to them can say. Basically, don't be afraid you will lose a character. Worst case, you will have to come up with a new name and costume for them. If you're worried you might be too close, make some changes or at least have a backup plan to make those changes if you have to. Otherwise, don't sweat it.
  15. Makes sense. Rather than swallowing the bitter pill that would be actually fixing the broken bullshit that is %dmg procs... Hard Modes were built on top of it. Incorporating global recharge into the PPM calculation would be a small change to do... but oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth that would ensue! There isn't enough popcorn in the world for that flamewar. Can't say I blame them for going this route, given that. But it's also made me very much not interested in bothering with 4* HMs. I wonder how many people actually do. They aren't that visible in /lfg probably because they aren't run by PuGs very often. Only the HC devs probably know how popular 4* actually is.
  16. If we're naming snipes... Proton Volley has my vote. It's only named Proton Volley because Proton Torpedo might have gotten them sued (again).
  17. Are combos allowed? Axe Cyclone + Combat Jumping = Cyclone Jump! 1. Stand in the middle of a pack of enemies. 2. Jump! 3. Immediately after hitting the jump key, mash the Axe Cyclone key. If you do this right, the enemies will be pulled along through the air behind you by Axe Cyclone's negative repel effect. For lulz, try it with a straight up vertical jump. Not useful, but funny. Enemies will be pulled upward and then spat out in random directions at the top like a water fountain. More useful for bringing together spread out bunches of enemies. Land in one pack, jump towards the other, and hit Axe Cyclone. Done right, it can bring them right together at a greater distance than Cyclone can hit just standing in one place. Teleport + Ground Zero + Superior Avalanche:Knockdown = This looks cool but I don't have a cool name for it! 1. Teleport (yes, regular travel TP, not Combat TP) into a big pack of enemies. 2. Immediately key Ground Zero. 3. Nearly everyone gets knocked down while you are floating a few inches off the ground (thanks to TP) in a superhero pose with arms stretched to either side and a wave of radiation rippling outward. This is almost as cool looking as Mighty Radial and available much more often. The secret sauce here is that Ground Zero is a weird power. On a Tanker it's a massive 22.5ft radius and can hit up to 30 targets (damaging enemies and healing allies which are all counted in the total). So if you're first in to a group of baddies, it easily hits them all... even most of a double group pull if you can get them reasonably together.
  18. Rad Armor has a lot to counter Recluse with. Toxic Damage is mother's milk to a Rad Tank. Energy resistance is also easily capped. The self heal is not fantastic against a single target but you also have the absorb shield which is basically another self heal. And lastly you have bountiful endurance and drain resistance to deal with his drain attack. One thing I'd consider for an easier run against Recluse with a Rad Tank though is, if you have proc-bombed the self-heal, temporarily re-slot that conventionally for heal/recharge/end. Like I said, it's not great with just one target to hit, but with decent recharge and heal enhancement, it's plenty because you shouldn't be losing health that fast. Speaking of, that's the nice thing about any resistance toon tanking Recluse. At the very least, if you're losing... it won't be quickly. Your teammates will have plenty of time to toss a helping hand your way in the form of a heal or buff if things aren't going well. And they won't have to do so often, or at all once they've downed the first tower probably. Meanwhile defense-based toons can still be okay if they have built decent resistance on top (and/or have more from team buffs) but it can be dicey until that +tohit tower goes down.
  19. You can do a reasonably good officer dress uniform (under jackets with sleeves) colored navy blue or white. Not sure there is something that would look like an enlisted uniform tho.
  20. Yeah, that's kind of why I all-caps'd "THIS" in my post. This is an anomaly. Maybe I should have just responded that @Glacier Peak could end his post right here...
  21. On the internet, nobody waits THIS long to be wrong.

  23. Sorry, my browser crashed right here.
  24. On the one hand, this is a perfectly fair response to the OP's title boast saying for-profit companies should follow HC team's example. On the other hand, no for-profit game publisher, especially one that made over 2 billion dollars last year, has any excuse NOT to do better than a 20-year old MMO run for no-profit by volunteers in their spare time.
