  1. I find it difficult to use this set on many characters just because of the animations. They look great on certain types of characters..but only on those. For everyone else that wants to beat someone with their fists.. street justice and super strength do the job. Id love to see some alternate animations that are less "taekwondo" and more "Muy Thai" and "shaolin kung fu". It just feels like SJ/SS fit a LOT more themes. That being said.. from a purely functional standpoint, martial arts just doesnt offer much. If I was going to improve it, id probably lean into its niche of being for fast, agile fighter style characters. A staple of those types of characters are the defense based sets like Ninjitsu and super reflexes. So if you have your defense soft capped.. what would help sell Martial Arts as a primary are bonuses to resistance, some healing/absorption, and/or to-hit debuffs. Some thoughts: Replace Focus Chi with Defensive Stance or..i dunno.. "Horse Stance". A toggle ability such as you might find in blaster secondaries that adds some recovery, and some absorption. You are sacrificing some burst and gaining some durability and resource management. Replace the disorient on cobra strike with a nice -to hit debuff. Maybe add a debuff to storm kick too. Dark has had the market cornered on -to hit for too long.
  2. So im trying to make a costume for a power armor(ish) time traveling cop type character. I already have a look for him that I like, but I want to give him another costume that is kind of like a stealth/special forces look. I want to incorporate his armor into it though. Anyway.. I am having a heck of a time making something that looks cool, so I was hoping I could get some people to post some pictures of their characters with this kind of theme, and see if I could get some inspiration for mine. Thanks for reading 😄
  3. For controller.. id say Fire/Kinetics. Its been around forever, its effective, and it can handle most anything you throw at it. Not the best controller mind you.. just solid. Dominator is a different beast. Ive never really played one for long, because they always feel like a worse controller to me. But when people talk about effective dominator combos..one of the first ones mentioned is always Mind/Psychic. So that might be their "workhorse".
  4. 3 colors is a minimum requirement. I know some people completely disagree with me on that, but its true. I have seen some "acceptable" costumes that only feature 2 colors. Usually they either had a very classic design, or actually had a 3rd color through auras. I have never seen a great costume with fewer than 3 colors though. Any color can be used as an accent color when done right, but the easiest ones to use are typically Black, White, Gold, and Red. Bright colors are less appealing than dark ones. Now, before you yell at me.. im not saying dark COSTUMES.. im saying dark colors. The colors on the left side of the pallet look more realistic and can actually make a brightly colored costume more noticeable than the colors on the right side. Spider-man used the left side of the pallet in the 70s and 80s, but the spider-man you know today..and pretty much every other hero.. is rocking that right side. It just looks better. All the best costumes are layered. When I say layered, I mean you make use of pretty much every available costume "attachment" to some degree or another. You may only have a small belt, or minimal shoulder pads...but everything is used. Exceptions are the head, and tail. You may not always use every slot on a helmet, for example, and tails are only useful on specific types of costumes. Using every slot, when done right, lends texture to your costume, and makes it look less like you just threw something on to get into the game. Auras are some of the most striking options you can place on your costume. They give it some "movement" and make them eye catching..however, they arent always right for your look. Dont be afraid to skip the auras.. but also remember that most every aura can be set to only appear while in combat. Maybe you really want to have the fiery eyes..but dont want to look like an avenging angel when your standing under atlas reading the paper. So use those combat only options.
  5. Here is my attempt. I wasnt sure on your powersets, or overall theme for the guy. I went with a crazed angry spines guy. (just noticed that you said radiation/regeneration.. my bad. Well the non-spiney part of the costume still applies :D) BloodCrystal.costume
  6. Ok so this is The Exalted One. A storm/energy defender recolored to look like he is controlling sand. Though admittedly the energy blast looks a little more like energy than sand, but that is beside the point. The issue im having is creating a costume that conveys a sort of wind ravaged desert dweller. I played around with some egyptian themes as well. In my mind I havent completely hammered out his origins.. he will either be an ancient egyptian mummy, or a semi-freed Djinni. The chains and such are to show he has escaped..either from his tomb or his lamp. I have two images here.. I intend to play him with the auras in the top image, but did a screenshot without the auras so his current costume could be seen more clearly (it is a slightly different costume but basically the same). Im just having a hard time making a costume that looks cool, conveys the "ravaged desert escapee" theme.. and also looks good when surrounded by the sand cloud auras. Any help is appreciated 😄 Thanks!
  7. Thank you! I actually went through almost every aura testing each one to find the one that best conveyed heat and ventilation. Celestial came out the best I think, though there were a couple others that also did a fairly good job. Originally I only had it coming from his hands..which looks a bit cleaner, but it is also less noticeable. I eventually put it to come from the shoulders as well because it just looks cooler(hotter) 😄
  8. I have in fact rerolled him as a Plant/Dark. Only level 20 so far but already I'm liking it. Id love to see your build. I made my own using rmancu's as a guide. Seeing yours would be a great way to refine my build..and maybe give me some different tricks to squeeze every ounce of effectiveness out of my guy.
  9. So my main is a Plant/Dark controller named Master Druid. I just rerolled him from a Plant/Rad controller. I like his costume..I think its pretty good. But I dont get as many admirers as I do on some of my other characters :D.. this makes me self conscious and Ive been playing around with updating his look to see if I can make him a little more striking and interesting. If anyone wants to take a crack at it.. im looking for good ideas 😄
  10. Left to right on top: Aeonclad - Time/Beam Rifle defender Forgefather - Dark/Claws tank Wetsuit - Water/Poison Corruptor Left to right on bottom: Hell Crown - Fire/Time Controller Bloodstream - Water/Regen Sentinel Master Druid - Plant/Dark Controller
  11. Hmm..thanks for the suggestions everyone. Im gonna use some of that info to rework my build and see if that works. Then ill compare it side by side to that plant/dark build and see if I need to reroll my character 😄
  12. So ive been sitting here trying to make a plant/rad build for about 3 hours now. Im starting to think maybe I should just scrap the radiation part and reroll my character with a different secondary. Essentially..im trying to make a build that has reasonable defense, and enough recharge to perma hasten, accelerate metabolism, and carrion creepers. I am also dipping my toes in the proc monster builds a little bit. I dont want to fully commit to a proc monster build because im not rich and if I spend millions equipping this guy and procs get nerfed, im gonna be screwed. But a couple proc monster powers to make him own a little more...i figure thats doable. Anyway...the issue im running up against is that this build just doesnt seem to have enough of the "right kind of powers". I dont have enough defensive abilities to give myself reasonable defenses, or to equip enough LOTG. At this point im six slotting maneuvers and weave, and putting in 1 LOTG and 5 Red fortune.. and even doing that im still not quite to the perma build I want, and my defenses are still hovering around 17-22%. Does anyone have any advice or a build I could benefit from? Even if that advice is "give up on plant rad and play plant/* instead". For context.. im creating this character to be a solo/duo AV killer. As well as just an all around fun character to play. I thought radiation would be a good choice for this and now I fear I may have to start over.
  13. Do you, or anyone else, have a build for this? I have a Grav/Storm controller collecting dust that I just dont know what to do with and this sounds like it would be great fun.
  14. So im looking over this gravity/time build.. and im intrigued.. however, I was wondering how I might fit Propel in the build? Is it possible without screwing everything up? Honestly I just love the power and want to use it. I dont mind if I am a little weaker for having it, but I dont understand the nuances of these proc builds well enough to figure out how to add it in without screwing everything up.
  15. So I usually duo with a friend of mine, and we want to try to complete all of the TFs with just the two of us. Controllers are my jam, so im trying to find the right controller that is a good mix of fun and effective. My duo partner is most likely going to be some kind of defense based melee DPS. So Illusion is the obvious choice because beating AVs is kind of its thing.. the problem is that I really dont like Illusion control. I mean its a fine set and all, but the playstyle just doesnt keep my interest. Ive had far more fun with Gravity and Plant control. Anyway..I was just wondering if anyone with more knowledge than me could recommend something that might fit my needs? I am trying to learn how these proc monster builds work, and there might be some potential there..but I dont want to dive into a powerset thinking that I have it figured out and realize down the road that I made the wrong choice. EDIT: I should probably clarify that the reason I say "solo AVs" when I plan on bringing someone with me, is because I prefer not to depend on him having an optimal build. Id like to be able to pretty much take care of it myself if necessary. I enjoy a character more when I know im capable of epic things 😄 ..plus if things go sideways, I dont want our survival to depend on both of us doing exactly the right thing at the right time.. a little room for screw ups, ya know?
  16. So I would like to play some kind of AOE centered combo. I am basically looking for a character that will level pretty quickly, and can be used for fun, or for farming resources. I am not really interested in a fire or spines based brute or tanker. I dont need this character to be "the most optimal AOE farmer". I just want something that I can have fun playing, but also use to get materials for my less farming friendly characters. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any class/role is an option. I dont have any parameters other than "good at AOE farming" and "not a brute/tank using fire or spines"
