The Hero NPC counted as your pet, so its damage counted as your damage.

My first guess is Michael Conrad, who on Hills Street Blues played Sergeant Phil Esterhaus - the tough but lovable desk sergeant who always ended his morning briefings with "Let's be careful out there."

Superman Radio Series "The Clan of the Fiery Cross" Original Broadcast Dates: 06/10/1946-07/01/1946 Synopsis: Superman (Clark Kent), Jimmy Olsen, & the Daily Planet take a stand against a racist secret society (modeled on the Ku Klux Klan) which targets an Asian-American boy.

I did this on Live intentionally. My main was an Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker, but I wanted to do a Supergirl/Power Girl homage with the same powerset combo as well. The original intention was that I would differentiate them by the main using Superleap & the female tanker using Flight, along with some alternate power & epic pool choices. But the main ended up respeccing into Flight as well (which was the travel power of the original version of the PnP character) so they ended up almost exactly the same in terms of powers. On Homecoming, I did rebuild Lara Liberty again, but this time I made her a Willpower/Energy Melee Tanker so that I wouldn't duplicate powersets.

Yes, a lot of people on the forums over the years have been unwilling to accept the idea that NCSoft pulled the plug on CoH for legitimate business reasons & so have been happy to seize upon other explanations, like culture clash or the like. It is certainly easy to see that CoH's numbers were not bad at the time of the decision to shut down the game & then assume that economics couldn't be the real cause. But as you note businesses have other metrics, & if the ROI (Return on Investment) of the existing option doesn't match the expected ROI on another option, then it is prudent to leave the existing option behind. It is worth noting that CoH had just seen off several rivals in the superhero RPG - & yet, despite clearly being the biggest fish left in that (smallish) pond, did not experience a big increase in its player base. My pet theory is that NCSoft was willing to accept what they considered relatively weak revenues from CoH during the period of strong competition, but had been expecting a big surge in CoH's popularity once the competing superhero games waned. When that surge didn't materialize NCSoft decided to allocate its resources to projects that they expected to be more profitable. It is also worth noting that computer game companies were beginning to focus on microtransactions as the way to maximize revenues in their products at this point. Many CoH players were (like me) quite resistant to that model & I get the impression that the dev team might have been as well. It makes sense to me that if NCSoft figured that they couldn't maximize CoH revenues via microtransactions due to a resistant player base (& perhaps dev team) then it should invest its resources in games where it could use that model to better effect. I sometimes wonder if the sunset of CoH was the best thing for the game, since it likely spared CoH from being bloated with the Pay-to-Win microtransaction model. If that had been the alternative future to sunsetting the game, I likely would have soured on CoH soon enough. Homecoming's resurrection of the game without that annoying economic model is arguably the best result that we could have gotten. 🤷♂️

Are Freakshow good annoying or just annoying annoying?
Mister Mass replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I find that Defeat All missions with Freakshow are annoying. Inevitably I find that I have to resweep the whole map to find the Freakshow boss that self-rezzed after I defeated him & his spawn & left him "arrested" face down chewing carpet. 😠 -
Well, I guess this proves it - a Magical Conspiracy is holding up production! 😮

Loyalist <-> Resistance ... switching alignments EVERY TIME for Praetorians
Mister Mass replied to Redlynne's topic in Guides
Congratulations! As to advice for your follow up Praetorian, all I can offer is my 4 Praetorians: Dark/Ninjitsu Stalker Sonic/Sonic Defender Ice/Cold Corruptor Plants/Thorny Dominator All passed through Praetoria with no more than the usual amounts of aggravation & rare moments of sheer terror. 😜 My experience is that Mez Protection makes the ride less annoying, but isn't essential. The best advice is to play a character that fits your playstyle & that you find fun. That makes the journey more enjoyable. 🙂 -
Problem solved. I had the HDMI cable plugged into the motherboard slot & not the video card slot. Once I corrected that, the game loaded up fine! So the problem was operator error - as expected! 😉
-
Okay, I don't see a 2nd HDMI port on my computer. Is there something I am missing on this? 🤔
-
I had already done this, which is why I posted here again after trying Apparition's suggestion. Over on the AMD Radeon boards, they offered the same solution. But despite pointing the game to the AMD Radeon card, it continues to give me the same error message as before, presumably because it is still trying to use the Intel card. Upside, I have earned 4 badges on the AMD Radeon boards! Also, the suggestion there is that my HDMI cable connecting the monitor to the computer is connected to the wrong port. I will check that when I get home. If that is the problem, I will be amused at my own lack of knowledge & apologize to everyone for wasting their time. 😉

Okay, following the thread you posted, I downloaded the OpenGL Extensions Viewer. It shows that the Intel UHD Graphics 750 card is using Version 4.6.0 - Build 30.0.101.1191 The error log from the HC Launcher when I try to start CoH shows the following: OpenGL vendor string: Microsoft Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GDI Generic OpenGL version string: 1.1.0 Your card or driver doesn't support ARB_multitexture Your card or driver doesn't support ARB_texture_compression auth 51.161.76.201 The error message is as follows: "An OpenGL driver for your video card 'Intel(R) UHD Graphics 750' was not found. The game will not run with the present configuration." I have installed & uninstalled Intel & Dell drivers back & forth, with no success. I appreciate y'all for trying to help me with this! 🙂
-
Thanks! That looks like exactly what the issue is. Unfortunately, I have followed the guide & pointed the HC Launcher & the CoH executable to the AMD Radeon card, but I am still getting the same error. I did the same with my separate Tequila install & am getting the same error there as well.
-
The new computer has 2 display adaptors listed under the Device Manager - an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT & an Intel(R) UHD Graphics 750. The computer is a Dell XPS 8940 with 11th Gen Intel(R) Core i9-11900 processor running Windows 11 Home.

Thanks. I updated drivers yesterday & stopped getting the 126 error. Instead I have been getting the following error message: "An OpenGL driver for your video card 'Intel(R) UHD Graphics 750' was not found." I have tried downloading & updating this in various ways, but with no success. I am getting this same error on my separate Tequila launcher install of the game. I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting this!
-
Homecoming Launcher, although I then downloaded Tequila in a separate install & got the same error. HC Launcher log attached below: launcher.log

I just loaded the game onto my new PC with Windows 11 Home & I am getting this same error.

In general, I don't like the idea of changing badge requirements to make them harder. But I have played this game long enough that I remember earning the Master of badges before Incarnates were available & eventually ubiquitous. (I'm reasonably sure that the OP was playing back then as well.) I recall when Master of Statesman was hard - & I recall failing several attempts at it before I joined a run with a really great team that finally got it done. My character wore that badge with pride for a long time. And here on Homecoming, I recall getting the Master of Ms. Liberty in a cakewalk as a few Incarnates on the team (including my own) made the challenge almost trivial. So I get the idea that the new setting requirements for Master runs are intended to bring back the challenge & sense of accomplishment of the original. But I second the suggestion of those earlier in this thread that the best solution is to make Grandmaster of badges. I don't think many people could justifiably complain that a new badge has significantly more difficult requirements than an existing badge, as opposed to those who might complain that the requirements for an existing badge have been changed. That is my opinion, for what it is worth.

In CoH, but particularly on Praetorian maps, I have been known to shout: "It's a set of STAIRS! You are a freaking SCIENTIST! This isn't rocket science! Just go down the *@$%! stairs! Does nobody in Praetoria learn to use STAIRS!!!" Eventually, if I shout long enough & loudly enough, they usually manage to navigate the stairs. 😉

I can definitely see it as a stylized axe as Heraclea suggests. But I must confess that to me it looks like the design for an implosion assembly nuclear weapon - with a core of fissionable material surrounded by a shell of inward-directed high-explosive lenses. But that may just be me. 😉

Capes came in Issue 2. (My army of alts & I came in with Issue 4.)

Ah yes, the underground parking lots in Brickstown & Faultline are also challenging to find at first. The Brickstown one is on the mayhem/safeguard mission map for the zone, so I am especially embarrassed I forgot about that one. ☺️
-
On the Brickstown map, there are at least 2 underground areas that can be challenging to find. One is under an area near the north wall, east of the tram. The underground area is a bit of a maze & navigating to the mission door can be a struggle. There are entrances to this underground area from the south & east down on that lower level of the map. Another is along the east wall. There is a sewer area underground there with sewer pipes as the mission doors. I usually enter that by hugging the east wall heading south & go down a spillway into the sewer. That usually puts me close the mission door.

Lord of the Rings Online, where even swift travel was a challenge! 👍
