Thanks Guys/Gals, I'll consider aiming for better ranged defense with another slot in Confuse & the Dom ATO. 10% is 10%! The reason for taking Cross Punch was for some more AoE damage. I know it isn't great but it's better than nothing? I need some more info about snipes! Won't they only fire quickly if I attain some unreasonable high % of ToHit?

MBRE, Thanks for the response! 1. It was my understanding that we could only slot 1 Max HP IO? Are we allowed to slot more than one like a LOTG?!! If so, that'd be amazing. 2. When you say more damage, do you mean an individual power or IO bonuses? 3. Perma Dom or bust as far as I'm concerned. 4. I have have that IO slotted in Tough. 5. The Performance Shift gives the +End Proc, a run/jump speed boost and more +HP! I think it has the superior bonuses. 6. Why drop the Hamis? Are the bad? I thought the give the best stats 33% to acc/damage 7. I really, really love the Stealth IO on the soft archetypes. It allows me to get safely into position without aggro! 8. I'd really like to keep Hasten & Power Boost with 2 IOs for recharge. They're both so critical to the build. 9. You're probably right about this. I just hate KB with a passion and they'll be times I don't or won't have Domination up.

Here's the thing. I'm suffering from the nigh insatiable urge to roll up a Melee-Centric Dominator. I yearn for the biggest, baddest melee attacks in which to smash all those mezzed before me. I completely understand this will likely result in a gimped//sub-par build that underperforms in both it's archetype roll and from a #'s stand point. This still doesn't change the fact that I'm choosing to go down this path of melee tomfoolery. This is my first stab at it and I'd really like the community's feed back. I've attempting something moderately similar recently with a Fire/Stone/Fire build with moderate/middling success. While an absolute blast to play, it relies on a titanic amount of endurance reduction, blue candies and frequent pauses in action to prevent complete endurance drain. A true endurance fiend if ever there was one. The quick animating attacks of stone, coupled with Hot Feet, 170% Global Recharge and combat toggles give me little more than one group of mobs before becoming winded. My hope with this newer iteration is that Bone Smasher > TF > ET chain will be a far, far slower attack chain and therefore easier on the ole blue bar. Conductive Aura should also help mitigate any and all endurance problems (I'm guessing?) Either way, the thought of smashing an even level, non-resistant mob for 700 damage with ET is almost worth any sacrifice? Anyway, here's my first build plan. Ideally, I'd like to get Hasten perma'd do I might replace the slotting in my Single Target Hold with Basilisk's Gaze and do the same with my AoE Hold as well for an additional 15% recharge. I'd also consider taking slots out of my AoE Immb and 5-slotting a ranged attack with apoc for another 10%? Let me know. Thanks y'all. EDIT: Whoops...forgot to add the build... I think it could work well enough. I'd probably try to leverage the Sleeps to get up close and plat Time Bomb + Trip Mines. In groups, this might prove too slow/difficult. I think it'd be a fine solo'er tho.

Derf... looking at the ATOs for Dominators it would seem they want us at Range. The set bonuses are all geared towards it. I guess ill aim for the softcap and then waltz into melee after my CC and smack them with our league leading melee damage modifiers. -
Just a quick nitpick... Dark Consumption is a +End tool. It doesn't however provide -End on mobs.

Well, I've got an Ice/Fire Armor and a Mace/Shield but never had I paired the two. Ice Melee really paired well with Fire Armor, mostly due in part to Ice Patch which helped mitigate a lot of damage. Fire Armor is pretty gimped outside of AE until you invest heavily into some IOs. I think Shield would also really welcome the mitigation Ice Melee provides until it can get its Def #'s over 30%. In the late game, Ice gets a nice PBAoE attack that would be awesome with Shield +DMG. I say give it a go. There's some synergy there and an option in the Costume Creator for an Ice Shield.

Anyone have a build template for me to see? I've got a Level 33 Elec/Psi and, well, I'm feeling more than a little lost. I love the sleep and Coductive Aura but I don't know if I feel more effective at range with Psy Scream or up close with Telekinetic Thrust & Mind Probe + Drain Psyche. How do am I supposed to play a Dominator? -

Energy has Entropic Aura that also increases +Recharge and is dependent on the # of mobs surrounding you as well.

Oddly enough, the modern communist is either a latte-sipping, middle class, diminutive caucasian female or a diminutive, unemployed bespectacled male. Oh, how the times have changed. That being said, my Tech oriented relic of the Cold War is a Giant Cybernetic, Titan-Weapon wielding Electric Armor Brute. Ivan always seemed fond of the "bigger is better" approach to their hardware.

I don't have the stats to back this up but I have no doubt that my 6-Slotted Cross Punch with the FF +Recharge Proc has been a clear boon to my farm time. It's arc is wide enough to hit the max # of mobs and the proc fires off what feels like 70-80% of the time. It's up every 3.34 seconds. Anyone else here given it a shot it their builds?

I think Energy Absorption will see me through the worst of it. According to mids, it'll be up every 30 seconds or so. Remains to be seen I suppose as I've yet to try it out. Thanks for the feedback.

As the eponymous title might imply; I've recently been intrigued with the construction of a -DMG Tanker. This naturally has steered me towards the above mentioned powerset combination of ICE (Chilling Embrace), Kinetic Melee (Power Siphon) and Soul Master (Darkest Night). Assuming no DeBuff resistance on any particular mob and according to Mid's Hero Designer, I could potentially lessen a mobs damage capabilities by upwards of 50%. My intention with the build was only play PvE content in a team environment where I would be the off or secondary meat shield in most instances. I typically enjoy the "Scranking" play style that allows me to soak some alphas, while also punching mobs in the face. I love to run story arcs, TFs, Trials and the like. Not interested in farming. Maybe consider Kinetic Melee! -Dmg from attacks stack with the -Dmg from Chilling Embrace and even Darkest Night from the Soul Mastery Patron Pool. KM's pom-poms can also be colored to look...Icy.

Has anyone considered paring Ice Armor with Kinetic Melee for stacking -DMG? Chilling Embrace + KM attacks and the option of picking up Darkest Night from the Soul Mastery Patron Pool could stack up something in the ballpark of -50% damage on a single target and around -28% on surrounding mobs? That's gotta be some decent mitigation?

All four are good but it's my personal belief that DM/ELEC is the best possible paring.

This doesn't sound strange at all! In fact, DM/SD are a perfect pairing as far as I'm concerned.

I took both Shadow Maul and Cross Punch (along with boxing and kick) on my DM/SD Scrapper. I've found both to be essential for AoE purposes (I've also taken Spring Attack and obviously Shield Charge as well). While Shadow Maul can be a PITA to line up and the animation time is rather alarming; when paired with AAO and Soul Drain, it'll typically hit 3 non-DA mobs for over 400 damage each. That's usually 1200 total damage over 3 mobs in under 3 seconds (and that's assuming no crits). It'll also absolutely wreck Rikti mobs if you find yourself in the RWZ with any regularity. And as mentioned by a poster above previously, the FF Proc in Cross Punch is borderline Footstomp levels of good. Just logging in now to test Cross punch on even level 50 mobs in AE ComicCon S/L Farm. CP hits for 168 damage (non-crit) 5 slotted Hetacomb (no proc) SINGLE Target Shadow Maul hit for 240 w/5 slooted Hetacomb (no proc, no crit) Single Target Edit: CP is 5 slotted with Armegeddon
