A couple of things here. First, a very minor nitpick. Veridian IV had a stated population of 230 million. The population was not in the billions. Second, the focus of the story at that point and the dramatic impact of the scene was Kirk's death. Cutting away to a scene introducing random, nameless people who the audience were never introduced to and did not know would have totally detracted from that. Lastly, the real mistake with the writing of this film was killing off Kirk to begin with. It was not necessary and I personally feel it was a mistake to include the original cast to "pass the torch". The original cast had their ride off into the sunset at the end of Star Trek VI and that was enough. The TNG cast was well established at this point and could easily carry a film on their own without needing to include the original cast members. The story in general had many other issues. The whole concept of the Nexus was confusing at times, especially given that Guinan tells Picard he can return to normal space at any point in time, Picard chooses to go back literal minutes before Soran launches his missile. Why not go back to the moment he first met Soran and detained him? Killing off Picard's brother and nephew off screen was a mistake as well in my opinion. I would like to add that I do enjoy this film for the most part. Shatner is the best part of it in my opinion. He is exceptional in the scenes at his house as he slowly comes to the realization of what is going on and where he is. Despite its many flaws, Generations is still far and away better than the J.J. Abrams and Kurtzman garbage.

Admittedly not a huge priority. Would it be possible to increase the number of SG coalitions for super groups? I do not know if this is some hard limit baked into the code for, but it certainly would be nice to have the limit of 10 coalitions increased to 50 or more. Thank you.
-
Not against the idea, but if I am to be honest, this would be at the very bottom of the priority list for bases, were it even be on that list at all. There are far, far more important things that are needed for bases and for improving the base editor in my opinion.

New Dawn's Paragon AT is pretty sweet!
ShardWarrior replied to Captain Fabulous's topic in General Discussion
I already knew this, but thank you. The custom character creator in AE does not work quite the same as the character creator for the Paragon AT. You can only pick one primary set and one secondary set and cannot mix and match from different primaries and different secondaries. As you mentioned, editing the data files disables XP on those characters, and it also is not very user friendly to do in my opinion. -

I personally would love to see this implemented as part of the character creation in AE. You could make some exceptionally challenging AVs with this kind of system. I think it would be fun to create really epic Archvillains to fight. -
Star Trek: Section 31
ShardWarrior replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
This should not come as a surprise or shock to anyone. https://www.superherohype.com/news/591540-star-trek-section-31-reviews-rotten-tomatoes-metacritic-score Honestly, Star Trek needs to go back into hibernation until they can find real creatives who actually care about the franchise. I am hoping Skydance makes some serious course corrections with the property. -
There is a vent on the wall that the Thief has to click on to crawl through in the Summer Blockbuster. Can this be made into a glowie or somehow make it more obvious that this is the vent to click on? There is a truly surprising number of people who simply do not understand that they have to click on this vent, despite being given instructions and having it shown in the cut scene. Many people simply walk right by it and mistake the vents with the other fan vents and such on the walls as the ones they are supposed to interact with. Hopefully this is not something difficult to do. Thank you.

Star Trek: Section 31
ShardWarrior replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
As I remember it, the Na'khul were not vampires and the reason they sided with the Nazis was to alter Earth history and prevent the Federation from ever existing. I did not care for the whole temporal war arc either. I would have preferred the writers and producers came up with something different for the post-Xindi war arc. -
Star Trek: Section 31
ShardWarrior replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
As much as it pains me to say as an enormous Michelle Yeoh fan, this is probably the first work of hers that I will not see. This looks absolutely awful. Real Star Trek died with Enterprise back in 2005 in my opinion. Star Trek was not always good, not always bad during the Berman era, but you could tell that the creatives back then cared about the property. Everything since then has been a hot mess of VFX spam and garbage writing. The moment I read that Alex Kurtzman and Michael Chabon were specifically hiring "writers" who never watched a single episode of Star Trek, I knew the franchise was dead. The one and only redeeming quality of this new garbage is that it makes anything Brannon Braga was involved with look less bad. -
I very much disagree. I have several Energy blasters myself. Energy Blast, like any other Blaster primary, has both strengths and weaknesses. How well it performs is most dependent upon the player, followed by their build choices and then what enemy NPCs being fought as that defines how resistant they are to energy damage. Energy Blast is going to do very well, decent or not so well against NPCs depending on what you are fighting. To say it is not "strong" is not accurate. This seems to proceed from a very false assumption that Force Feedback is the only set that has valuable procs that can be slotted in Energy Blast.

Locking out certain door locations on the Synapse TF
ShardWarrior replied to ShardWarrior's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
With Synapse being the WST, this has happened several more times this week unfortunately. Would be delightful if this could be looked at and some solution put in place to prevent Babbage from getting droned. Thank you. -
I am saddened every time I see someone debating whether or not to roll a /Regen. Please do yourself a favor, spare yourself a lot of pain and grief and go with /SR instead.
-
I am not sure I see the relevance? Thor, Hulk, Doctor Strange and several other playable characters in the game have solo defeated cosmic level villains, in some instances several of them at once. Their in game characters are far more balanced in terms of actual game play. You can play co-op PvE.

Beast Run, Ninja Run and Athletic Run are purchased from the S.T.A.R.T. Vendor listed under Prestige Powers > Travel > Movement. That is what I was referring to, not the separate Prestige Sprints themselves. Yes, there are whispy speed trails following your character when Athletic Run is active. Regardless of what things are called, the No VFX option in the costume editor should literally be No VFX. Not some VFX removed.
-
I know what Ninja Run and Athletic run are, thank you. I was not referring to Prestige Sprints or slotting prestige sprints. I specifically mentioned Athletic Run, which does in fact have VFX associated with it in the form of whispy speed trails that you cannot turn off.
-
When the costume editor has an option for "No VFX", it should mean there are no VFX. Across many different sets, there are No VFX options that still have some degree of VFX options associated with the power. As an example, I love my /Ninjitsu characters, however on some of them it would be spiffy if No VFX on Shinobi-Iri option meant it does not show you transparent/stealthed. If possible, please have these No VFX options mean no VFX at all. Also, it would be splendid if the prestige sprints like Ninja Run and Athletic run could get No VFX options as well. Thank you.

New Warriors faction seems more like a level 40 faction now.
ShardWarrior replied to Omega9's topic in General Discussion
First, allow me to express my condolences to you on selecting Regen as your secondary. As someone who adored playing my MA/Regen scrapper back in the pre-ED days of live and then after the great ED, Regen, GDN and various other "improvements", my advice to you would be to re-roll into SR or Ninjitsu or Shield Defense. Regen is not a set that shines against surviving huge spike damage. -
This happens throughout the game at all levels. I just finished running through the Croatoa arcs and not a single hostage makes a sound even when you are in the midst of rescuing them. I also recently ran through the A Hero's Hero story arc and none of the hostages in that awful, awful, awful city map mission where you have to rescue hostages from the Shadows say anything. It is increasingly infuriating to run story content like this and a plays a rather large role in why I dislike running story content. It would be fantastic if NPC hostages could cry out if you are near by.

I have been playing this with my son and it is indeed fun. Although I will say some of the characters like Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl are ludicrously overpowered! Fun game though!

Superman: Legacy First Look
ShardWarrior replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I think the Donner films should be left as the classics they are, and Hollywood should stop trying to recreate/re-imagine them. They have never been successful at it and they never will be in my humble opinion. -
Superman: Legacy First Look
ShardWarrior replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I purposefully avoided most of the leaked set photos and such because I wanted to be surprised by this. Having now seen it, I am sad to say I am thoroughly disappointed. The costuming looks awfully cheesy and something you would expect to see at a local comic con or Halloween shop. I am very leery that James Gunn is going to go the humorous/silly GoTG route with this film. I will keep an open mind too, but I am unimpressed and disappointed in what I am seeing so far. I think you are right and given the last several superhero flops from both DC and Marvel, I am not sure why they are trying again to create a whole extended universe. Warner Brothers and DC have been trying to catch Marvel for a decade or so now with very limited, if any success at it. I do not think this is going to work for them. As a huge Hans Zimmer fan myself, I completely agree with this. Zimmer's work for Man of Steel - as with his other work - is beautiful and inspiring. Zimmer is a true genius. I am delighted to be going to see him live in February. I cannot wait for it! Nothing at all against John Williams at all for his work on the 1978 Superman score. It truly is a timeless classic. -
HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
ShardWarrior replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I made a similar request a couple of years ago to immortalize @Heracleain Cimerora. I can empathize with you and I am saddened to hear of your loss. My sympathies to you and to the family of the people involved. Having made a similar request and having had time over the years to think about it, I agree with those who have said HC spending time building some kind of memorial and developing a written policy for who gets included is not a good idea. All this will do is lead to arguments, hurt feelings and disenchantment. There will be endless debates over who is or is not worthy of inclusion and why or why not, what said memorial should be or look like, where it should be located and so on. You can already see from the suggestions being made here that people are going to have vastly different ideas of where and how to remember their friend or loved one(s). We should also consider that some people may not have wanted their character immortalized in game. No matter how simple or easy it may seem, adding a memorial with names is work from a volunteer staff. As an example, Cryptic added a memorial in STO for actors, producers, writers and others involved with Star Trek over the years who have passed away. There are memorial plaques in each of the major social hubs players can click on to read the names of those who have passed on. It is very nice, but it also requires work and maintenance, and unfortunately, there have been some rather heated debates over who should or should not be included and in what order. As far as the existing NPCs, I agree with those who have said it should be left entirely to the discretion of the HC staff who they want to add to the game and where. As has already been said, it is their server, not ours. Unfortunately, this is what it is and this will happen if such a memorial and official policy are put in place. I think if you were to look at the suggestion objectively, you would understand this is what inevitably will happen. I do not believe it is being disrespectful or insincere to point that out. As others have already pointed out, there is a forum specific for remembering those who have passed on. In addition to that, players can choose an appropriate location and date/time to gather in game and hold a vigil for their fallen friends or loved ones. If there were to be any development time spent on this, I like this idea best as I agree that bases are a much better option for this kind of thing. Players can design whatever kind of monument or memorial they would like and it does not require any HC development effort. These bases can be made public or kept private depending on player wishes. Ultimately, I believe everyone is worth remembering. We have all had an impact on others in our own way, and we are all worthy. -
Actually, no, they often do not. I run the Crimson arc a few times a week, and not one of the NPC hostages in any of those missions say a peep until after you have rescued them. Finding Kristovich in the second mission specifically can be an enormous pain in the rear if you get unlucky. That arc is just one example I can think of off the top of my head. There are quite a lot of missions where having NPCs call for help would be a blessing.

Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers in the US). This one has it all. Compelling drama, interesting, well fleshed out characters, aliens, epic space battles, and a ship among the pantheon of greatest sci-fi spaceships of all time. I literally ran home from the bus stop when I was a kid to watch this. At the time, it was one of the most popular English-translated anime series here in the US. It got a live action treatment back in 2010. It wasn't bad, but didn't quite do the story justice in my opinion. Still very cool to watch though, especially for the absolutely stunning Meisa Kuroki who is just so gorgeous. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoPZW1Y0A24 And let's face it, the Wave Motion Gun is just epic! Still quite popular among Japanese anime enthusiasts! I always thought Space Battleship Yamato would make a great base for an epic MMORPG!
