  1. So! One of the most confusing things I've found with the absorb mechanic is that it's almost functionally identical to +Max Health effects. You gain temporary hit points for a short amount of time, the only difference is that hit points generated by +Max Health can be healed/regenerated. However, since it's easier to see when you get temporary hit points from Absorb (the silver bar) than it is for +Max Health (no visual change) I propose that for the purpose of click powers that we replace +Max Health with Absorb or Absorb over Time. Autopowers with +Max Health will remain unchanged, since this permanently increases your hit point maximum and doesn't change unless the power is somehow deactivated. Powers affected would be; Chill Mastery - Hoarfrost Cold Domination - Frostwork Cold Mastery - Hoarfrost Ice Armor - Hoarfrost Ice Mastery - Hoarfrost Invulnerability - Dull Pain Energy Aura - Overload Regeneration - Dull Pain Stone Armor - Earth's Embrace Stone Mastery - Earth's Embrace With these changes in mind, we would likely see more benefit from enhancements since +MaxHealth is affected differently than Absorb. So, there would have to be a few changes made to accommodate this, namely removing any standard healing effects they may already have. There is also potential to add Absorb or Absorb over Time to a number of other powers in order to provide a boost to functionality, open access to healing enhancement sets, and improve on their theme. Good candidates for additional absorb functionality are; Empathy Field Mastery Force Field Force Mastery Luminous Aura Pain Domination Shield Defense Umbral Aura
  2. The new origin power pools seem far more formulaic in their approach, and there may be a reason for that; they are exclusive from one another. Players can freely pick between any power pools they wish, but they can only select a single origin power pool, so that's why they all appear so similar in design. However, it's true that these new power pools set a new precedent for balancing, especially versus conventional travel powers. In order to compete, old power pools need to appear more viable with a little rebalancing. Travel powers should probably follow the same formulaic approach as origin power pools so they balance out against each other, and after that other pool powers should be looked at to see what changes they need to meet the new balance criteria. Travel powers should look like this; an attack power a toggle power a travel power (with new secondary functionality) a team power a strong self buff This means the nature of some travel power pools will change, but will balance out a little more evenly.
  3. I wouldn't say so, the broaches aren't tied to an animation rig like gloves and boots, they're a static texture model that could be applied anywhere. In fact, the broaches change position and size when you change what kind of cape you use, and some of the broach models were even taken from chest details and belts already.

  5. Could be interesting! I imagine this powerset using many of the animations from Kinetic Melee and Force of Will, plenty of hand movement to display momentum and force.
  6. Seems like an interesting idea! My guess it would only work for certain belts though, some models seem a bit unsuitable.
  7. It's not the case of duplicate mechanics, it's the case of duplicate powers. A powerset like this needs its own identity if its to work in tandem with Trick Arrow, otherwise I just dont see it working very well for controllers.
  8. I think there are some interesting ideas here! My guess is that the reason we have Trick Archery for Blasters is because it does indeed have a lot of Mez potential. That being said there is the problem of this powerset having too many overlapping powers with Trick Arrow, which isn't great for Controllers, so it would have to be a Dominator-only powerset.

  10. Desert Wind is a little like Gust I believe, and Dust Devils summons smaller tornado-like pets. Ash Fall is much like Snow Storm, an area that reduces vision and accuracy.
  11. I think these would be the most likely candidates for sure, there's certainly data for Wind Control, and some discussion for a proper Sniper Rifle blast powerset too. Water Melee might be viable too, since there's existing stuff in game at least.
  12. This may have already been suggested but would it be possible to add asymmetric shoulder and sleeve options too? Perhaps even a face/chest/legs detail that is a complete 50/50 vertical split down the middle? Maybe on a few suits and robes too?

So! one of the lesser explored mechanics in the game was a little thing called Day Jobs, something that provided a nice narrative element for how your characters spend time off-screen, and provided a small reward for spending time logged off in that job location. However, there wasn't really any further exploration of the concept besides adding in a new day job here and there, most of which didn't even have an associated accolade to progress towards to. I figured since the concept hasn't been tinkered with since CoH's final days, I would take a stab at thinking up some new Day Job Accolade badges that a player can work towards, which I think helps with the following problems with Day Jobs, and badges on general; There are day jobs with no accolades. Some day jobs count towards far more accolades that others. Day Jobs are a means of implementing new accolades without the need of new mission arcs or zones to explore. There would be more badges for those who enjoy badge-hunting or looking for that ideal title. There would be more rewards you can earn for logging off in a single location. More temporary powers More character themes to play with! With all this in mind, here's a list of Day Job Accolades I came up with that I think would better distribute rewards and explore more themes! Been a while since I posted here but following a different discussion (and the inclusion of Electrical Affinity) I think I may have a working concept for an Earth/Stone themed support set; Earth Affinity - Desert Wind: Taken from Scirocco, works similar to Gale - Healing Crystals: Single target Heal, grants a temporary 'Crystal Armor' FX before breaking away) - Ash Fall: Taken from 'Earth' Talons of Vengeance NPCs, similar in effect to Snow Storm. - Mineraloids: Single target +DEF (All) +ACC/+ToHit/+Special, uses the 'Minerals' FX - Mud Bath: AoE +Regen/+Recovery patch, uses 'Mud Pots' FX with the 'Corrosive Vial' FX layered on top) - Stimulating Salts: Single target Mez Protection/Toxic & Psionic resistance, uses the 'Salt Crystals' secondary FX on the head - Sand Blast: Identical to 'Throw Sand' from Martial Combat, but uses the 'tenebrous tentacles' animation - Dust Devils: Taken from Scirocco, works similar to Tornado - Earthen Fumes: Location AoE Hold/-DEF/-RES/-DMG/-ToHit, uses the 'Volcanic Gasses' FX, but each target gets a 'Smoke' aura around their head

There are plenty of powers (both player and NPC) to make a full Blast powerset and an accompanying Manipulation powerset for sure, but now that Electric Affinity is coming out I'm pondering whether an earth based Support set can be made too... I'll likely add that in my own thread, but for now I'd certainly say that Earth Blast is a MUST for the game moving forward. Besides Control powersets, Blast is the only powerset type without any new additions brought to the game by the new dev teams.

  20. Giving the player the same three shuriken attacks as Genin makes sense, so I'm all for it. But I would also suggest reworking the powerset so Genin use the updates shuriken stuff from Martial Assault. Power 1 - Shuriken Throw Power 2 - Heavy Glaive (Martial Assault's Explosive Shuriken, without the explosion) Power 3 - Explosive Shuriken (Classic version)

  22. The Arachnoid legs do indeed use the same rig as the crab spider backpack. I think the meat doctor backpack does too, but I could be wrong. I think those are the only other two things in game that use the crab spider animation rig, besides maybe Lord recluse himself.
  23. Another quick one. Would it be possible to make it so that when you leave Praetoria you can continue on with your current alignment? Or perhaps even create new praetorian equivalent of the normal alignments based on your story? (These alignments would be pretty nice even when playing Praetorian content too!) Warden = Vigilante Crusader = Villain Responsibility = Hero Power = Rogue (These alignments are just a 'best fit' sorta deal, their motives/morals may be different, but this works for the narrative at least) Also, the option for 'dual origin' characters would be nice too. I have so many characters that wouldn't strictly fall into one origin, so it would be nice to have hybrid origins that properly portray your character. I'm unsure how this would (or should) affect characters in terms of gameplay, but I quite like the idea all the same. Besides! there's plenty of comic book characters with mixed origins, even a few in the CoH roster too! Perhaps when you select your 'primary origin', a new tab opens up for your 'secondary origin'? Your origin symbol would then split in two, and your origin reads something like Science/Technology or Magic/Natural depending on your primary and secondary choice!
