  1. Well, while it is indeed different than what I was thinking, if Caleb potentially could have been eliminated before that moment, and wasn't, then I feel it is similar enough in spirit, at least, to qualify.
  2. I've not seen the film, but if I'm picking up on the scene's vibe, it reminds me of the OG game teams (before everyone's playing style changed and certain things became easier) when teammates started dropping and it looked like a team wipe was imminent. One or two would stand ground fighting absolutely ferociously, accepting their eventual fall so that one teammate could get to the door, or perhaps another level, making certain that there could be no true team wipe. Some of the most legendary fights erupted, and were sadly not recorded. Even better was when one of the sacrificial defenders unexpectedly survived, dropping the last opponent while clinging to a few remaining health points.
  3. What a great costume! With such inspiration, I might be tempted to actually create a card character and join a card-themed casual SG with it. Call the SG "The Full Deck". Then when teamed we can say we're playing with The Full Deck, and when we're not working with the SG, we're not playing with...
  4. Star Wars Fans Say Grogu Should Have Been Dr. Doom! Actually, I've been saying for a while that Chris Pratt should be the next Indiana Jones. Leaning more towards his Jurassic role than his MCU one. Mine is a rather lonely voice in that regard, however.
  5. Though I created this character a few days before I created Dr. Nightlight back in 2021, I just realized after a lot of searching that I'd never posted him. He's had several in-game kudos, so here's War Feather, my archery/trick arrow technology corruptor.
  6. Perhaps examples would help. The wiki's reference to the newspaper links to many of the Paragon Times articles. Just click on the associated dates to see the write-ups.
  7. So they're finally going to do it, eh? I used to work in the Disney Store in my region 30 years ago. Just for a year, but it got me plugged into the scuttlebutt network for years. Rumors were circulating even back then that a villains expansion was being considered. What we got instead, at some point, was the Halloween villains event, which was very well received. I'm not sure where they're currently going to place it, but rumors over the years were that they were looking to put a part of it overlapping the old 20,000 Leagues ride spot. I speculate that this idea first came up in one of Michael Eisner's brainstorming sessions. From what I was told, he held true brainstorming sessions with his team once per month. By that I mean, it was forbidden to say "yes, but..." and come up with some excuse for a fresh idea being not viable. Instead, they were instructed to think big and crazy. Once all brainstorming ideas were exhausted, then staff was assigned to each one to do a rough feasibility study and report findings the next month. A lot of great results came from these sessions.
  8. Note that in addition to the low population servers having double XP, you can visit the S.T.A.R.T. vendors (formerly the P2W vendors) and under Temporary, choose boosts that for a trade-off in influence will grant x0.5, x1, or x2 XP. There's a start vendor to the Atlas statue's right, and another in Pocket D. There's one up on the ledge near the base portal in Mercy Island as well, if you're red side. I don't recall where the gold side one is, but most players don't start with that side their first time or two, so it probably doesn't matter. Depending on when and where you're online there are players with lots of spare cash (INF) who like to watch Atlas for new players and give them a cash boost.
  9. Welcome Home! Sorry to copy/paste, but I literally just posted the following for another coming "home" and everything still applies. 😁 The game is not static, so you'll likely want to read up on all the changes made since 2019. Travel options are one of the big changes. It's a lot easier to get around these days. We've a new zones, new power sets, new costume pieces, new mission givers, a new strike force on the red side, etc. Lots to see and do. Not certain what your play style is like but: Excelsior currently has the largest crowd Everlasting has the largest role-play crowd Reunion is the European server Indomitable and Torchbearer have fewer numbers, but that's what their people often prefer.

  11. Remakes need not be replacements, though in some cases, like King Solomon's Mines, replacement would likely be an improvement. If remakes were to be a replacement always, how could we possibly have many great Shakespearean performances? But we do, and can therefore enjoy Hamlet interpreted through the years by Sir Laurence Olivier, Kenneth Branagh, David Tennant, and even Mel Gibson. The same is true with any other work. Referencing Branagh again, neither he nor Peter Ustinov fit the well-documented profile of the little Belgian, Hercule Poirot. David Suchet does, and in my opinion is the master at the role, but these and others have nevertheless brought their interpretations to the screen, and in them is to be found something of note, even if not perfect. So yes, 1992's The Last of the Mohicans is a classic. I stated so up front, and I see no reason to relegate it to the dustbin. As I pointed out, I feel there's room for a remake that works alongside the 1992's interpretation, but expands to link to the other four stories in Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. As such, they'd stand side-by-side as interpretations to enjoy.
  12. The Last of the Mohicans. Now hear me out. The 1992 classic (whose beautiful scenery is actually my home region. Win!) was fantastic, but changed enough of the Leatherstocking Tales to make a follow-up difficult. For my part, I'd love to see all 5 Leatherstocking Tales turned into a 5-movie series that sticks closely to the books. This will possibly mean 2 or 3 actors to portray Nathaniel "Natty" Bumppo, the main character with a host of Native American titles, as he ages a lot through the tales. Do the stories according to lore chronology rather than when published. James Fenimore Cooper was a great storyteller but a painful writer. Mark Twain recognized these points when delivering a satire-laced review of Cooper's works. As a result, a series of movies sticking close to the books might be a boon to relay the stories to a current generation that might not embrace Cooper's writing style.
  13. King Solomon's Mines. H. Rider Haggard, author of the book, was not done justice. This film had more cheese than Wisconsin. If it weren't for John Rhys-Davies, I'd have written it off.
  14. Where is this Range Finder of which you speak? Upon seeing this, I immediately re-read all the Options and didn't see anything that stood out.
  15. Visually, that would look quite exciting. I can imagine a Kronos Titan doing a Takeoff stomp and half the player avatars get tossed halfway to the Talos Police Station. And it need not be only kinetic toss-abouts. A GM opponent with ice or illusion powers to undermine multiple players at once by Flash Freeze, Frostbite, Sleet, ,Ice Slick, Flash, or Spectral Terror attacks. Illusion GMs might have their own versions of Phantom Army where half the players are suddenly attacked by phantoms. Some of these, of course, have damage as well in the game, but I present them here for their controlling effects.
  16. I'm reasonably sure those last three were names of Ravagers in the MCU Guardians of the Galaxy films. LOL. Duck Duck Go is a wrapper for Bing? I'm...disappointed. The implications of its advertising seem to point to a true autonomy, but sadly... Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy, at least in this matter.. I do wonder how we offended Bing. I'm not in a position to pay Kagi, but I did my standard search on Brave Search, Mojeek, and Yandex. Results were spot on for all three, so thanks for the tip @Lunar Ronin. Are there any popular other "wraps" for Bing besides Duck Duck Go and Yahoo!?
  17. How would that work? Lead as an anti-hero and exit via Long Range TP to a red-side zone?
  18. I could see 3, yeah, ...maaayybbeee 4, but that's, to my thinking anyway, all about giving Kheldians options: one build focused to each form, with a possible 4th build if one really wants a 3-form hybrid. Beyond that, it feels greatly excessive, If I really must try out 5 different ways of playing my character, I'd be much more inclined to start additional, identical-looking characters and just place a number/letter/mark after the name (assuming there is room). Just my two ha'pennies worth.
  19. Well, hello there! Welcome, Home! Come in, come in! The laundry room is just at the end of the hall if you need to freshen up that old battle costume from the mothball smells. Help yourself!
  20. D-I-E not D-Y-E! *Wanders off mumbling "Crazy Brits and their crazy spellings..."* 😋
  21. I've a confession to begin with: I often get weirdly lazy and if I've several browser tabs open, rather than also opening the game launcher just to link to the forums, I'll just type "Coh homecoming forums" at the top of another, and DuckDuckGo will pull up a list starting with the link to the forums. Our unofficial wiki is almost always next. Other things like the Reddit appear farther down the list. At least, that's the way it was until at some point in the past 24 hours, which is when I last attempted this method. Now when I attempt it, using the same phrasing, the forums are not listed. The wiki appears first, usually followed by a Reddit link, and a host of other things that are not the link to the forums. DDG asks if perhaps I wanted "City of Heroes Homecoming Forums". Odd, the engine never did that before, but okay, yes, sure. I select what it suggest and... no forums. Again the wiki is the lead, Reddit's also a top piece, and a host of other things. Several attempts later and I cannot get DuckDuckGo to reveal the link. As part of my experimentation, I drilled down to subsequent pages and did not find a direct link. I also found it curious that the engine mysteriously ran out of links a few pages into the search. So, donning my tin foil hat, I begin wondering if there's a conspiracy behind this. I make the same attempt on Google search. I use my standard search phrase. The forums link appears immediately and at the top of the list. I don't like Google Search, but in this case, bravo, good for them. I then attempt other search engines. So far, I've found the forums no longer appear in the listing for: Duck Duck Go Bing - Bing puts the Homecoming Reddit at top of its searches, with the wiki second Yahoo Search -- Yahoo likewise leads with the Reddit, seconds with the wiki. However, it, apparently inadvertently, reveals the Homecoming forums link in a side box to the right of the search results column. This side box is a link to the wikipedia article talking about Homecoming Servers, and as part of that Wikipedia arrangement, lists the link Wikipedia points to: forums.homecomingservers.com Now my tin foil hat is feeling electrified. What is going on here? Did the forums do something search engines consider bad? Did some AI feel we slighted it? Did we not bribe the proper people? Are the malcontent with Homecoming's success working behind the scenes to hurt it somehow? Or...? Yeah, for me and all other current players, it is a simple matter of opening the game launcher and clicking on "Forums". I'm thinking more towards long-term effects for others who, like me, at some point learn the game is functioning again and go searching for links. And yes, there are ways around this. Going into the wiki, will reveal a forums link, for example. But the clean, direct way has apparently been remove from at least 3 of the big name search engines and I find this at least odd, if not a bit disturbing. (Now where did I put that phone number for The Question? This is right up his alley.)
  22. Definitely has a bit of a Dieselpunk/Pulp vibe to it. I like it.
  23. Forgot to ask: is the fact that they're currently shooting the film Mando & Grogu evidence that they're abandoning The Mandalorian season 4? Or is some other condition at play like s4 already filmed, in post, and just not announced at D23 yet? Or maybe s4 will be set after Mando & Grogu?
  24. I know, right? I get that a planet in Star Wars can look vastly different from others, but this smacks of putting too much 1980s into the work. Every city in Star Wars has some elements that reflect a feeling that says "Star Wars", regardless of it's look. Even cities like the Lothal capital with it's broad highways into the grain fields (Star Wars: Rebels, Ahsoka), Niamos with its Miami-like feel (Andor), Ferrix with its brick and narrow-street Old Europe vibe, even Raxulon, capital of Separatist planet Raxus (The Bad Batch), which probably comes closest to what we see in this trailer have very distinctive looks which say they're another planet, not a 1980s Earth. Just giving it floating cars is not going to scream "Star Wars". That said, the film trailer definitely gave me Amblin Entertainment-style vibes. Response to hidden comment is found within hidden comment: Do you know of any footage of Mando & Grogu available online? I'm currently finding nothing when searching. Incredibles 3 -- Incredibles 2 was such a disappointment. I'd been patient because Brad Bird had been saying for years that he wanted a superior story, and it just wasn't it. I agree that there were some really good moments, though. I wonder if they'll replace Craig T. Nelson. He sounded tired and ancient in Incredibles 2. Nothing against him. He's wonderful, but the character needed a lot more energy and strength to the voice than he was able to deliver. I really hope this is like the Indiana Jones original trilogy and that the third fully recovers from the second. I think 3 will have very fertile ground for stories as the kids will likely be older and coming into their own, there's probably more supers coming out of hiding or enlisting for the first time and needing mentoring. Tron: Ares -- I really want another TRON film, a really good one, but based on what I've heard so far, this isn't it. The fact that Bruce Boxleitner has said he's done with the franchise and the seemingly apparent fact that Flynn and Tron are in some Schrodinger-like limbo state and not named as connected to this work doesn't encourage either. Perhaps, though, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Andor S2 -- Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk?! Oh, yes, please! And add sprinkles and a cherry, if y'all would. Zootopia 2: well, they could take a very dark turn and have one or more predators that never signed up to become vegans finding the city and related countryside to be fertile hunting grounds, but it's probably not going to take such a gutsy move. Whatever it is, be certain we'll see more of our favorite Shrew-father, Mr. Big. Ironheart: Meh. So far, I feel like this character will be the next Mary Sue or close to it. They may toss in a few flaws. I've nothing against the next Iron-person being female. I've everything against a character being groomed to be the next tentpole character by using Mary Sue tactics. Perhaps, though, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
