Not in my book, evar. I don't play to be bored, I play to keep the boredom at bay. Would rather the whole party was faceplanting and learning new ways to survive over just steamrolling with no risk. No Risk = Boring Nothing Gooing Wrong = Boring Nothing Unexpected = Boring Faceplanting is learning and pushing your build, playing the game, IMO...

Just taking as much AoE as I can and experimenting. :)

This was my point, really. :)

I agree. Awesome, keep the flame alive. Years ago, had a friend start playing, ended up staying a while. However, the first time they faceplanted, we heard them holding back tears. In previous games for them, dying meant such harsh things. The group laughed, they thought we were laughing _at_ them, had to explain. That player lead the charge after that, regardless of AT, never fearing faling down again.

Server Selection. You can move at anytime for free. Lots of people makes characetsr on all servers. I have played on all kind of MMO servers over the years that were supposed to have a flavor I never saw/experienced. IMO, 'does it matter?' is No. You can change at anytime, you can play on all of them. So, IME, it does not matter.

Reminds me that in early seasons of the TV show '24' where they used Linux screens so no one would yell about copyright/trademarks, then Apple got them to use their stuff later. The really fun part is that much of the war-level technology runs on things like XP...in 2019. The villains in today's world are the ones hacking the 'powers that be' because the heroes are still using XP... Somewhere there is some social commentary in there around our MMO 'villains' using XP and modern 'heroes' using XP, but that hurts to think about with so little coffee...

I hang with MunkiLord on this one. The percentages might be different, but that can be said about any MMO/game community. How many people right on this forum can post about having been teleported to a high place launch by a troll?

Because I have all the stuff needed to make the IO, I want it and I am in my base crafting stuff? I realize your question now revolves around 'the most efficient applicaiotn of resources' and again, i am here to play a (super)hero, not try and ROI everything, after another hour of playtime, I will have more stuff, what purpose does the stuff I aquire have other than to be used? The object of the game, IMO, is not to accumulate wealth or use it 'efficiently' it's simply to andvance over time and get a better set of stuff, I have plenty in RL to worry about ROI, I don't do that in games. -

Why? Not trying to be snarky, really! Why 'must' something popular also be profitable? -
Same basic mechanics allow for 'twins' as well, I like it!

You do what I do - I leave/do not join teams that have players I do not find fun. I don't think discussions on MMO forums ever do much other than what you describe. :) The whole point of my ranting and raving is simply that I find ragging on the creative expressions of others to be Evil. It could be a kid, some one with special needs that gains comfort from playing thier favorite Super, all sorts of things. To call into question the validity of other peoples creative expression is just deeply hurtful IMO. And to come out and say 'I should not even have to see them' is outright bigotry, IMO. Do you guys critisize kids for making Spiderman artwork? I really do wander what some of these same people do at ComicCon. Do they harass cosplayers? Do they go to the Help Desk and lodge complaints? From my PoV, it's pretty close to what is happening here. These people are being called 'bad' for not expressing thier creativity the 'right' way, when no rules have been created, just busy bodies that think they have to place restictions on other to conform to thier worldview. It's hard sometimes to tolarate the intollerant.

The Elephant In the Room : Enhancement Converters

See, when I see people wanting a healthier market, I always tend to think this is what they want...a market contolled by the big influnce marketeers, forcing us to go uphill both ways to get the goods. I shudder at these kinds of things, because like another poster states, I play the game to be a (super)hero, not to be a money manager and the current state makes it enjoyable - I have to take the time to get/make the IOs, but I don't have to take time out of playing just to earn the stuff to do it, it happens while I play normally. Having to play two games - the market and the Go Hunt Kil Skuls - is not my thing. My best-man, back in the day, hit the 2B mark in a couple weeks after starting, because he loves numbers, so i get that the market is another game. -
"I have played a lot of X AT and I think..." vs. "I played the game on Live for X years and I am right." Lots of ways to couch that veteran data. :)

Nothing to fix, IMO, seems great, no need to be at the mercy of the market to acquire what I need. Makes me want to trick-out more charactres, not become bored. A friend and I play nearly as hardcore as we used to and I am happy to have to spend so much time building great heroes. -
The first drafts of all RPG ideas are...rough. :) Yours look a little more complicated but I am in the same ballpark. I am thinking simple. As in, pick two power sets, pick the roles one each from Ranged/Melee/Hybrid and DPS/Support/Control(Tank). Each pick would just be something basic to clamp things. _Just a couple fast ideas_ Ranged +Range/-Dam Melee -Range/+Dam DPS +Dam/-Secondary Effects Support -Dam/+Secondary Effects Nothing huge, but large enough to make a difference.

Nah, I fight Hate head-on, we are who we are.:)

But you don't have an argument, you have an opinion. Your opinion is that people that do build homages and what you call 'ripoffs' are somehow less creative and should be ridiculed. It's an Opinion. You even think that 'forcing' you creative viewpoint will 'improve players'. An Opinion. You even insuate that it's somehow 'wrong' to use the crayons in the character creator to create things you don't want to see. An Opinion. Your only 'argument' seems to be some people might not be as creative as others and they should be ridiculed and shunned for it or for even being allowed to use the crayons. What did I miss?
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *whew*, thanks. Anyway, to your 'point', so you think that only certain expressions of creativity are 'valid' and must conform to your worldview. Have I got that right? So do you go to ComicCon and rag on the cosplayers? Hm? The thoughts you express are some of the most close-minded and hateful things I have read on game forums. Sadly you are not alone in your worldview, as many here on these very forums have the hateful and elitist attitude that creativity and expression must fall within some invisible set of boundaries to be considered valid. This high-horse outlook is not distasteful, it is disgusting, IMO. I know! You can make a SG and call yourselves the Creative Dicktators so we know who you are! It will be awesome!
-
What is with this hate for people that enjoy homage? I just don't get this incessent need to put down the way other people choose to express themselves. It's hateful and rude from my PoV. What gives?

The pet sets are one I would love to try and pair with other things, the MM combos are not to my liking. Pets and Melee DPS, Pets and Range DPS, for example, could be more fun for me. In most cases the original idea IIRC was that players would take two DPS or two Support and possibly tip the scales. The fear of the tank-mage, DPS/Defence, was strong, but the game shows us it can be done without breaking things any more than any other combo. I just like the creative aspect of the idea, especially with adding some 'role' or 'background' +/- like the ATs do. Perhaps giving the Origin more influence in the form of +/- as well. Just seems like we have a lot of options and not enough time to implement... Stupid space-time.
