  1. To be frank, my belief is that Copywrong shouldn't last anything like as long as it does. They just keep lobbying governments to extend and extend it, long after the original creative is dead. How on earth can they possibly justify that?! It's bullshit. They've had more than their effort's worth out of that Copywrong. It should have worn off long ago.

With that in mind, I would not only refrain from reporting them, but copy them in sympathy (and irony). See how they like it.

    So gave it a whirl...

    18,000,606 : purchased 6xUnbreakable Constraint: Hold/Endurance recipes

9,650,000 : cost for mats, two-thirds spent on oranges

76,000,000 : what the finished product sold for after listing at 85% of recent sales value (sold at the going rate despite lower listing)

49,000,000 : profit after 2-3 days listing on AH (apparently Holds do not move all that quickly but hey, I didn't do much work either).

I have enough influence lying around (and note, I consider myself impoverished) to, market willing, maintain a pipeline where every day I purchase 6 recipes and the requisite mats, make, and list so in theory it could be 49 million profit coming in every day. It would take about 3 weeks to get to a billion influence....

...more work than I can see myself doing but doable.

You're welcome 🙂 I usually did 10 of each enhancement in one set (60) at a time.

... still got a bunch of stuff on one of my characters ... yes, all 112 are Hecatombs. Anybody want a set? Post your global.

Batman has his Batcave. Superman has the Fortress of Solitude. The Teen Titans have Titan Tower. (Hmm, DC is much more base oriented than Marvel...) So is it strictly necessary to fight bad guys? No. Is it necessary for some people's character concepts? Yes.

So, we have this situation where characters have a base as a narrative tool. The scene in the base is a time of introspection and the resolution of their personal problems - as we know from the 3 Act narrative structure.

Is there a way to tie this into your character in the game or is it way too broad a concept/too vague a thing and dependent on roleplay and down to the player's imagination instead?

What I don't like about this is that it takes the idea of playing a game with rules that affect others and flings it into the bin.

At that point I may as well be playing with dolls on the living room floor.

  4. One reason I hate red side is the great wall of horrible cave-based snake missions that I'm confronted with every time I get into the game.

I think that if these were replaced with something less ... er ... mythological, I'd be more inclined to stick around. I'm not sure tho... maybe some testing is required?

Got off to an early start with my 2023 Redside Crawl.  I chose a Corruptor this time.  Dark/Dark.  First time taking something besides a Brute.

I am doing other things slightly different as well.  I will solo every contact Redside, for every mission they give until they say "Go find someone else, I have nothing"  That is as usual.  The odd part is I will be Rogue.

As a Rogue I will be badging Blueside as I level.  Whatever mission badges I can get (through Ouro) once that opens up. I will not be completing all Blueside content.  Just badge missions in Ouro.  Gold as well, (which is all, sigh) and of course location, history. etc. While the core of the run is still the same, this is definitely more a badge centric themed run.

    I am curious how many badges I can amass by 44... (45-50 content is done at 50, so no reason to stop at 49)  Level stops are 4, 7, 8, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29, 34, 39, 44 to finish content.

Are you planning any adventures in the new year?

Is this the vampire er... kindred with the high collar I saw the other day?

One! One dead enemy ah ah ah ah...

  6. I've made billions without really trying hard. You need a quite a few millions to really get going, but my secret was purple IO recipes. Just make them and sell the IOs. The profits are enormous. You spend about 1.5m for the salvage and (now) only around 6m for the recipe (down from around 12-15m). Sell at 15m, profit is 7.5m. Huge. Back in the day we were buying recipes for 12-15m, and would sell the IOs at 20-22m, so the profit was about the same). That's PER IO. Do that a lot, and you're billionaire. Welcome to my world, I shouldn't have said anything, I'm an idiot, but the longer I make this paragraph, the more people will just TL;DR it and I'll be safe, safe with my billions, all huddled up like Scrooge McDuck burning pretend money to keep virtually warm. Lovely. I've still got tonnes of IOs on the market at 20+m from a couple of years ago. My advice is if you want to be rich, forget the cheap-and-fast stuff, go straight to the top and start shifting luxury units - rich people aren't necessarily smart people, no matter what american culture tells you, Mr Trumpet.

TL;DR nothing to see here, move along.

to try to make a very complicated thing simple....

the orinal devs took a simple thing.  contact that gives content.   then made it complicated.  that "content" was randomly assigned to 3-5 different contact names.  you randomly get one.

then they did that about 30 more times.

so trying to do "all content" you have to cross check a couple hundred ghost contacts

I'm a massive fan of replayability in games via varying the existing content, but this ... isn't it.

Blueside is a nightmare for me when I do a completionist run.  I keep a spreadsheet and notes like I am prepping for a doctoral thesis.  So many contacts that are alt contacts that give same content.   I get why they did it.  To make it seem fresh.  I just wish I could go back in time and exsanguinate them before they could write it down…

Eh whut? Same content? What's that, then? I don't know much about the this stuff.

It doesn't really make a bit of difference to gameplay, but there are some missions where the hostage selection needs to be better to fit the story. I just finished Long Jack's "Rescue unwilling recruits" mission, where you free four unwilling recruits from the clutches of the Council. Two of them were fat men in business suits; it seems to me that the Council would pick people in better shape when they run their press gangs -- you start with someone who's significantly overweight, and they may have some underlying medical condition that will lead them to croak before they get through conditioning training, wasting the time and effort put into them.

I would love to see fat Nosferatu in business suits coming out of those conversion chambers ...

  10. What did the devs do better when Gold Side came around?

I think it sets the scene and tells "a story", much better than the regular game, but is that what players want? I'm not sure, but I know I like it.

What's wrong with gold side? In my opinion it should be levels 30-50, not 1-20. The one thing players want when they come in the game is a few levels so they can get some powers. People want DFBs to jack themselves to level 10 or so. If they're in Praetoria, there's no DFB, so it's a long-ass trawl through missions with little but a Nemesis Wand.

I've got 28 incarnates. I've used Banished Pantheon, Carnival, Knives, Storm and Talons multiple times and most of the others at least once. The only ones I haven't tried are Demons, Nemesis, Rikti and Seers, largely because they don't fit the character concept.

If they don't fit your character concept, then your character concept doesn't fit with the game's story.

+1 to the idea of bucketing salvage for crafting, not just for the markets

This can be done without losing the lore and flavour.... the individual salvage would remain, but any drop would be useful

Most of the objections in this thread are pretty much gaslighting IMHO - over focus on the OP's mention of newbies for justification without addressing the main proposal

It would certainly speed up the process of buying components. That would be very welcome.

Sadly, it also removes a bit of immersion.. having a "white", or a "yellow" or an "orange" drop whilst on a mission isn't quite the same as a "Runebound Armour" or whatnot.

    I think it's worth it.

    In principle, I agree completely.

I do think we'll all need a great deal of patience, however.  My understanding is animations are the most difficult part of adding things.

I find this quite curious on a number of counts. The number is Two. The best number. Of counts.

COUNT ONE : I've played a lot of games and although, as you state, new animations are quite rare, City of Heroes has more than most if not all of them.

COUNT TWO : Motion capture is relatively cheap these days, you don't even need a fancypants suit with ping pong balls on it.
