Something to play towards or un-necessary forced time sink
Infinitum replied to Hero_of_Light's topic in General Discussion
Show me where I said I hated anything. You are directly missing my point by misrepresenting what I said here. Again, and I told you the same thing last year - what you are asking for is already here. Don't seek validation with what you have or don't have, seek it with the enjoyment of playing something that in all honestly we are all lucky to have again. If that's not enough then it never will be. -
Something to play towards or un-necessary forced time sink
Infinitum replied to Hero_of_Light's topic in General Discussion
Playing this game is its own reward. Time sinks will not increase the player base. We are fortunate it's back, 1500 badges, multiple oro arc settings to choose from - and 1000 character slots. The addition of the LRTP opens up a new teleport zone for every zone accolade gained. Thats your grind and thats enough. There is plenty of fulfillment playing this game without needing to have a chest beater that you did x to get y - because that already exists with badges. If you need anything other than that to continue playing, you are playing the wrong game. The biggest validation in this game for me is that it exists again and I can play it. I don't need unique things to keep luring me back in to trick me into time sinking - I do that anyway with making new diverse characters each with a unique style to master. What you are asking for is already here really. New content with multiple branched possibilities im all for. No gated stuff built on grind - hard pass. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
There is a lot of truth to what you say here, and I would take it a step further to say anything is skippable if you aren't worried about being optimal. Just like any attack chain will work it just wouldnt be optimal. Being optimal isn't a prereq with this game - theres lots of ways to play it to meet anyone's satisfaction and being optimal isn't a must. -

TF under BU was still a high DPS power even then, if you skipped it then you were missing the boat. High Recharge two ETs and a TF in a BU cycle that you could spam every 20 seconds was fatal. -
Its leagues better than the pre nerf live version IMO.

Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I have found the new EM to be a balanced set and compromise in every way. Those not gushing over it are the my way or the highway types, that are willing to throw away all of the good it brought in addition to fast EM under focus for an outdated and underperforming feature of fast EM all the time. Thats just not going to happen - nor should it. Looking back on it it was horribly imbalanced compared to how CPH has redesigned it. -

It kinda was then too, everyone ran this... BU. ET. TF. ET. Then whatever filler you needed. If you didn't run that you weren't maximizing the set against the weaker or slower powers in it. Not much is different in the new EM just the order of attack, and the lesser or slower powers are buffed EP TF WH, and you get an added AOE, a buffed slow ET that's worth using now even without focus. Add in focused ET it's light years better. The game has always been about optimal attack chains, even old EM. -
For survivability on a scrapper go either Ninjitsu Or energy aura Either is top notch and really depends on your theme. For damage, I would go claws, or energy melee once its out of beta. Claws shreads groups and EM assassinates them. Katana and STJ is also good. I have builds for any of them if you are interested.

Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'll keep this short and sweet, yes it does. You want to label it my personal opinion - thats fine - I think it benefits tankers and im sticking to that. Well yeah, and I dont mean this is in a rude way, but you do need to try it. Since you haven't yet played it, your only evidence is that several people have confirmed what I'm telling you - through testing this extensively. This is a feedback thread, and since by your own admission you havent played it - you would kinda need to do that to be able to know whether my feedback and others was convincing. Thats completely up to you though, but any statement about the validity of my feedback from you is weightless until you actually play the set. Yes, there is because the brute will have much higher numbers than the tanker and pretty close to the scrapper stalker simply because of fury and high dmg cap alone. The capability is there for a brute to do insane numbers with this - again requires testing for you to base a reliable opinion based on the feedback from my testing. Thats why we are testing it and providing feedback - that it stuns reliably and no further changes are needed. If once you test that - you find otherwise post your feedback then, but until then - theres really nothing more to say about it really. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
its a tankers inherant T1 - barrage isnt a widely chosen power, but tankers are gifted with it. With it being a focus user it adds a layer to tanker EM that probably wont be chosen by many on the other ATs just twice. Theres not much to say other than its reliable and useful, and doesnt need any more attention. brutes have fury, high dmg + high dmg cap - brute uses its inherant to scale with everything in the set well. Tankers cap increases under focus Stalker PC has higher dmg and longer recharge than the other ATs. -

Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
The latest patch kinda already allows for this situationally. FET is good across all Ats but is favored on scrappers and stalkers because of double focus capability Barrage being -regen and stun favors tankers PC - is favored on tankers with larger target cap and stalkers - increased dmg. All of them works across all ATs and you can even mix it up under double focus. As far as stuns go, its reliable, by any normal attack chain of any power choice combination you are going to get stuns reliably. Its a very versatile set that offers up different strengths across all ATs while being reliable in each of those offerings. -

You should really log into beta and try it then, its a really fun set that layers stun and is reliable also - with excellent damage. -

Its not slanted towards recharge - I am 15-20 sec from perma hasten. I could swap a few things to get perma but I don't want to give up survivability. -

I have had similar experiences when testing this. Not at all unheard to lock an AV down. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yeah having tested this since late July, I have never had any issues landing stuns across all ATs across a variety of levels and across a variety of enemies. I really dont understand the stun complaint because its really reliable and easy to do. -

Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Ok, look nobody here said its inconsequential. The point is its there - and it works flawlessly in the New format. If You want it to be any better - troller are Dominator have the purple AT badges. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Again, control is a secondary effect, if you are living and dying by that, you are looking for a troller or a Dominator - which also has Energy Assault. I am when what you are wrong about is how the set functions - which regarding stuns - it works and performs to a high standard. So yes it is necessary to point that out when you are either missing that point or misdirecting that point. -

Again this post is still accurate as to how it functions. -
Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Infinitum replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Continued use of your powers increase your chance and stacks - no you cant just hit one power and perma stun anymore but all the attacks are faster now and you get more chance to stun just by using them. All the while damaging the crap out of anything in your way. -

I'm not on a defensive loop - and was that even really necessary to say?
