The Banished Batgirl Mystery
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Maybe I'm just too practical or lack "vision", but a stock-change like that would have me thinking low-budget/high-payoff films for the next couple of years rather than dice-rolling huge amounts on potentially iffy blockbusters in hopes of gi-normously huge payouts. Gunn's selection is a surprise to me. Considering all the ferocity surrounding his past events, his firing, and his re-hiring, I'd have thought they'd want to see how GotG3 was received before offering. I guess this means that with the 4-year exclusivity for DC, all the fuss for bringing him back to GTOG leads to just a swan song, and others will helm it going forward, assuming the actors stick around. -
Okay, I've known for some time that Quantumania would have a lot to do with...what else?...the quantum realm, and that HE would be in the movie (no not Mephisto). But this trailer went off in a hugely different direction than I was thinking. I suppose I should mention up front that I've not seen every work in Phase 4 of the MCU, so there may be details in the overall story arc of the MCU of which I'm not currently aware. Responses in hidden field in orange. Some of my own thoughts:

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Very late to the party as I was budgeting the internet video channels until Andor was released. I'm caught up now, but won't go into one of my legendary monologues since I'm so late. I'll simply say Loved Episode 8 and thrilled to see the guest star. Not quite as much episode 9, but it was so campy trippy that I willingly rank it the second best episode. Was really hoping for more of a threat from the Wrecking Crew. I realize they're usually portrayed as buffoonish, muscle-brained thugs, but these guys felt like trick-or-treaters swinging glow-sticks. Didn't see a comment, but did anyone else pick up on how much Leapfrog and his whole setup resembled the 1966 Batman series villains, their teams, and their lairs? I watched a lot of reactors on YouTube and none of them appeared to comment on it. Great fun. Luke Jacobson is no Edna Mode. I've always thought DD and Electra should be the couple onscreen, but this is the MCU, a similar but different universe, and I'm now rooting for the DD/SH teamup as a lasting thing. Sadly the West Coast/East Coast existence practically spells failure in the relationship. A very different personality to Blonsky but I'm liking it, probably because I love just about everything Tim Roth does. I'm hoping YouTube speculators are correct and that we'll see him teaming up with the Thunderbolts when that day comes. It's high time they stopped dropping Wong into this movie or that series and gave him his own staring role. Okay, that was a baby monologue, I'll admit. -
Star Wars: Andor on D+

I'd not read the newer books. That's very interesting, and surprisingly a different feel from the Grand Admiral Smurf of Rebels. Thanks for posting that. -

Jodhpurs survive in Star Wars precisely because they do reflect the WWII Nazi look. (Sweeps Gen. Patton behind the curtain. Nothing to see here, move on, move on...) And regarding Mr. Vee's comment, the conditions here are top-level administrators in dress uniforms. It is very likely any days they had as spies are over. ISB spies would be granted civilian attire or whatever is needed for the job. What would be interesting to see is a work uniform. Whites for formal, blue or camo for work, just like the US Navy. Swapping over to my traditional orange. (I need something different. Can they whip up a frosted raspberry?) -
Not to mention that opening a computer/pulling apart a laptop without an A+ certification can void any remaining warranty on some computers. I've seen several HPs in the workplace that were lacking in thermal paste. Not sure why that is. You'd think the initial application would be measured and delivered by machine. Not a fan, personally of HPs nor of Dells. I've met too many of them.

Why was Incandescent selected over other possibilities? Just curious. My first thought would have been to move Back Alley Brawler to that spot.

Andor Episode 7 - back to building intrigue, and a surprise cameo (no, not the big guy, the other one) -
probably also caused severe shortages for fish and chip shops and animal rescue societies.

His Get-up-and-go has Got-up-and-went? Odd. Suddenly I have an hankering for a hunk of cheese.

This thread's still going? wow. Not bad. could use another 8 gig RAM (I read it can upgrade to at least 32 GB, that's good), GDDR6 is good, though 4 GB graphics is going to gimp you on the number of possible games, not terribly, but many you'll have to play on the lower settings (just got over a 3GB graphics myself, and was tired of how many rejections I had on Can You Run It.) 6GB RAM opens up the field. Still, if you're only playing older games: no problem. Built-in ethernet port: positive. 3 USB 3.0 A ports: positive. No listing of USB-C: Not great for today's environment (there is a port to the user's right side that might be USB-C but can't clearly see it from the angle.) Windows 10 Home (meh, but okay). That price is the "Renewed" unit (refurbished: sometimes just a catch all for someone returned it 'cause they didn't want it, sometimes for repairing major components). You spends your money and you takes your chances. Tiny bit disturbed at the renewed/refurbished promise of "a battery that exceeds 80% capacity relative to new." It's probably fine and close, if not at 100%, but I wonder how long the unit was active if 80% is acceptable for the battery's current capacity. Not bad. Could be worse. Certainly doable for CoH Homecoming. And I see no "3 left", just "In Stock". Since laptop video cards are rare for replacement upgrades, I think I'd be more onboard with this if it had 6 GB, so that I'd have, hopefully, access to more recent games for years.

You're right! I'd not considered CoT. -
Were those professionally made costumes for NCSoft or just really great amateur cosplay work? Oh, and the ladies' costumes, too?

Allow me to offer a helpful guide. While it lacks notes on Antarctica and mangos, it definitely offers substantial advise on planning and, um, well, monologuing. Have you a 5-year old child on retainer for consultation yet? Peter's Evil Overlord List

Only if you write the name three times. Wait...does copying it make it two times now?

Trying to decide if I should like this or not. It is like Tim Burton is trying to fuse The Addams Family with Harry Potter and turn it into a series. I'm not sold...yet...on Gomez and Morticia (even if it is Catherine Zeta-Jones), though it looks like they got the right actor for Fester. Kudos for bringing Christina Ricci into the show. I get the distinct feeling she's going to be one of Wednesday's main antagonists, and possibly just as savage as Wednesday, just with a sugary personality mask. And an upbeat orchestral version of Paint It, Black for the trailer.

Excellent episode! I had a few nitpicks, but nothing story-breaking. Those saying the show is slow better be satisfied now, or risk being seen as unbelievable. Have you reserved that name? 😄 EDIT: Forgot to add... -
Serious Green Goblin vibes with this, with maybe a dash of the Scarecrow thrown in. Nicely done!

Well, there was no need for "Chase Manhattan" anymore. The Muppets already took Manhattan. I'll...let myself out. The exit is this way, yes? 👈👉
