But you as a player are in no way restricted to that, obviously. This whole conversation is ridiculous. There are sooo many ways a powerset basically like what has been asked for could be implemented, most likely as an Epic AT, but conceivably in other ways. You just can't have the word Magic in the name. Everything after that is irrelevant.
-
Not necessarily. Again, go look at the available gun models. There are magic guns in the game.
-
If there's not currently an Assault Rifle Epic for Masterminds hopefully there will be soon.
-
You can't just be wrong and then say "you made my point". That's not how it works. I made MY point.
-
That's not what it says. It says it's a person whose body has been augmented with super hero body parts. In this case it gives them control of darkness. It doesn't say anything at all about what the source of the those dark powers are. All we know from in game lore is that dark powers come from another dimension. Access to that doesn't necessarily come from magic. I am LITERALLY right now playing a Science origin Dark Blaster. There's nothing at all in the animations that screams magic, I made them pink!

Anybody can carry a gun. Take the character Bishop, mutant with energy powers, but carries a gun. Sure in the movies they connected them, but in the comics he just also carries a gun. Doesn't make him a tech based character. He's a mutant with a gun.
-
Yes that's my point. Science characters with dark powers. Darkness does not mean magic necessarily.

Murk Eidolon In Dr. Vahzilok's mind, the Eidolons are mankind's next great evolutionary leap. Unlike the cadavers, they retain all of their memories and personality. The lucky few who can pay to become an Eidolon are augmented with the remains of heroes, so they often have superpowers. Murk Eidolons, like the Mire Eidolons, have mastered the ability to control darkness. They tend to immobilize their opponents, then drain their life. Levels: 1-20 Powers Shadow Punch Melee, Moderate Negative/Smash Damage, Foe -ToHit Your Accuracy is reduced by the Shadow Punch. Dark Blast Ranged, Moderate Negative Damage, Foe -ToHit Your Accuracy has been reduced by the Dark Blast. Midnight Grasp Melee, Superior Damage over Time(Negative), Foe Immobilize, -ToHit You are Immobilized by the Midnight Grasp. Your Accuracy is reduced as a result. Dark Embrace Self, Toggle, Res( S30 L30 N20 T20 ) The Eidolon taps into the energy of the netherworld to protect him from damage. Dark Embrace shrouds the Eidolon in darkness and grants the Eidolon resistance to Lethal, Smashing, and Negative Energy Damage. Cannot be used at the same time as Murky Cloud or Obsidian Shield. Oppressive Gloom Toggle, Point Blank Area of Effect, Foe Disorient, Self -HP You have been Disoriented.

I think the idea of a set with a bunch of weird effects and some kind of runic looking animations called "Chaos" is a fine idea.
-
And you haven't looked at the wide variety of gun models available.
-
Sure they would. You haven't seen my costumes.
-
I have several Dark powerset characters that are Science based. Does Stranger Things ring a bell? I have multiple mutants that carry guns, I have a magic user who materializes Traps from another dimension.
-
We're discussing why there SHOULDN'T be a whole set of powers that are specific to Origin. Whatever redeeming qualities there may be in your powerset idea MUST be structured in such a way that they could be fittingly used by ANY Origin, just like ALL of the currently existing sets INCLUDING Traps, Assault Rifle, Beam Rifle, Dark Miasma, Empathy and more.
-
The better one already exists in game, the Sorcery Power Pool.
-
What does Primemacy mean? Nothing, to me. Look, you're going to have to face the possibility here that EVEN if one accepts the idea of a powerset with a wide variety of effects, perhaps Chaos or something, that Primemacy is not a good name for it because no one has ever seen that word before.
-
In that case, I DEMAND the devs give me Rosenfatz Manipulation NOW. Any delay is unacceptable.
-
Because PRIMACY is a word. Primemacy is not. No powerset, so far as I know, includes in the name a word invented by the developers. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
-
Alternate Origin* animations, special Origin* Auras, and finish the Origin Power Pools. *Labelled with an origin, but not locked to one.

Tracing IPs of forum users, AI generated forum posts, cats and dogs living together...I think we're all in BIG trouble...
-
I find the available build options (SO/IO/Incarnates), difficulty settings (notoriety and XP boosters) and variety of content (blue/red/gold and standard/incarnate/hardmode) is sufficient to give me at least a little challenge if I want it.
-
Sure, sure. But hypothetically, if a set was made called Eldritch Research (A Blast set, let's say) that had a couple of curses (you draw a Rune in the air), a couple of wand attacks, and some kind of rain maybe...would that be flexible enough to not require a particular origin? Is it literally just the NAME "Magic" that is the problem here?
-
I'm curious...we have several Gun powersets, and yet you can play those as magic origin. Why couldn't one have some kind of otherworldly powerset and then play it as tech origin? I mean, you can play Dark Miasma as tech origin, so I'm not really sure what the problem is. If you can use a Magic Assault Rifle, surely you can use a Technology Wand?
-
oh, interesting! And I can imagine I might have seen it but not realized it if I wasn't paying attention to my stealth status at the time...
-
There definitely hasn't been any interruption or breaking of LoS. The attack should either Hit and break Hide, or Miss and NOT break Hide. Instead, it is neither Hitting nor Missing, according to the log, and then doing no damage, but breaking Hide. But it happens very infrequently and not with any (so far) discernible pattern.
-
I've reported this before on different sets. This time it's a Street Justice/Ice Armor Stalker. I can't duplicate the bug, because I haven't been able to determine any sort of pattern. Once in a while Assassin's Strike will do no damage, but otherwise appear to have hit. The mob is notified, am I no longer in Hide, the Hit animation plays, but there is no damage and the combat log shows NEITHER a HIT nor a MISS. Just "You activated the Assasin's Strike power." and then me taking damage because the mobs now know I'm there. I've seen this same bug on other Stalkers with different primaries and secondaries.
