Can't happen to me, no enough inf to be able too lace bifs an order of magnitude too high. And I have only been able to afford 3 purples (IOs, not sets) so far. Maybe you can find solace in that.

I have yet to make a profit on a super pack. Even on my last try where I had 2 ATOs, One was a defender one that sells for 50K and one was a MM one that I hope to sell for 9 millions. Even figuring out a handful of unslotters (50k each) I will not make my money back after market fees I've only tried 3 times but the other were even worse return on investment.

The reason I'd rather avoid plant is because I already have a plant dominator going. Arrowroot was my plant/TA back in the day. I'm going to give dark/storm a try and see where it goes. I'm not shy about rerolling later if I fell like it.

Yeah planning on having a hooded version and a bare torso version.

Dark/Storm "When you like Pets but don't want to play a MM"
Papaschtroumpf replied to Tacheyon's topic in Controller
Disclaimer: I have never played a Dark controller Remember the P2W Procs stop working at or after lvl20. The main problem with Arcane Bolt is that it is 2.7(?) second animation. That's a lot of time not doing something else. I'd never give up Hasten for it, Hasten allows you use your powers more often so more damage (and control, etc...) over time. I see Arcane Bolt as a way to get to Rune of Protection. You already have 2 P2W ranged attacks, blackwand and Nemesis staff to hel you early in the game. -

Send me a set of winter "purple" Os. I know it's just a cratch in your cash, but I'm willing to do my part to help! Appreciate it, thanks! ;+) -
I'm making a Darth Maul inspired character and I could have sworn there was a crown of short horns costume element, but all I find are a crown of large horns, or proper size brow spikes that are not high enough and do no go around the head. Am I missing what I recall? If so, the best choices are probably the "thorn" horns and the brow spikes.

Thanks all, looks like I have tried all the best sets already because they were on. I remember my plants/trick arrow too now and it was decent even before I got into IO sets and soloed well if I remember right I may still roll a Dark just because I've never tried it. Maybe Dark/Storm because obenjouvthe busy gameplay of storm and with IOs it should be easy to cap both rang and AoE defense. I'll look at the sets closer in Mids. Thanks again for all the input. Fire/rad is fun I also ran that one back in the day, but since I'm currently working on an ice/rad corruptor AV killer I will delay rad on a controller. I might also roll a Plant/Ill at some point.

Dark/Storm "When you like Pets but don't want to play a MM"
Papaschtroumpf replied to Tacheyon's topic in Controller
You can talk to the gull to go red side, so it's really quite painless. It's one of the concepts I'm toying with so subscribing to this thread. -
I played a lot of controllers back on Live. My fire/kin was my first 50, I also had an ill/rad, a fire storm (so much fun) and while those were awesome I don't know that I want to repeat them. I just refilled my fire/dark corruptor as a fire/time so I think don't want the /time secondary again as good as it seems to be. I also gave a plant dominator so i think it's out for a controller. I remember not liking my stone controller but can't quite remember why. Not enough damage? I just tried Elec control and it feels meh although I don't take it to 32 yet. What are great new combos with fun control and lots of damage? I love fire/storm because of its frantic pace yet how carefully you had to be, especially in a team, to play well with others. If I reroll my dominator, what goes well with plants on a controller? Dark/Storm? Dark/Dark? Animal/Nature? What's the best of the newer secondaries?

I've teamed randomly with some dual pistol players mostly in the 20s and possibly 30s and honestly didn't see much there. the animations are over the top, like "flailing AoE) but I suppose just like Staff's animation a matter of personal preference. I don't think I've played with a higher level dual pistol. Is it because the set is lackluster beyond the original excitement?
-
Or gobble up purple inspirations, if they can't hit you they can't mezz you. Once you get to 50, get the T4 of Clarion Destiny that provides 120s of mezz protection and recharges in 120s. It says the mezz protection weakens over time but it is so high at the beginning (something like 20), that you're still good at the end.

Thanks Flea, I won't access to computer to load it into Pine's for a week as I'm on vacation "off the grid" except for the occasional cell phone data connection, it'll likely be a bit before I fully digest your suggestion. Can a Hero corruptor take Mace MaStery? Do I need to switch sides and go run the Black Scorpion arc? Not that it would be a big deal, something new to try.
-
Fire has no secondary debuf when ice slows them, not just when running but recharge too, so they hit you less often. If you're teamed and others take care of aggro and debuffs, etc... you don't care as Fire (I have a fire corruptor too) but I suspect this build will solo better than my fire corruptor, although it may be a matter of x8+0 vs x2/4+4 notoriety setting. Ice gets a bad rep but I think it is a very good set base on my current (admittedly limited) experience. I got a big bored with my Fire/Dark corruptor in the 30s. It felt like tarpatch, Rain Of Fire, rinse repeat, whcih is why I decied to roll a more single target/EB/AV focused build.
-
Hey Flea, remember you too! I usually try to come up with a build that I can start using while leveling. I don't use 2xXP, I already have 2 50s so I'm not so much in a hurry to get there and I don't like it when people are in their 30s and still not using enhancements at all (not even SOs). For my scrapper I bought attuned enhancements on the way up to 50 so I felt I was getting the most for my level n the way to 50. even when examplaring for TFs. etc... In fact examplaring is important to me on my 50s, I do a lot of TFs, playing with my sons who have such altitis they can't seem to get past the 30s, etc... So I'm looking at a no-purples build that will serve both leveling up and for some time at 50 and learn what I would like to change and improve in my "forever build" in the 50s that then can include purples and the like. I do like the idea of buying ATOs while leveling and then deciding if I want to catalyze them while at 50 (generally the answer is yes) My corruptor is an ICE/RAD. I'm going for mostly single target focus and would like to be able to solo AVs at some point, or at least really help teams with AVs otherwise. So while I love to team and rad has some team firendly stuff, it's not my primary focus. I focused on speed for this build, I want Perma-AM (perma Hasten would be nice too), with enough recovery to go with it). This build alternates between Rune of Protection and later Force of Nature for resistance and Mezz protection (once I 50 I may use Hybrid and Clarion to get similar results). I'd like to add more ranged def, this is a hoverer build so I intend to avoid melee as I can. This is my current work in progress. Powers taken trying to be examplar friendly, ignore the actual slot levels, I haven't optimized that yet, but the idea will be tp prioritize full +rechg out of sets. I do have another thread on this build but fell free to comment on this one and a "forever 50" build that uses purples and other specialty enhancements Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 2.22 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Yes remember that denying a type of inspiration doesn't mean you get something else instead, when the RNG decides you should get an awaken and you denied it you get nothing. Still useful to help limit the combining options, awakens drop less often in my experience so you rarely have 3 handy to combine. You can also limit your drops to medium and large inspirations, again helping to get more of the same. After a certain level you get enough mediums and large you don't need the smalls.

Yeah good point on mezz protection until perma Clarion. My corruptor is a hero, can I still take Soul Mastery and do I have to run the corresponding patron arc or is it available to anyone? I like the idea of having a pet and the spider has additional -regen I believe. Edit: looks like you get a fortunata let, not a spider. I was thinking power Mastery Force of Nature is better since it resist all types of damage? And mezz protect? My current plan would have Rune and Protection and Force of Nature by the mid-fourties and possibly take the Hybrid version if I don't go for the Assault path. Sounds like if I can get some def from set bonuses it would be a good complement whereas more resist might do double duty with RoP and FoN.
-
Thanks! That ice/kin guide does highlight the aspect I like about Ice, the fast animation, slow effect and possibly less resisted damage type, and of course holds :)
-
For set bonuses I'm goin with +rchg as my primary goal, but I'm not sure if I should try and go for defense or resist. We have a relatively low HP so I think resist may make more sense? Being /rad I also don't have much defense built into the secondary, at least not directly, but debuffs act like pseudo defense (reduces for ToHit) and pseudo resist (-dmage) but make it hard to work out the numbers in Pine
-
Yes as long as the IO can exist at lvl10. Some IOs don't start till lvl30 or 30 so you can't slot those till 17 or 27, even if rheyr attuned.
-
Talking to myself in this thread. Oh well might be worth documenting the thought process. I just realized that Acrane Bolt had over a 2s activation. That's definitely a drawback. I'm going to have to try it in person and decide. I like the idea of a other hold and KB for mitigation but Frost Breath is not a bad power and if the Arcane Bolt animation bugs me I may take it back again.

Sorry for the typoes above, posting from my phone. I should have mentioned that the level enhancements are placed above are "random" while I work with the build. The orders of powers taken is real though. I took Enervating Field later than in the previous build. It's an endurance hog and it's easier to use once you have access to SOs or higher regular IOs. I also need to check if I broke the "rule of 5" for bonuses sets. I forgot to check.
-
OK, here is the next installment of my build plan (remember I'm still at 22, working on a scrapper at the moment) The goal was to get AM perma, and at 50 it's ready 5s before it has expired (I don't knows if AM from the same caster stacks, I'm not goingto count on it). Most of my +Rchg his early in the build so I think you are there or close to it in the 30s Hasten is one second off perma Between the set bonuses and AM recovery and regen are about 240% but I probably need to refine things around to either focus on def or resist to give the regen time to work. The Epic pool choice is tentative, I do like the idea of boosting damage with power RoPand FoN could alternate with Rune of Protection (instead of in addition to the Hybrid resit). I like the idea of PBU in addition to Aim to boost my damage and with so much recharge it's available often. I originally intended to take Temp Invul but I had not realized it was S/L only. Grant Invis is more a mule for LoTG but it can still be useful, althoguh I wish I could take another pool and take combat jump instead. it can still slot an LoTG but makes Hover better (that's not intuitive). I have quite a bit of accuracy both in powers and bonuses. Maybe it's too much with my /rad debuf? On the other hand want to eat purple foes for breakfast. Picked up some movement speed increase along the way, useful for faster hover. If I need a slot somewhere once I reach 50 I might slot RI with 3 Enzyme Hami-Os I'm happy with it on paper as a place to start. Fell free to let me know if you see anything wrong or have idead on how to improve. The focus really was on perma AM with high resit through RoP and FoN I may try and give it a shot at getting a build with highish defense, especially range and AoE since I should be table to evade a lot baddies. The ATO have nices bonsues and I made it a havit to pick them up on my builds, even thogh I shy away from purples. Universal Damage Overwhelming Force are easy to get right now, but I didn't think it would benefit this build. I haven't been able to find a guide, either here or in the blaster section, and would like to see what other people think of the set and are doing with it. I think it's slightly under par on the damage side although I haven't ran the numbers, but I think its debuffs can really help survivability when paired with the right defensive secondary (I went Ice/rad)

While I love to team, this is my one character I want to be able to solo, and some most of my other characters tend to be AoE friendly and solo 8x I want something different and hopefully be able to solo AVs Not that it won't be team friendly, who should say no to perma AV and neutered mobs?
