This modified build has given up the recharge in order to soft cap s/l/melee defenses with only losing a few ticks maybe 5-10 seconds from perma on soul drain and hasten. Any thoughts on which build on the builds or which one looks more.....well just more. I've currently been running a high recharge dm/regen build that has soul drain, hasten and dull pain in the perma range. Macros and binds will be your best friend when it comes to a MM......there's a few posts where macros and binds are discussed with the Sandolphan's guide being particularly useful. With them getting slaughtered, lay down tar patch and darkest night to debuff the enemies and that will help keep your pets alive and as well as a well timed howling twilight(rez) to stun the mobs prior to them engaging. Demons are a mix of range and melee with them starting with ranged attacks before charging in to the fray.....keeping them in a defensive stance may help a bit but in the end demons are gonna do what demons gonna do -
I have a savage/regen toon sitting at 50 that I've been playing around in Mids with, currently he's a high recharge build to get IH, DP and recon up as much as possible but I recently came up with a build that has less recharge but is soft capped to s/l. My question is.....would I need as much recharge with me being at the cap or would the extra defense making it a not needed. Here's what I've done on my demon/dark.........with endurance issues only coming into play only after I do my initial setup but it's also easily fixed with Ageless. I built for ranged soft cap with s/l defense at 32 and resist cap for s/l. Decent recharge without hasten and while my attacks don't look optimal they do surprisingly well. I usually run +2/x8 with little to no issues and rarely lose pets or me for that matter. She's been very fun and has taken over as my favorite to play and has soloed a few GM's out there with AV's next to be tested. I've been slowly leveling up my mind/dark dom and have him modelled after the council vampyres. I like to put the mob to sleep the focus on the boss with my ST hold and attacks, when boss drops I hit my lil poo ric nuke and then sleep them again following the same tactic......very fun

@Force Redux....I keep forgetting about the alt build idea. Thanks for reminding me. Went hybrid support for the added pet damage, may switch that though as my playstyle has evolved into a scrappermind over the course of discovery on my demon mm. Thanks again for the ideas

@Force Redux I'm usually in the fray so to speak.....I play my MM's kinda like I play my scrappers. With dark I feel a little more confident in my ability to tankermind...or in my case scrappermind may be a better wording as most of my toons are dark based. Most of my ranged defenses came from a heavy use of the accurate debuff set cloud senses as I've found it works beautifully in my dark MM and in Dark Servant, I even slotted my heal with it to spam even more debuff. Best way to describe what I do is...…..pick the biggest bully in the yard and send the boys to go get him as I deal with his buddies, when they get done with that send them to the next or just let them cause mayhem. I'm switching between attacks, stuns/debuffs and heals. While I love my current build I'm just trying to see if a respec would benefit or leave as is......one piece of advice I was given was build the range/AoE up and not worry about the rest. The main consideration was slotting up my attacks a bit more, currently my main attack is fearsome stare with it proc'd along with lash and nightfall both with an a/d/r from a purp set and a proc. A far as the KIA aspect...…..maybe once in a while and usually if I've walked away from my game while in a fight against arachnos, carnies or malta…….but she's one tough demon girl. I'm at a point where I'm considering doing a respec on my demon/dark MM but I'm kinda hesitant because I enjoy her build but I'm thinking I can get more out of her. My dilemma is I'm currently at the defense soft cap for range and the resist cap for s/l with soul mastery if I swap over to ice I can swap the resist for the s/l defense cap while still keeping ranged cap. I can possibly still manage to get resist cap as well but that would mean putting the glad and steadfast proc into my demons and rely on their shield casts to get it.....currently I'm capped without them. Anyone have any advice......to respec or not to respec, that is the question? Thanks everyone for any help that gets thrown my way

@TygerDarkstorm anytime, I've come to grow very fond of the masterminds and demons are my particular favorite as I've leveled demons paired with storm, dark, cold and thermal all to 50 with kin, time and nature sitting around 20. I learned about slotting and such here on the forums with splitting the sets to get some massive recharges and the rest from experimenting on what works for my playstyle and while there are many other far more knowledgable than I here who can make some really nasty uberlike builds. Build for fun, build something that you will enjoy to play and always remember that there's more than 1 way to build any character and what may work for one may not work for another -
Demons/Cold MM - Help Me Learn to Build

So when I built my demon/cold MM I set about getting ranged defense to the soft cap as well as s/l, I also wanted some attacks in the build as to make me feel somewhat useful......or more precisely powerful. I made the sacrifice of skipping hasten( I tend do do this alot on my MM's) and went away from my normal pet slotting, while demonlings and the prince are slotted kinda like I normally do the demons are not....again this was for set bonuses. Another sacrifice I made was single slotting of ice and glacial shield, I used them for the LotG proc. On my pets I tend to slot them with various combinations of the MM ATO to get multiple layers of the recharge bonus as well as any procs that I can fit......trying to get the soulbound proc and the impeded swiftness proc in the prince and if possible the overwhelming force proc into the demonlings. While my enhancements all say level 50 with a few level 30's I always slot with the attuned sets so they can level up with me and if I exemp down they stay. Onto some of your questions and in no specific order.........Patron/Epic pools, if you build for theme go that way if not then go for whatever gives you what you want. Chill mastery is an excellent choice and will greatly help you achieve more defense and a nice ST blast Fighting Pool, this is again a choice and while I take it on most of my builds it's not always needed but to hit the numbers I was looking for I had to have it for the bonuses. Skippable powers, snow storm is the easily most skippable in the set and frostwork is skippable as well. The endurance cost of snowstorm I think out weighs it's usefulness adn besides with benumb and heat loss on the fairly regular you'll be fine. Endurance Concerns, 3 slot stamina with the performance shifter proc and 2 level 50 IO's that you boost up(+5 each) along with heatloss will make your endurance more manageable. @CaptainFantastic I will say even though I'm not a fan of dark melee on stalkers @Riverduskdoes provide an excellent idea with buildup and with the shield buff it should do exactly what you're looking for and make me relook at my stalker. Main thing is to enjoy the character, if you like it and are having fun with it then that's all that matters.

I leveled up a dark/dark stalker and I was pretty underwhelmed with it and I love the dark sets. My main issue was the loss of soul drain......this really hurts dark melee as it's on of it's best powers. Perhaps the buff shield gives may help with the loss of SD but not sure

I like using my spines/dark and my rad/dark on s/l farms, both are really strong and the enemies drop very quickly

Here's my spines/dark build. He's been fun to play solo and on teams. I built him with resist/defense in mind for a high survivability build at the cost of some recharge, I did turn dark regen into a mini nuke. The advice I would give is put your ATO's in quills and death shroud as they'll pop a little more also with death shroud the ATO proc from unrelenting fury will make it easier on endurance when it procs. Dark/Dark/Soul - How do I add more dmg to my build?

@SmokenBongs, I'm glad you liked the build as far as your questions here goes..... I chose agility for a few reasons......it added to what I was looking for to get the defense and the recharge up to make some things perma or near enough to perma and the endurance modification didn't hurt either. While I am softcapped to ranged and with fade active I'm way over but when I first started Doc and hit 50 I tried several different builds and had intuition as my alpha but then I went to DA and realized I like the missions there and wanted the extra defense to hit incarnate cap which I believe is 59. BotZ in hover was more about my playstyle than the bonuses. I usually play in hover mode so the added speed and endredux from the pair helps out with maneuverability. Possess.........I love possess, especially at the lower levels when all the goodies aren't there for you it can save your bacon against tougher baddies. I really like how they turn into shadow version of themselves and confusing EB's and AV's is really fun. -

As my main is a dark/dark soul troller I thought I'd share my build. It's got a few procs along with ranged defense and s/l resists, I also managed perma fade, hasten, haunts and soul absorption. He's been really fun to play and has been known to survive things he shouldn't....looking at some crazy luck factoring in there as opposed to anything else. Here's the build I'm using on my demon/dark MM, I currently run her at +2/x8 with no issues and can run at +3/x8 again at no issues. I had a specific idea in mind during the build of debuffing as much as possible along with ranged defense being capped and s/l resists at the cap. My demons using survive most battles and rarely do I have to resummon them except when we aggro a few additional mobs we weren't expecting. As far as the endurance issues, while it's still there I found with agility for endurance as well as the defense and recharge paired with ageless they're pretty much a thing of the past. Most of the damage will come from your phantom army and your phantasm with your main attack being blind......low levels will be rough with just a single attack, this appears to be an endgame type build. It's very defensive and has high recharge for perma about everything. As for the use of Red Fortune sets, it appears to be from a bonus standpoint to get his build where he wants it to be. With the expense........costly but not over costly with most of the IO's going for 1-2 mil each and the specialty and procs going for 3+ each.

The main ones that come to mind are superior invisibility and group invisibility, as shadowfall and a stealth IO works the same and gives you better defenses. Flash, I never really found a use for it due to the long recharge and the fact that everything is usually dead without much worry.........and black hole, yeah.......I don't think I've ever found a use for black hole. With that being said I do usually add superior inv into my builds just to hold a LotG proc.
