  1. This would break the market. Would cause prices to skyrocket across the board. This would hurt everyone. I can’t believe even after 50 pages of this people still can’t seem to get it through their heads that converters are not a problem. All they do is help reduce prices. Absolutely terrible suggestion.
  2. 1. Only thing I can think of is brutes received a damage cap nerf. They still can do insane damage though. Stalkers are absolutely amazing. Not sure how much you experienced of them in live, but I didn’t experience their later iteration. So coming to homecoming I was shocked at how good stalkers are. They have better crit potential even outside of hide than scrappers do. Each attack can build assassin focus, which at 3 stacks causes assassins strike to auto crit. Outside of hide assassins strike is a fast superior damage attack. Their ATOs give them very controlled crits and recharges build up. They are single target monsters. 2. I love bio armor. It’s a layered defense set. You can soft cap S/L/E/N defenses and have pretty good S/L resists. You also have amazing absorb, healing, Regen, and recovery. Icing on top is the adaptations that allow for better damage, recovery, or defense based on your needs. Most people default to offensive, which for scrappers add 31.25% constant damage bonus. It additionally causes a bit of toxic damage for each attack as well. Top tier set. It’s click heavy though. And I have a hard time fitting in a lot of procs and recharge when shooting for softcap defenses without using incarnates. Haven’t tried rad armor or savage melee. 3. Don’t know enough about procs to help with this. 4. I honestly try to cover all my bases with IO sets without relying on incarnates to cover holes. Other like to have more freedom in slotting by using incarnates to cover some holes. I default to musculature alpha and ageless destiny. Others can speak for the other slots. 5. Titan weapons is extremely strong. Top tier AoE and top tier single target. I don’t play it much because I’m not the biggest fan of the momentum mechanic. Basically, your first attack has a long cast (2.5 ish seconds I think). This then builds momentum and every other attack is insanely fast for about 5 seconds. Then you repeat. Titan weapons build up replacement causes builds momentum so you can start some mobs with momentum already built. Some attacks require momentum. I suspect the set will likely be nerfed at some point. 6. I will let other speak to IOs. Lastly, welcome back! Have fun in the city reborn.
  3. Well I wouldn’t say no, but I’ve finally been able to fund a few builds using converter magic. I just have so many alts that it dries up quickly unless I use budget version builds. Not that I’m complaining. Still better than SO builds 😉. Maybe one day I’ll be at the point of have more than I know what to do with.
  4. Pricey compared to what I’m used to spending on a toon. Coming from someone who never used IOs at all in live and have used SOs/common IOs for most of my time on homecoming.
  5. I think this is an awesome feature. Thanks a million to the devs. I find all the complaints about it somewhat comical. The two main ones I’ve seen have to do with powercreep and IOs. Should only use IOs camp - hard no. IOs should always be optional. Furthermore, this change has no bearing on IOs. It doesn’t make them any more or less available to use. It nearly makes SOs more manageable. Powercreep - if you think SOs are too powerful sub level 20, then don’t use them. SOs are already available from DFB so this doesn’t really change anything. It only makes keeping SOs updated more manageable. Dont have to visit stores as much - still have to fill new slots. I think time sinks such as traveling to vendors or to Wentworth and whatnot are super annoying. That said, I still use stores to vendor trash and buy insp. Sure I could do it with AH, but I’m used to doing it with vendors. People can still freely roam about and socialize on teams. This update does not fundamentally alter the game for those who choose to use IOs. This game does not fundamentally pwoercreep the game as SOs were already available. It only makes managing non IOs easier. It honestly should have been implemented long ago and I really appreciated the dev putting it together. People should stop dictating how other play the game. If you don’t like the change, then don’t use it.
  6. The game is as easy or as hard as you make it to be. This hardly constitutes as power creep. I personally hate the game sub level 20. It is a slog. So not everyone enjoys it. Having access to easier to manage SOs would boost the enjoyment of those levels enough that I may actually play them. I really don’t think SOs should be outright canned. People can and do play with SO only builds. I never touched IOs in all my time playing live. For the majority of my time on homecoming I played with SOs/common IOs. IOs can add a layer of enjoyment to the game, but it should remain completely optional.
  7. I think there is a good portion of people who do enhancement conversion that buy converters. If I just did a hami, market crash, and ITF sure I will use those merits to fund a conversion session. However, if I haven’t really done much in the way of warning merits I will just buy 300 converters on the auction house. Sure cuts into the profits a bit, but still efficient enough money maker and doesn’t require me to have done a task force beforehand. Either way is perfectly fine, but there are plenty who prefer to buy converters due to convenience. This enables sellers who don’t want to mess with using the converters to make easy money even if it’s not as much. For a long time I just sold converters as it was easy. It’s only recently that I’ve began buying/consuming converters instead of selling them. In response to the individual you quoted, I honestly don’t think this farming change will have any significant impact on converter prices. There is just so much demand and supply for converter already that even if a fair amount. Even if a lot farmers switch over to enhancement conversion I doubt it would bump up converter prices materially. However, since they would be supplying more high demand IOs than before the high demand IO prices may drop a bit.
  8. Smoke and Mirrors from oroborous flash back crystal is easy. Repeatable arc that gives 12 merits. Usually takes me 6 - 6.5 minutes per completion. Granted I run it on a stalker.
  9. People go through a lot more than 60 converters in a session. Try hundreds at a minimum. This would cause prices to sky rocket. It would also eliminate an income method that many use merits to converters to cash and thus devalue merits. This would only hurt everyone.
  10. Words cannot sufficiently describe how bad this idea is. Converters do not exploit anything. They literally take trash items and turn them into valuable items. They enable limitless supply and thus reduce prices on all of the high demand items. Making converters bound to characters would do nothing good. Conversely they would hurt the market and anyone who used the auction house at all. This would result in: IO prices increasing across the board. Hurts anyone who wants to kit out a character in IOs. Merits being devalued as people can no longer convert them to quick stable cash via selling converters. Hurts people who enjoy running task forces, story arcs, trials, etc. So, if your goal is to hurt the majority of the population of the game, cause prices to skyrocket, and generally degrade the game, then this would be a good choice. However, if you actually wanted to help the player base and the market, then this idea is just terrible. After 40+ pages it’s painfully clear that people do not understand the market or converters.
  11. This would only serve to make things more expensive as less people would do the conversion routine. Converters are not a problem whatsoever. They only help the market. The devs have even stated that they don’t want to discourage conversion as it is very helpful to the market. There is nothing bad about converters whatsoever. Discouraging conversion would only serve to increase prices, which is counterintuitive to the devs goals.
  12. Except marketeers are also supplying high demand items. They may not be generating recipes/IOs, but they are turning trash recipes into desirable IOs. They do this without adding more influence into the economy. This has been stated many times. This has even been stated by the devs.
  13. The way the market works price gouging really isnt a thing. Due to converters, recipe fungibility, and price caps flippers really can’t gouge prices without the risk of getting undercut and losing the fee and having to relist at a lower price. If people try to super low ball prices by putting ina ridiculously low sell price, then they might actually sell it at a super low price. If people put in reasonable sell prices that also reduces chances for flipping. I would bet that a huge portion of “playing the market” is buying level 31-41 cheap recipes, crafting them, and then converting to a popular IO. This is not gouging but rather taking a crap item and turning it into something valuable. This is very good for the in game economy and prevents price gouging. Unlike farming, IO conversion doesn’t generate influence, but rather transfers it. Has basically no entry barrier, is easy, and is good for the in game economy. Farming is still a good thing especially for increasing goods, but it also generates tons of new influence. The new influence is what the devs are trying to curtail. Now that I have a geared farmer, I can still easily earn 100m a day with casual farming while power leveling alts. I farm and use the market. I farm to power level my alts. Any influence/drops I get is incidental. I use the market to fund the alts. I don’t flip at all. I do IO conversion. It is faster, easier, more accessible, and better for the in game economy than farming.
  14. Yep. Bio armor has 3 adaptations, and staff has 3 forms. You are free to do any combination of the forms and adaptations depending on the situation. It is very nice to adapt to the situation. On my staff/bio brute I default to offensive/form of the body (damage), but will switch as the situation calls for it.
  15. Playing the market is not an exploit. Buying low and selling high is a function of the market. If people are willing to fill the low bids and willing to pay the selling price it is working as intended.
  16. Im just piggy backing off your comment to express a few thoughts. While I do whole heartedly think that a capitalist economy is better than a socialist economy, you are correct that even markets dubbed “free markets” have many regulations in place to control the economy to some degree. The degree to how much governmental intervention is good has been hotly debated for a long time and will continue to be. But I think we can all agree that regulations are a thing in real world economies whether they are socialist or not. In response to the individual you quoted, I don’t think we can apply capitalist vs socialist paradigms to this game because it has something that no real world economy has - limitless supply, fungible goods, and magic (converters).
  17. Why does the market need scarcity? Who would that help? What purpose would it serve other to increase prices? A big no from me. The devs have also stated they don’t want to change converters because that would hurt market by driving up prices.
  18. Welcome back! The 1000 character slots is one of the things that excited me the most coming back as I have always been a major altoholic. Have fun getting back into the game!
  19. As far as I’m aware, the devs only seeded salvage. So seeding has nothing to do with there being more of one type of LOTG IO than another in the set. Demand drives that. That said, market seeding salvage was a good thing the devs did.
  20. Honestly I’d be surprised if enough people quit to even be noticeable. People like to express outrage on the internet. These forums are no exception. I’d bet that the mass majority of disgruntled players will cool off, accept it, and continue playing. A few might quit, but I highly doubt enough to make an impact.
  21. I actually also have a ma/bio scrapper that is softcapped to all types except Psionic. It is fairly pricey though. By far the most expensive of all my builds coming in at about 400m since I used some winter IOs. I also have dark melee/shield and war mace/shield scrappers that are over soft cap for each position and have 80% global recharge before hasten. These came in at about 250 - 300m. It’s easier to start building in recharge with shield than bio. However, Bio has much better layered defenses with resists and especially absorb/healing. Both have nice +damage boosts. I honestly haven’t used any other secondary for scrappers besides those two.
  22. I doubt many marketeers are generally selling the crap IOs. If anything they are buying them making them more valuable, when they would otherwise be vendor trash because people generally wouldn’t slot them. They are more likely selling the more sought after items because they are worth more. Converters brings value to otherwise basically valueless recipes. And they drastically reduce the cost of the highly sought after items. There really isn’t a downside to them. I’d be fine with lowering the merit cost of purples/ATOs. That wouldn’t eliminate the need for converters to keep market prices on non purple/ATO IO down though.
  23. Converters definitely are not a problem. They are one of, if not the, greatest things about the market. They enable limitless supply which keeps prices down, which is good for everyone. They are also basically a gold standard for the market keeping everything in check. They are an incredibly easy source of cash for people who don’t want to convert. They are an even better source for people that do. Converters are the best thing that happened to the market along with recipe fungibility.
  24. It’s not even the lowest barrier to entry. The lowest barrier to entry is probably turning merits into converters and selling those on the market. Using converters to convert enhancements to sell also has a lower entry barrier - basically non-existent entry barrier. It also happens to earn more than farming anyway. Honestly I think farming has one of the highest barriers to entry for earning influence.
