I'd love to see something done with Galaxy City. Back in the day, that's where I started all of my local characters. Atlas was for out-of-towners. But aside from the nostalgia factor, I agree there's no need to restore it as it once was. Funneling all the newbies into one place just makes more sense. Instead, I'd like to see something more suited to higher level play. Especially level 40+. Lean into what the tutorial established about GC's destruction and make the restored zone a hazard area overrun with Shivans. Contacts and missions would be about clearing and restoring the zone.

Took me around a year of playing the market to really grok that Luck Charms were no longer a big deal.

A few other metals that canonically exist in CoH: Etherium (arcane salvage): Soft as cloth, this woven metal shimmers with a strange glow. It is almost as though it comes from another world entirely. Rikti Alloy (rare invention salvage): An alloy of Rikti metals, making for a lightweight, extremely durable, metal. Ur-Metal (arcane salvage): This rare ore comes from mines in another dimension. Orichalcum (arcane salvage) also exists in CoH but here it's a crystal rather than a metal.

I think that take is wrong. Yes, you want your game to be fun and interesting but balance is a part of that. If the game is too easy, or soul-crushingly difficult, that's a problem. If one particular class/archetype/build dominates play, or is utterly useless, that's a problem. Balance can be hard to define—and even if you could you'd never get it 100% right—but leaving it to chance certainly isn't doing yourself any favors.

I think you mean OnlyFANGS.

I'm really disappointed that the first post in this thread wasn't just a picture of Snarky's back.

Captain America: Brave New World
Ulysses Dare replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
This drove me up the wall. After he died, I looked up Mr. Boseman's filmography. Before he took on the role of T'Challa, he played a whole host of characters including Thurgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson. From all appearances, he was a solid character actor and would almost certainly have endorsed "the show must go on". -
Daredevil On D+...?
Ulysses Dare replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
The trailer certainly looks good. I'm hoping that means it is good and not that Marvel finally hired someone who knows how to make good trailers. -
I don't know the numbers but it's definitely longer than 54 ft. I got sniped a couple of times when collecting exploration badges despite being above the nearby buildings when I passed by.

Is psychic a mutation or natural?
Ulysses Dare replied to normalperson's topic in General Discussion
"Natural" isn't defined by training. It's defined what is normal for your species. In CoH lore, most people don't have psychic/psionic abilites. Hence they're a mutation. If you have different lore for your character, such that most humans have some level of psychic ability, then a natural origin would make sense. -
And wash that suit!

Yes, you can. Just go to "Options", select the "Windows" tab, then scroll down to the bottom. The option you want is "Chat Settings > Save to default". Just set your chat up how you like it (or use a character where you already have) and hit save. Those settings will now be used on every new character. To add them to an already existing character, use the "load default" option.

Star Trek: Section 31
Ulysses Dare replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I'm both saddened and relieved that I stopped watching Enterprise early enough that I have no idea what this is referring to. -
My set up (windows 10, 64 bit) looks like the one Greycat posted. Except, in my case, keybinds are stored under "Settings > Live".

I'm not a Daredevil fan, so I can't speak to him, but Batman was being presented as both a superb athlete and a master martial artist long before Frank Miller.

The origins have a fair bit of overlap. That's why we have things like dual origin enhancements. Magic origin is described, rather unhelpfully, as getting their powers from a magical source. Obviously what counts as a magical source is going to vary from fiction to fiction. In CoX, it's typically metaphysical entities such as demons, angels, elder gods, etc. Mutants have some sort of genetic quirk that makes them different from other members of their species. Natural origin means the character's abilities are, at least theoretically, universal to that species. It includes people who train hard to develop their abilities but it also aliens whose abilities, while amazing to us, are normal for them. Depending on how you define what chi is and how it works, it could fit into any of these categories. Natural is probably the most consistent with how chi is commonly portrayed: as an energy that's both purely internal and universal to all things.

I think Malcolm Reynolds is more rogue than vigilante, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless.

A simple* solution to enhance the value of low level sets would be to raise their upper level. Since their bonuses are smaller, they won't displace the higher level sets but slotting them is a lot more attractive if they don't top out at level thirty. Or even worse, twenty. *Conceptually simple, I have no idea how difficult it would be to code.

ATC's Badge List PopMenu
Ulysses Dare replied to AboveTheChemist's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
Assuming you already have a character in Badger, you get their export string by selecting that character then clicking on "Export Character" in the top right corner. This will give you a string that you can copy and use later to re-import that particular character. Note; Badger doesn't save those strings, you'll have to store them away yourself. -
How To Train Your Dragon - Live action
Ulysses Dare replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I'm always baffled by the notion that a live action version that requires significant CGI is a good idea. Live action's advantage is that it's cheaper for most things: just point the camera and shoot. If the star of your movie is going to be 100% animated why are you not simply making an animated movie? It won't cost any more; in fact, it will probably cost less. But the prejudice that animation isn't a 'real" medium trumps all. -
I have fallen in love with this game

US trademark office vacates "Super Hero" for Marvel & DC!
Ulysses Dare replied to Hyperstrike's topic in General Discussion
Huzzah! I've been waiting years for this. The idea that two competing businesses could jointly own a trademark flies in the face of everything trademarks are supposed to be. I assume it only lasted this long because no one had the money to challenge it.
