  1. I can confirm the elec blast is way better with insta snipe. Voltaic Sentinel was no replacement for a good T3 shot to the grill.
  2. I'm envisioning a AoE based blaster that can hold it's own at melee range without constant faceplanting. I'm okay with relying on crowd control to fill in the survivability gap. I plan on taking electric mastery so I can use EMP pulse along with the mass hold in the atomic secondary. Any help is appreciated, no ideas are bad. Thanks.
  3. I haven't really leveled blasters up in this new environment. My highest blaster is a RAD/Atomic blaster at level 28. I'm not sure if I'm going to build her for survivability or not. Given the recharge bonus in her secondary I'm leaning towards going heavy recharge bonus and relying on her holds and crowd control abilities to keep me upright. I'm not really worried that I'll be gimped through most of the main game because like I said before, control heavy blasters with high damage work. I do worry about the post 50 game though. Specifically incarnate content. I'm also leveling a beam/dev blaster. I'll probably go for ranged defense on her because she has zero blappage and relies on staying at range via caltrops as is. Might as well just add to my ability to abuse that mechanic.
  4. I've never seen that term used in a derogatory manner. To me It just meant blasters who would enter melee range for extra damage from time to time. Me I personally liked the term "BlapTroller". A blaster who would use holds on the enemy then close in for a round of devastating melee attacks. My Triple Elec blaster excelled at that. Especially since you got 3 holds and 3 heavy hitting melee attacks, in addition to endurance drain. I could neuter bosses with that build, long before IO set bonuses became a thing.
  5. Oh my damn.... I just took this power on my DP/MA blaster... It's like night and day now that I have it. Man I wish blaster secondaries were this good back in the day.
  6. Got one to 26. Playing her like a classic blaptroller. Lock things down by spamming cosmic burst and positron cell, and lay the smackdown with Negatron Slam. My controls recharge quickly thanks to beta decay and hasten, so locking down bosses is doable. Things will only get better when I add radioactive cloud and Atom Smasher. My only problem has been finding room for pool powers. Everything in the primary and secondary is good (except Neutrino Bolt, and Electron Haze) so I want to take them. I'll probably round things out by adding electrical mastery.
  7. Yeah.... when I came back I didn't notice the change. I thought they'd added a lonnnnng recharge to radiation infection. Didn't notice that it was still active on a dead mob in the room I'd already left.
  8. Between beta decay, hasten and slotting for recharge I think I can handle the long recharge. Thanks.
  9. Anyone have any experience with this power from the Atomic Manipulation set? Is it worth taking? I used choking cloud from radiation emission on my old rad/rad defender and found it forgettable. But the defender had access to EMP which was a damn good hold. Since mass holds on blasters are a rare thing, and I can use beta decay to debuff enemy defense, I'm wondering if this power is worthwhile. Thoughts?
  10. I took a triple fire and a triple elec to 50 before IO's were a thing. Before Incarnates, Also before sustains and the changes to nukes and snipes. You have to play carefully and rely on inspirations quite a bit but yeah it's doable. I'm cake walking with a Rad/Rad blaster right now and expect to do the same with ICE/NRG. I soloed a large amount of the content, only teaming up for super group missions, task forces and Elite AV's. I'm even re-rolling my fire/fire to see what it's like to level one in the new environment. Even though I frikken hated the fire secondary. But that was before cauterizing wounds.
  11. Oh and apologies.... I guess I could just monitor stats and test this for myself.
  12. So let's say I have a corrupter running Temp Invul, and he get's held. Are the resistances granted by temp invul still active or not?
  13. I have yet to run into a single discourteous person since the game came back. I tend to solo a lot, but still when I ask a question or am actually on a team everyone has been really cool.
  14. In the old days if you got mezzed your toggles just dropped. You had to scramble to turn them on after the mez effect wore off. After many years of this annoying fact toggles were suppressed. Turned off during mezzes but auto-enabled when the effect wore off. Now I'm noticing that the toggles don't appear to turn off at all. Is that the case or am I seeing things?
  15. Funny. My highest sentinel is fire/fiery aura and he has no control beyond blazing blasts fairly reliable knockback. As for mitigation, okay resists, a fast charging self heal, and a boost to regen. Of course that build pumps out raw damage so that in it self is pretty helpful. I'm going to try Fire/Atomic next.
  16. I was under the impression that Fiery Embrace only added dot chance to fire powers. Maybe I'm wrong.
  17. Actually sentinels are balanced pretty well. Survivable enough to make up for their lower damage. And damaging enough to be formidable. I think they're my new favorite class.
  18. I love sentinels because they have something blasters don't. The ability to relax a bit. Playing a blaster is playing on the razor's edge. One mistake can get you face planted in a nanosecond. My sentinel can screw up and just pop healing flames. Unless I get one shotted I at least have time to consider a retreat. And then of course... status protection. A ranged class with built in status protection... even if you eliminated every other benefit from sentinels, the status protection would make up for it.
  19. Honestly I wouldn't exclude any class for teaming. Some mobs get knocked loose.. meh. I've played just about every class and the only one that comes to mind that just does not meld with teams is the Stalker class. For obvious reasons. And I'd still take them on my team because I know what they're for. Taking out bosses and AV's or at least doing extreme damage and then bailing.
  20. There's this one Arc That has you fighting this Archnos boss in Faultline. And all he does is summon force field generators and throw smoke grenades. Sureeee…. once you've faced him once you know what to do. Get accuracy boosting inspirations and rick roll his dumb ass. But the first time around is frustrating because you can't hit him, and let's say you're lucky enough to do some damage.... he tosses smoke grenade and you can't target him. Then he pummels you to death. Also in Faultline you get a preview of the Malta group. In the form of a boss who just spams missiles none stop. So many that it obscures your vision. And heaven help you if you don't have knockback protection. You won't be able to stand long enough to mount an offense. Once again you have to rely on inspirations. Lucks, and enough damage boosters to fry the fool before he dances on your grave. Very humiliating defeats, and yet I'm glad to able to experience them.
  21. I'll admit, that I don't fully understand the Incarnate system. I left the game shortly after it was implemented. Is there some kind of guide to understanding it?
  22. Not a big fan of trying to rely on hover as a defensive tactic. I like to stay fairly mobile and that's a problem in many areas that have low ceilings. It probably would make more sense to plan on slotting for defense to the degree that I can and abandoning the idea of building for status resistance. Or hell.... just slotting for max damage. Dead mobs don't mez. I do plan on taking the leaping pool for combat jump and acrobatics.
  23. Well Mystic flight isn't too shabby. Flight with a built in teleport. And Arcane bolt is a nice filler attack for the early game, so I won't feel too bad about taking it. And a 90 second status shield sounds good. I had no Idea that it lasted that long.
  24. Anyone use this sorcery pool power? Is it worth getting if you're a squish type without access to status protection?
  25. Yeah... I was afraid of that. It's probably still worth building for resistance because at least you'll be drooling like an idiot for a shortened period of time...
