Focused Feedback: New Player Experience (NPE) Improvements
Wispur replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I was thinking something similar. I'd like to see the playstyle choices at character creation reflect the assigned roles in the diversity bonus. Mainly so that there are no surprises for new players, and everything stays consistent. -
I clearly remember there being multiple instances of Atlas park on busy nights shortly after launch on Live. 2 instances were pretty common, and I feel like I remember a few times it even went as high as 4. (but they may have had smaller thresholds early on, or I'm misremembering) So Homecoming, as it is now, seems pretty inline with what I remember from my time playing early CoH in terms of population. I definitely remember Rubberbanding was a HUGE problem, comparable with Asheron's Call's rubberbanding. So all of these problems feel like nostalgia to me, lol.

Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Wispur replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
...that's kinda the point of this whole 14 page discussion. 😅 There's a fear that people will start being excluded from teams because of their AT's not being the correct role. (Besides, I wasn't complaining or anything, I was just explaining to Paradox why the devs did what they did regarding Kheldians) -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Wispur replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Well, to be fair, the underplayed thing was just my added commentary, not the reason they did it - Kheldians were made more attractive for this bonus because- A. We need to be on a team for our Inherent to work. (This was the reason the Dev gave earlier in the thread) B. We were specifically designed to fill multiple team roles as needed using one build, ie, their intended design is versatility As far as the VEATs... I dunno... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But if you wanna talk improvements to Kheldians! I'm right there with ya! 😄 But that's a topic for the next patch I think, lol. -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Wispur replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
If this diversity bonus is going to make it to live, I still like this solution the most. 5 different AT's in the group? You get the Bonus. And then the remaining 3 slots can be duplicates. Like you said, this will likely do a much better job teaching new players about the diversity of AT's and their versatility. (Plus, this *still* benefits me as a Kheldian since it's one of the least played AT's, Bwahahahahaha!) -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Wispur replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
The issue isn't the name, it never was. The two issues that people are concerned with are - 1. These "Groups" don't line up with the Playstyles shown at Character Creation. For example, If we tell New Players that Brutes are Melee Damage, but then don't count them as being Melee Damage when it comes to teaming up in the game, that's misleading, and a bad new player experience. And that goes for all the AT's that are listed under multiple playstyles at Character Creation. At the very least, the Playstyles at character creation and Roles in this bonus need to line up. 2. There are concerns that this will teach new players that you *have* to have specific roles at all levels of gameplay. This is a significant enough award for new players/characters, that it *will* be used by them, even if it's not how the game works. ...and if you make the award so insignificant that it doesn't matter and nobody cares, you've created a system that doesn't need to exist. It's basically a lose/lose. (Personally, I'm more concerned with the first issue, and less so the second) (Plus as I've said before, I mostly play Kheldians, so the planned implementation benefits me greatly) -
Yay! I finally got to donate and didn't miss the window! 😄

A possible solution to the kheldian revamp
Wispur replied to FlammeFatale's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
Laucianna, I agree with everything you said, and I think that fixing this part in particular would be a HUGE Quality of Life improvement for Kheldians. Seriously, drop the Super Loud Explosion and dramatically decrease the Massive Flash of light that prevents me from seeing the screen. Please. Do that and we'll be on the way to making this a better AT, lol. -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
Wispur replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
As someone who plays Kheldians almost exclusively, I kinda don't have a horse in this race. I benefit just fine from it's currently proposed implementation, lol. But even so, here are my thoughts on this - ---------------------------------------------------- In it's current form, this bonus runs contradictory to the playstyles defined at character creation. Which then leads to it running contradictory to the stated goal of helping new players understand the game better. For example, in the character creation window - When I click "Melee Damage" as my playstyle, Brutes are listed. When I click "Support" as my playstyle, Corruptors are listed. It's not unreasonable for a new player to assume that they will be treated as the role/playstyle they chose. So, at the very least, the Playstyles in Character Creation should match the Roles for this bonus to minimize new player confusion. Preferably adding *more* Roles to the appropriate AT's ingame to properly reflect the Playstyles available to them. (Brutes counting as both Tanks and Melee, Corruptors counting as both Ranged and Support, etc) ---------------------------------------------------- **And on that note, it seems us Kheldians need to be listed under a few more Playstyles in the Character Creation screen. 😄 ** ** I definitely spend at least much time (if not more) in Melee as I do Blasting on my Peacebringers ** -
A possible solution to the kheldian revamp
Wispur replied to FlammeFatale's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
You're correct that nobody obliges a player to play optimally. But what I'm saying is that optimal play for an AT should (in good game design) play to the unique strengths of that AT. In this case, that uniqueness is very much the alternate forms. So optimal gameplay *should* utilize the forms. Ignoring the forms by glitching (or doubleclicking) so that you're never *really* in them to play optimally means the forms may as well not exist at all, and that's a bad thing. At that point, it's not really any different than if the optimal way to play were Human-only. That's really bad for a shape shifting AT. There are plenty of other AT's in the game that can be played optimally without using alternate forms (as in all of them, lol) I don't see how making this another AT that doesn't use forms (when played optimally) does anything but hurt the AT and remove what makes it unique. In my opinion, when played optimally, we should be flowing through the forms as needed for the moment, shifting as the situation dictates. Optimal play should not be staying in one form and double clicking to steal the powers of the other forms without ever utilizing those forms. At that point, we're basically just monoform sentinels. 😅 And don't get me wrong, I appreciate that you're looking for solutions! I just think this one would hurt what makes the AT special and unique. -
A possible solution to the kheldian revamp
Wispur replied to FlammeFatale's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
I *really* want to see Changeling nuked from orbit. The whole point of Changeling is to glitch the forms so fast that you effectively don't even use the forms. And that destroys the entire point of Kheldians being the shapeshifter AT. Kheldians *should* be using their forms, as forms. And to be clear, I'm perfectly fine with switching between forms constantly, every few powers or so. (this is my preference) I'm also perfectly fine with having us stay in forms for a bit longer for specific tasks. Whatever they choose, I can roll with it. I'm just *really* not ok with the "best" way to play the AT being to basically ignore the forms and glitch through them. Even if they made that "glitch" a doubleclick feature, I'd be opposed to it. It destroys the whole point of being a shapeshifter in the first place. So... nuke Changeling, and don't look back. (And yes, it prob goes without saying, but if they're gonna get rid of Changeling (and they should) we'll need buffs to compensate.) -
It might be a good idea to move Sybil Tight and Sybil with Skin from the main list and into "Unique Tops." So that... A. The main list doesn't get needlessly long B. It gives Toga a friend so it's not alone (they share a similar theme too!) -

For me, there are two things that kill Redside for me. 1 - No convenient, Open Starting Area Hub like Atlas to just hang out in and see and chat with new players. The current Red-side starting area is very cramped, dingy, and just not nice to hang out in. Even what's happening in Mercy's starting area makes no sense. Why are these people being rounded up, who are they? What's going on? 2 - The Storyline fails to deliver on what was promised. On Blueside, I'm an appreciated Hero right from the start, saving people, stopping crimes, and having citizens thank me for my efforts. On Redside, I'm a minion running errands and most of the time I'm fighting other bad guys instead of good guys. The "Villain" fantasy just isn't there.

Bugs pulled from Focused Feedback Threads
Wispur replied to The Wildheart's topic in [Open Beta] Bug Reports
It'd be nice if the front of the Sybil dress didn't stick out horizontally when running. >.> If it'd be possible to tone down the physics on the whole thing that'd be great, but I'm not sure how much control you guys have on that. -
Rewards for players with low toon count
Wispur replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You're the one Demanding that people play your way. Don't you see that? Having to play with lots of Alts is a Self-imposed restriction you are forcing on others, it is not a game restriction. All that's being asked for is equal treatment of equally valid ways to play the game. More Aethers ARE going to be flooding into the AH with the new systems coming. Systems that benefit people who play lots of Alts. Having similar rewards for people who want to focus on fewer characters IS a valid request, even if that's not the way you personally play. And no, it's not "Asking for Free Stuff" anymore than expecting rewards for playing the game any other way. Seriously, that's like saying "Expecting Rewards for Defeating Hamidon is just asking for Free Stuff" - that's literally how MMO's work. >.< You achieve something (ie get Veteran levels) you get a Reward. And again, as I said before, if you wanted to discuss alternate rewards for Veteran 100+ people, like Empyrean Merits, that's fine. Let's have that discussion. It's the suggestions forum, so let's look for a solution that will work. 😀 -
Rewards for players with low toon count
Wispur replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Though honestly, I think Aethers are a perfectly fine lvl 100+ Veteran reward to help balance out the new rewards people will be getting for having multiple alts. -
Rewards for players with low toon count
Wispur replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, there should be room to discuss what the post 100 rewards should be, if not Aethers. And there Should be rewards for people that decide to put in the effort to achieve those Veteran levels, similar to the rewards that people with multiple alts can receive. Just responding with "No, you can't have anything at all" is silly, imho. -
Rewards for players with low toon count
Wispur replied to Laucianna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
All you're doing is gatekeeping the Aethers to YOUR preferred style of play, and that is NOT cool at all. Different people want to play the game in different ways, and having one character you focus on is just as valid as having a legion of alts. Both should have similar access to Aethers. And it's not like the pace that Veteran levels get them at couldn't be discussed. Every other level? Every 5 levels? or maybe every single level is fine? We can find a good spot. Either way, you should NOT be gatekeeping rewards like this and trying to penalize people who play differently than you. -
Depressed at Peacebringer Light Form crash
Wispur replied to victusfate's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
Once you get your Recharge high enough, you can start overlapping your Light Forms. So even during the crash, you're still at 85% resistances, making it a pretty painless transition to hit a heal at your leisure. Focusing on Recharge on a Peacebringer makes the whole AT feel silky smooth to play. (It's just very very expensive >.< ) -
Congratulations!!! 🌟 I honestly really thrilled I could be here to see this moment happen!
