Not exactly. I already stated twice that the emphasis is on the powersets and not the archetype. There is a difference. At least I think there is. I do appreciate you taking the time to respond and share your opinion though. It’s appreciated 🙂.

It is no more niche than some of the other subforums. This sort of discussion is pretty common. It is just buried in the various archetype forums mostly, and even sometimes in general discussion. It may have a somewhat narrow usage, but it fosters a use that many people seem to post about in various areas. I can see that the top level archetypes forum does have some limited amount of that going on, but that doesn’t have a lot traction. Most of the discussion happens within the various archetype subforums and is thus not consolidated. It makes more sense to discuss differences between archetypes on that top level than the differences between powersets as the emphasis is on the archetype. A dedicated sub forum for powersets would have the emphasis on powerset discussion.

I don’t think capitalists are crazy. I am also a capitalist. I’m all about the free market in the real world. However, in a game I am all about relaxation. I would guess many are like minded. Therefore, I am happy that a lot of the stress in the in game economy has been taken away. A relaxed market is possible in a game because there can be such thing as limitless supply. The same can’t be said of the real world.

Anyone have the name Saiko on torchbearer or excelsior, and not married to it? I’d like to start having a presence on those servers, but would like my main name if possible.

Ugh toilet paper. The drop rate needs to increase on that.

This is something I’ve thought about for a while. I know this could clutter up the forums, so perhaps that is why it’s not done, but figured I’d through this out there anyway. I think it would be nice to have powerset subforums. Due to the sheer number of powersets I think they could be broken out by types: Melee Range Support Control Defensive These categories would cover most of the the powersets. I know there are some other types, but I think they are usually pretty unique (assault, pets, etc). The other ones could always be added too. The reason I would like these is because sometimes I want to try a certain powersets, say ninjistu, but I’m not sure which archetype to play it on. I could go to the defensive subforum and post a thread asking people opinions on the secondary in relation to all archetypes that can take it. I know we can already do this to some extent by looking at the archetype subforums, but it would be easier and more focused. Instead of looking at stalker, scrapper, sentinel, etc I could just look under the Defensive powerset subforum. I think it could foster some good discussions on how powersets perform across archetypes and in general as the focus would be on the powerset itself instead of the archetype.

Why would someone want to stop enhancement conversion? I honestly can’t see any downside to the process. People can make money off it - check. Market is flooded with popular enhancements keeping prices down - check. People can convert unwanted enhancements into ones they want to keep - check. People can convert to create an otherwise zero supply IO - check. People have a steady merit to inf conversion through selling converters - check. Merit usefulness is super high in large part due to demand for enhancement converters. So more task forces are ran - check. There is honestly only good things coming from enhancement conversion. I don’t doubt someone might try to stop it, but why?
-
No worries. I probably could have used a better example. Was just a kidding about that anyway haha.

Thank you is an understatement for shameless posting my global for free inf. I will use it wisely and pay it forward. Now if only people were giving away Pythons...

You don’t know how tempted I am by this haha.

My goodness that is going to net you a huge loss. Wish I had that sort of inf to be so philanthropic.

Very true. I was just pointing out the flipping isnt 100% evil even if it looks so on the surface. But you are right, with converters, tickets, and whatnot normal economics and market functions go out the window. Still I do think one constant remains. Time. People are just willing to pay for time. Even with all other ways of getting things, people value time. Hence, in almost all cases people are willing to pay more to have it now. Even when there are limitless resources.
-
Very true. If I could buy a Taurus and use converter shenanigans to get a Python, then I wouldn’t be playing games I’d be on the range. Still I do think that the market value is less than seeded value for the most part. But it has been going up, as the topic of this thread proves, so maybe the seeded value will become the actual market value.
-
I completely understand where you are coming from. I truly do understand that point of view. That said, I also completely understand the other point of view. When you really think about it, time is probably one of the most valuable resources we have. And time is one of the best products on the market. It is finite and ever in demand. I just posted my 2020 Python example. In my example, the flipper truly is selling time. It’s not a gift by any stretch of the imagination. It is a product. They are selling time as opposed to the 2020 Python. If I wanted to buy one first hand I’ll likely have to wait a year perhaps more. Or I can buy one second hand for $250-500 more. In that regard, the flipper is really just selling me time. It’s the same concept of interest. Money now is worth more than money later. That’s why when we want something now it is a higher price. Now, where I can see your point is the fact that if the flipper hasn’t bought that Python in the first place it would still have been on the market at 1500 and I might have been able to pick it up for that price. While technically true (and where I say it is a slightly crummy practice), the fact is, even without flippers, some items have enough demand that supply still can’t fill it. In this situation, even if every unit was bought at the MSRP, I still have small chance of getting one and thus have to wait. For example: 100 pythons made 1000 people want one - me included 100 people buy at MSRP - not including me because I’m not fast enough. I must now wait a long time (likely a year) before I can get one. Now let’s say 50 of those people resell their unit for a price premium of 250. I now have an option. I can wait for supply to catch up and buy at MSRP. Or I can pay the flipper 250 to get it now. In this case, the flipper most certainly gave me the option (albeit at a price) of time. If all 100 of the people who bought at MSRP were enthusiasts and keep it, then I no longer have the option of time. And even if those 50 flippers didn’t get to it first, I’d still have to race 900 people to get one at MSRP. So, long story short, flippers do indeed give the people an option of time. However, it is not a gift as there is almost always a price premium since they are selling time. Not giving it.

It’s only been about a week of me actively doing this, and I know it doesn’t make a dent, but I have been selling all my white and yellow salvage on the auction house for 1inf. I used to just vendor it, but I want to put as much low cost supply in as I can.
-
I don’t understand how turning off the market seed is a good thing for anyone. It sets a maximum price for salvage so things don’t get out of hand. I think it was a brilliant solution along with what they did with bundling recipes (for use with the conversion routine) to avoid outrageous market prices that seem to plague every game economy.
-
I would say the seeded price is more like MSRP than true market value. More often than not market value is less than MSRP, but still in the same realm. Though in some cases market value quickly rises above MSRP. The example that comes to my mind is the new Colt Python 2020. MSRP is 1500. Most of the stores offered it at MSRP (for the short window before they got back ordered to hell) as they knew they would easily be able to get that much for it. Though in time, when manufacturing begins to fill the huge over demand I would guess that the market value will settle a little below MSRP. I can kind of see where Sinister is coming from. In my Python example, I see second hand prices of the 2020 Python (not originals) going for 1700-2000 last time I checked because people are willing to pay to get it now. While I do think it’s a little crummy to buy something so high demand if you don’t actually want to keep it to only sell it for more, it is still a function of a free market. The flipper got the profit they wanted. The eager enthusiast got it now. Where my analogy falls apart is the going above MSRP. If Colt could produce enough of the 2020 Pythons from the get go nobody would be able to flip them as the ceiling would be set at 1500. That’s kind of what the seeded market is doing. They set an absolute ceiling and provided enough supply to prevent going over that. In either case though, when demand settles (with both yellow salvage and the new Pythons) I expect the prevailing market price to be below the ceiling.

That build looks great. Just looks pretty expensive. I was trying to make mine slightly more budget friendly. But I love my stalker so maybe I will bite the bullet, farm some cash, and take the plunge. It was either gonna be ninja blade/bio or StJ/bio. StJ might be stronger, but ninja blade definitely has style.
-
My favorite ones by far are the stalker ATOs. Good bonuses and excellent procs. They also truly fit the flavor of the archetype.
-
I fully admit that I’m impatient, but I have generally been paying 50-100k in the last few days to get the “buy it now” price. Even just 2-3 weeks ago it 5k. I have 15k bids that go unfilled for well over an hour. Which sucks when I see that last 5 going for 12k. Yet I bid 15k or even 25k and it doesn’t get filled. So I just resort to 50-100k.

Sounds like dark/sonic is the winner! I’ll probably start making the toon sometime next week. Still working on my corruptor at the moment. Thanks!

Hello Stalkers! I just recently started using MIDs and build planning. I have developed the following build for a Ninja Blade/Bio/Soul stalker. Not sure if it is similar to other builds that may already have been posted as I honestly didn't check. My goal was to soft cap S/L/E, have decent S/L resists, and have heal/aborb/regen take care of the rest. I achieved those goals and have a moderate amount of recharge built in. I also happened softcap negative and AOE and almost softcapped fire/cold as a by product of the slotting. Build has no purples, but does have both ATO sets. I took shadow meld mainly as a LOTG mule not to meet defense softcaps. Let me know what you guys think. This is in offensive adaptation. Don't have any incarnates in the build at the moment. Hasten is on (63.8% recharge without hasten). Edit: Darn, I just realized a major flaw in the build. I had hide turned on with the above numbers and wasn't considering the suppressed defense when in combat. Here are the real numbers: A good 6% short on S/L and 4% on energy. On teams this will likely be shored up, but I will have to go back to the drawing board to see how I can make up the remaining amounts.

I know there are several similar threads about this, but wanted to see if I could get some more specific advice by giving more background. A little background. I’ve been branching out lately in my altitis. I began just playing brutes and scrappers. Then added in stalkers and tankers. Branches over to blasters. Just in the last two weeks added in a corruptor. In each of these I have always focused on offense. In the case of the corruptor, I still focus on offense, but like the fact that I can do so while helping out the team. For my corruptor I rolled fire/kin as it seemed the no brained for both personal and team offense. Now my sights are set on Defenders. Again I like to be an offensive powerhouse, whether personally or more importantly as a team. I’ve been reading through the defender forums and there seems to be a consensus that sonic is the best secondary to amplify personal and team offense. So I figure I will go sonic secondary. I’m having trouble deciding on a primary though. A natural choice seems to be to choose kinetics. I’m not opposed to this, but I don’t want to run into a situation where I always play the fire/kin corr over the kin/sonic fender, or visa versa. Is kin/sonic just too fun to not do? Other primary contenders for offensive support seem to consistently mention rad and cold. I am somewhat leaning toward rad based on what I’ve read, but wanted to consult all you defenders. Basically, I want my defender to make the team an offensive powerhouse, and hopefully contribute decently personally as well. Will I regret not taking kin as the primary? Will rad fulfill my goals? Should I choose a different primary based on the background I provided? Also, I’m interested in leaning into the support role a bit more on the defender, but still my primary wish is to be boost the teams offense. Lastly, builds are always appreciated. Even if I don’t use them exactly I often use them as a base to tweak. Usually to make them cheaper at the cost of some optimization.
