Yeah no, that's not how suggestions and feeback works.

Anyway, go and see Superman. I think you'll enjoy it. Maybe you can even talk about it here since you'll have seen it. 😉
-
I know what it means, thanks. 😉 I'm glad you know what a dictionary is!
-
Right, and you were attempting to use this comic winning some award to refute someone else saying they didn't care for the depiction of Supergirl this story was based on. You're implying that since the source material was an award winner, the movie will be good. You haven't even seen it yet.
-
From what I've seen and heard, that's exactly the case.
-
What attempt? The Supergirl film hasn't even been released yet. There isn't even a teaser trailer for it yet. How can you know if it's good or not if you haven't even seen it yet? The source material may be award winning, that doesn't mean the script for the film adaption is. 😉

How do you know? You haven't even seen it yet. 😉

Right, I get that. It's just funny to me that instead of commenting on the film which you're always lamenting people to do, you take the opportunity to bring up the nasty evil YouTuber schills that you hate so much. If you don't want to talk about them, stop talking about them. That very well could be. Even so, it seems like an arbitrary thing to throw in. Yeah this is odd too.
-
I completely agree. Much better depiction of the Superman character than the Snyderverse version. Not that I disliked Henry Cavill. I thought he was a great Superman. I'd just have liked to have seen him with a much better script.
-
Yeah it's change for the sake of change too, but I think there's a rather large difference between kindly Jonathan Kent who brought his son up teaching him morals and to use his gifts to help and Jor-El saying "conquer Earth and get yourself a harem". I believe you can see the difference too. That's not what was said in the film itself and essentially every article and review I've read/watched have said nope, the message is legit.
-
Well sure, but I never got into all of those myself. I'd like to see the Superman from the stories I read when I was a kid, not evil Injustice Superman or some other version of him. This just seemed like such an arbitrary thing to change.
-
Did you see the movie? If so, what did you think of it? What did you like most? Instead of using this as an opportunity to bring up all of those "doomsayers" you can't stand, why not use it to discuss the movie like you're always saying you wish people would do?

His DNA really had nothing to do with any of it. Clark chooses to be a hero whether it was in his DNA or not. Having Jor-El tell his son to conquer and be fruitful and multiply instead of being a beacon of hope doesn't lend anything to the character of Superman or his decision to become a hero and do good. The Kents had way, way more to do with Clark becoming a hero than his Kryptonian parents ever did. It's a superfluous, arbitrary change and appears to be shoehorned in as nothing more than change for the sake of change.

Lots of dumb/weird things have been done before. I wouldn't say this particular thing is a "big deal", more just like a "huh? what for?" kind of thing. It runs against what I consider the Superman story. I've never read Jor-El to be a bad guy or that Superman wasn't meant to be anything other than a beacon of hope. I think the Jor-El from the original Reeve Superman was done far, far better in that regard. Lex said he didn't alter the recording in the film, and from what I been watching and reading in terms of reviews and synopses of the movie, it certainly seems this is indeed an intentional change on the part of James Gunn.

Saw it earlier today and I enjoyed it. The main cast is great - David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult are all great casting. I liked the story and its a much lighter, much better depiction than the darker and more brooding Snyderverse movies. The story is a bit janky in a couple of places ... seemed to me that they came up with action pieces and then tried filling in the story from there in a couple of spots, but overall I had a good time. I'm glad they didn't stretch themselves too thin with having the Justice Gang and Metamorpho in this. Only minor gripe I have is with the retconning of the reasoning Jor El sent Kal El to Earth. I just don't get it and don't think it was necessary at all. That's the only bad part in my opinion. Overall a good movie and recommend going to see it. Looking forward to Milly Alcock in her Supergirl film!

Ok no problem. Glad you found something interesting to discuss. 😁
-
Ok but I admitted that I wasn't going to watch the show. You have and have complained here on these very threads that nobody actually discusses these movies and shows. Here's your opportunity to do so.
-
Thanks for the link to your extensive analysis and detailed discussion of the show. 🤣 Did it meet your expectations? What did you think of the character of Riri Williams? Where do you see her going in the MCU now that she's got her own show under her belt? What did you like about Ironheart? What part of the story surprised you the most? Do you think it will get a second season? What did you think of the big reveal at the end?
-
Thank you Googly for helping to steer the thread back to the topic at hand. I hope you enjoy Ironheart and do share your thoughts on it!
-
Are you going to discuss Ironheart at all? I'm assuming you've watched it. What did you think about it? Did it meet your expectations? What did you think of the character of Riri Williams? Where do you see her going in the MCU now that she's got her own show under her belt?

From what I've read, the only thing I see in your replies is "that sounds like it would be boring". Ok no problem, but I think that's a weak argument too. That works too. Same message, slightly different wording. Everyone can resolve these debates by agreeing to disagree and moving on. Does anyone want to actually talk about Ironheart? I asked this a couple of posts ago but nobody has replied yet.
-
Exactly. There's a positive post that you've mysteriously got nothing to say about at all. I can only speak for myself, but from what I saw in the trailer, I knew this wouldn't interest me, which isn't breaking any forum rules and I'm allowed to do. The restaurant menu analogy works - I don't need to eat the meal to know I don't like the ingredients. I saw enough in the trailer to know I wouldn't like the show. I haven't watched it, haven't said a word about it here and I'm happy to let others discuss it. Seems like you don't want to talk about it though.
-
Ok but where does it end? Maybe try a different tactic? Ask people what they did like to redirect the conversation toward more positive things. If you don't want to do that, either agree to disagree and move along, put people on ignore (which is functionality you do have), or avoid the thread. It seems like you're getting really angry over silly things you've got no control over. What did you like about Ironheart? What part of the story surprised you the most? Do you think it will get a second season? What did you think of the big reveal at the end?
-
Sure. Here you go. That's me saying I'm chuffed that Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl, loved her previous work and looking forward to seeing her in the role. Isn't that positive enough for you? Ok but that's you. Some people like to discuss things that they didn't like, thought could've been done better and express their ideas on what would've worked better. Not everyone is the same as you.

Forgot to mention - I think Googly was right to create a separate thread for discussing "critics" like Critical Drinker and such. Maybe it's just me, but threads like this should be for us CoH players to discuss Ironheart or whatever other topic, not post what CD thinks of them. Just my 2 inf.
