Crazy thing is if this happened it would be middle of the pack. lol. It was never as out of whack as it was claimed, because you could outperform EM easily with superstrength, but EM was a boss killer I lived for 2 shotting bosses and 1 shotting lieutenants. Just a different approach to how most normal sets worked. It wss strictly single target that lost its single rarget effectiveness in the nerf. Castle was my Statesman, I'll hold further thoughts about him, but any other arcs to remove npcs are developed I vote that one. hehe
-
Look, you can say this all you want to, there was constant whining on the forums then to nerf EM because of PvP stalkers. Thats a fact. Shortly after that it was nerfed. I'm not Colombo but I can figure that one out.
-
And thats how it happened.
-
No, it was for stalkers, and pvp because honestly with AS and ET animating around a second WITH stuns, it wad an abusive setup. But nerfing it across the board killed tank EM. There was a ton of whining about Stalker PvP EM and that wad the origin of the nerf. I know I was there right in the middle of it then.
-
No, I don't. lol My EM tank was like losing a pet that I had for 7 years. So, no I don't have to let anything go because those nerfs were wrong and should serve as a very vocal reminder as to what not to do ever again.
-
But is toning down damage on the tank side the answer? Because TW didnt get any increases from the tank patch right?
-
You can say that all you want to, but tje nerf to EM then was egregious and largely punitive for some reason. It destroyed lots of characters, and made more than a few quit the game. So no, it is a very good reason to bring that up so as to not repeat that mistake.

That is true

This isn't an arcadey feeling fighting game though, if I wanted that I'd be on CO. EM says hello. That's exactly why nerfs SHOULDNT be overdone and in force. Thats not like GDN or ED which was necessary for the game to progress IMO. Nerfs like EM removed the fun from the set, which honestly wasnt game breaking even though it was OP. It wasn't game breaking because it had crap AOE but made up for it in ST. I could care less about TW but like a lot of people I think it needs to be OP based on how it functions, blooms late, and is rough on end. The significant changes line is concerning, because it's only significantly OP in one scenario when paired with bio on Scrappers. Nuke that does it make it unplayable for tanks and brutes? Or does it make the scrapper version not fun anymore? That scenario should be avoided if Homecoming wants to survive - and that's not a threat, just an observation because it appears we are staring down the barrel of a huge nerf package coming up however you want to slice it may not be the best idea. I can't wait to see what is in store for EM though.

The only thing they messed up was making it look like super street fighter 2 the arcade game. lol

Fade and Farsight Should Not Benefit from External Buffs

And that's the crux of it, it's not meeting their predisposition for what the game should be like. There is nothing broken about this. Only in their vision of what it should be. It doesn't lead people to choose time by a runaway margin, or even in first place in most categories. It doesn't lead to run away survivability because most teams already have it. Where exactly is it broken aside from the idea that it is? -

Its ok man I know deep down inside you only wish you could be like me and enjoy the game as it is without getting your feelings hurt because something doesn't meet your distorted criteria of what the game should be. I honestly feel sorry for you, but if you would like to hang out with me so joy could rub off on you, hey I'll let ya. 😊 You might even learn a thing or two. Yeah because incarnate teams are sitting still for that long. -
Fade and Farsight Should Not Benefit from External Buffs
Infinitum replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I did, and I don't think you can do what I asked objectively beyond the usual "it shouldn't be able to do that" mantra. You can say it has been defined, but it really hasnt and it then falls on personal opinion that it is a problem. And nowhere has it been quantified how it's breaking the game which is what would in turn make it a problem. Ie it's not a runaway set pick over others. It does not lead to any scenario where it makes any top level team any faster or more durable than any other set or above what any AT on that team is currently. -

Define problem and quantify that in game terms. -
Fade and Farsight Should Not Benefit from External Buffs
Infinitum replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I bet you couldnt define what the games balance point is. -
But its to the point where either do it the right way or dont do it. Right? The timframe or difficulty shouldnt be an automatic exclusion for balancing it, otherwise why balance it in the first place? Especially if its truly needed. If its not worthy of the best effort, why is it worthy of a punitive effort or half baked effort? Or maybe it isnt worthy of any effort and it is just punitive. Those are questions that need answers.

Oh stop, nothing was posed the way you just did there. And you know it. -
Yeah I think if I remember the energy melee nerf it was mainly because of stalkers and PvP. I had a pve EM tank and it utterly ruined the feel of it. Stalkers still had AS by losing whirling hands which is a crap power anyway, and that's why it didnt affect them as badly. But having 2 super high fast attacks like ET was too much, on tanks though with no reliable AOE the nerf was overkill.

There is a reason its more popular on scrappers though and I think we all know why. Its the same reason those scrapper dark melee test builds were so out of whack with OP damage. I wasn't seeing that with the tank I was testing on either build. We can blame the scrappers I think. Hehe. Jk. Maybe....

There is only 1 problem with buffs, everytime they try to or do, theres a host griping about that too, either not good enough or too good. Just look at the recent dark melee fiasco. They were IMO really close to perfecting that too. I dunno, none of it would affect me, and I tell myself each time to stay out of it, but its like watching a storm off in the horizon - usually it will eventually affect you too when talking about nerf s - and thats coming from, a former energy melee refugee.

I think if we are objectively going to look at something like TW we have to look at it in the scope of melee as a whole. Yeah it's top of the scrapper list but not tank or brute. On the Scrappers the TW bio combo are half of the TW users - take out its combo with bio I think it's 7th place. I've never really seen the hype of TW aside from being able to hit high DPS, but to me it's a clunky arcady feel that I've never liked. So ultimately I wouldn't give 2 cares whether it was nerfed or not. But based on the FOTM stats it's not popular outside of one AT and one combo on that AT with bio. My point is perhaps TW only needs to be looked at on Scrappers - specifically its synergy with bio. Arbitrarily nerfing it across the board across all ATs I do not think is the answer. I can't think of but maybe 1 or 2 people I know that use TW, and we are an active elite group that plays regularly every night. As for feeling unneeded, any AT and any powerset can be subjected to that - that's why we need more content, and an added difficulty option for diverse enemies that do more exotic and non traditional damage.

I always put avalanche in shield charge because it mob controls good with the knockdown proc. I put blistering cold into a fast recharging fast animating attack because it has a chance to hold - and it does frequently. Put might of the tanker or gauntleted fist anywhere really but they are better in auras or aoes.

Fade and Farsight Should Not Benefit from External Buffs
Infinitum replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Do you even know what beam rifle is capable of? Obviously not or you wouldn't have said any of the above. It melts mobs with no chance of getting hit especially if you can hover blast, not only that but it does -res and accepts -res procs, -def, and -regen - while doing near blaster like damage if you slot correctly. You want to see me do it? come on excelsior and look me up, I'll show you how my sent is better in teams than /Time. Not saying time is bad, but it's not nearly as OP as you guys are pearl clutching about farsights interaction with PB. You are literally removing one of the great set synergies in the game for a support AT. Let that sink in for a sec. -
