    My suggestion is for more sets like "Overwhelming Force", the Universal Damage Invention Origin set- attuned, unique, but not Superior levels. Instead of Universal Damage, each set works in specific damage powers: Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Ice, Energy, Neg. Energy, Toxic, and Psionic attacks.

    An example would be a set called "Future Sight", which can be slotted in attacks that do Psionic damage. The proc enhancement would be a short +Defense boost. Set bonuses would be similar level to Overwhelming Force, maybe even sharing some, plus new bonuses not seen in other sets. Maybe +ToHit (instead of +Accuracy), or resistance to types of debuffs?

    If you like the idea, feel free to suggest other set ideas. I feel the procs should avoid effects already associated with that damage type (ex: Ice doesn't more Slow Movement, maybe chance to create a small fog patch?)

    Why not let us decide what bonuses are on our enhancements?

    A point-based trade-off system where we lose things as we gain other things?

    Maybe I'm doing that thing where we invent another game again by thinking too big.

    Not so much damage types, but I think we need IO sets that combine a mez effect with damage - most, if not all of the hold sets, for instance, do not buff damage at all, yet nearly all such powers *do* deal damage.  A quick check here seems to hold true for other mez effects as well...

    I've always considered Gish to be OPAF. I appreciate the manipulation of rules as much as the next billionaire, but in a game where you're supposed to team up with people... I am in two minds because the game doesn't have a gigantic population and players to team with are sparse, so making an OP solo character does have logic in it's favour.

  3. I've always loved the idea of nemesis. Custom generated content (inc. Nemesis) is one thing AI promises.

    What's especially cool about nemesis is that even if a troll makes some derpy looking toon, with the intention of making something silly, comic books have already proved that villains can look daft.

    Red side has already been diluted so much over the years, both by Paragon Studios and Homecoming.  There's no need to take even more of its identity away, and I actually consider it slightly offensive.

    What does "Diluted" mean in this sense?

    Also, how is it removing identity to replace the name with something more neutral? You wanted diversity, so you lose uniqueness. I mentioned it in the OP.

    Nope.

    I don't care about what the ATs are called. I don't *care.* I've got characters that have absolutely nothing to do with Arachnos that are ... "Soldiers of Arachnos." Any discussion of them where I have to use that are purely OOC. The character is the character, picked for powerset combinations that work for that character.

    (Also, as far as "Stalker?" Refers to more than just the illegal activity. And I give you one heroic figure from early in another series with it as (part of) his name:)

    "I don't care because I headcanon" is a teflon reason that can't be defeated so ye. I can respect your opinion even though I don't share it.

  6. I have a huge problem creating characters that I like.

    I just don't understand how the primary powerset goes with the secondary. I have very few that I've actually got to 50 and here's some examples;

    Willpower/SS tanker. Easy - it makes sense, he's a beefy bloke who bashes things and doesn't want to lose. No problem there.

    Energy/Energy blaster. Easy - it's all the same powerset really, so I don't have any problem merging the two.

    Bots/FF MM.  It's got robots and technology that makes bubbles. I can headcanon that too.

    DP/Ninja Training blaster. Possibly my most adventurous character - a spanish-ish pistolero-and-sword character who fights the corrupt governor for freedom of the people.

    ... and then I'm struggling, because whilst I have lots of costumes, I can't really get the power sets to make sense. 😞

  7. I know, there are no Villain Archetypes anymore. On the altar of Variety we sacrifice Uniqueness. I understand.

    But when City of Villains came out of the production machine, it turned out that the developers had chosen some AT names that don't seem to make sense when rolled by a heroic character.

    Here are some ATs, for comparison. As you can see, the heroic ATs have very generic names, but the villain ones seem specific to villainy;

    Blaster

    Brute - I guess we can get away with this.

    Controller

    Corrupter - there's only one interpretation of this name, and it's not heroic.

    Dominator -

    Defender

    Mastermind -

    Scrapper

    Stalker - stalking is illegal in my country, I don't know about yours.

    Tanker

    You could say that the developers did a good job of labelling the ATs because they do describe villainy.

    Should some of these villain ATs have different names? It's just an itch I have ...
