  1. Thanks for the response. I am making some adjustments based on your suggestions. I was actually curious about the Mass Levitate power and procs. I was thinking about just loading it up with 5 damage procs and FF + Recharge. My accuracy from set bonuses will give good accuracy and with Concentration I can probably hit ok. Any thoughts on this slotting compared to 5 Armageddon? I know procs are supposed to be good for ATs like Controllers and Defenders, but not sure if the math works out for Stalkers. I pulled out Armageddon and it doesn't look like I will need the 10% recharge. Hasten will still be perma as will the Widow and Energize will be close. Thanks for the tips. I may eventually try to create a PVP build for this guy and dip my toe into PVP.
  2. Thank you all for the responses!! Looks like I have to adjust some slotting...
  3. I always slot this IO (Preventive Medicine: Absorb Proc) in an auto power (Health usually), but recently I have seen several posts where people are saying to 6 slot a click power with Preventive Medicine instead of 5 slotting the power with Doctored Wounds. The theory being that the set bonuses are better on Preventive Medicine. Does the + Absorb IO only proc when the power is clicked or will it still kick in when the rules trigger? ParagonWiki states: This enhancement has a chance every 5 seconds to give you an absorption barrier. If your health is between 31% and 75%, this power has a 10% chance of triggering. However, if your health is less than 31% there is a 100% chance of triggering. This effect can only trigger once every 90 seconds.
  4. This the Psy/Energy/Soul build I am leveling right now. Had some questions I hope someone could help with: I am only level 32, but endurance has been a major issue with this build due to all the toggles. Will Agility resolve or is this build going to be an End hog forever? I have slotted Health and Stamina with the procs and have the Atlas Medallion, but still having issues. Energy Drain is not yet slotted out, so maybe that will resolve the issues. Is Mass Confusion the right power for Assassin's Mark? Is the proc slotting in PB and TB ok or should I be using a set? Should I move slots from Boggle to Kinetic Dampening and/or Tough to shore up Resistance? Any other recommendations? 5. It is about allowing a single character to continue progressing. The idea came to me as I was about to shelve my latest 50. I was just thinking that it would be nice to instead of starting a new character to have a new build on the existing character that allowed a selection of new power sets / ATs. I was just thinking it would be nice to have one character that has done everything in game (all badges, Villain/Hero arcs, etc.). You can certainly do that with an existing character, but my reality is that I like leveling new builds and exploring new powers more than I would like to spend the time on one character to do everything, I just thought it would be something neat to be able to do to be able to do both. Then I started thinking about the downsides if this option were implemented in game and couldn't really think of any. Then I started thinking about the upsides where the character could get all the badges, explore more power sets, be able to fill multiple roles, and how I would play one character much longer, so would become more engaged in the overall community. I basically saw all upside and no downside. I haven't seen anyone mention any downside except the technical implementation. The other thing is that when I am playing the game I sometimes have thoughts like "Man, it would be cool if we could do X" or "Man, I sure wish they had a trainer in Oro" and then I continue playing and forget the idea, This time I just decided to start a thread in the suggestions forum and add to it as ideas come up.
  6. It is definitely technically possible. The question is whether it would be a valuable use of resources compared to other priorities and the complexity of the solution. In this case, most likely it is not. Yes, I understand that is not how it works here. Been playing this game since 2004, so understand how it works. Just making a suggestion on things I personally would like to see and that IMO would benefit the game. The suggestion on multiple builds leveraging multiple ATs / Power Sets is more about progression as opposed leveling difficulty or the name. What do you do once you hit 50 and fully incarnate? I would guess most people start an Alt (this is what I do) and a few continue to play their character long term. My suggestion is about giving the character the ability to progress long term and become more established in the community as opposed to sitting on the shelf. I have 8 50s now that I just login and move them to a new day job location, while I spend my time leveling up a new character. I assume I am not the only one who does this, but maybe I am wrong. For me, it would have been awesome if I could have taken my DP/EM character and had a separate builds for DP/MC, DP/Ninjitsu, DP/SR, and AR/Devices. You could set up the next build, so you could level it as normal. Example: I get my DP/EM to 50 and now want to roll a DP/MC. I go to the new build section, select my AT and Power Set, and start leveling. It is just like starting a new character, just in the second build, I don't really care about the actual reward, so your idea of +def/+res to Psionics seems reasonable to me. My thought is more along the lines of tangible rewards to drive progression. On my characters I am leveling I always get the 4 passive accolades, but rarely get the other accolade powers. The reward v. time need to be enough where the time spent to get the reward is seen as an accomplishment. I would also like to see an accolade power for completing all the TFs.
  7. I noticed on my BS / SD stalker that Active Defense doesn't have the ability to select it as on or off click power, which impacts the ability to see the status protection values on the Status tab.
  8. In my original post I tried to articulate why I thought it would be a good idea, but my thoughts were: Be able to play multiple ATs and/or power sets on one character Fill different roles without having to switch characters Be able to have one character become a "main" for badges, etc., Allow a character to be played longer and become more ingrained within the community Allows post Incarnate progression It started because I have a character with a name that could fit a lot of ATs / Power Sets. He is an Illusion / Radiation Controller, but it would be cool if he could switch to Illusion / Storm, or Mind / Psy Dominator, etc. Basically, I am always trying out new characters, so once at 50 and Incarnated I rarely play my 50. I expect many others do the same. It would be nice to have one character I could play long term. Yes, I understand I can play my current character long term and I have seen quite a few people with veteran levels that are 100+, so they are able to continue enjoying their characters post-50. IMO, there is limited progression once you are 50 and fully Incarnate. This would allow continuous progression with limited downside. Anyway, it is just a suggestion that is unlikely to be implemented, because I expect it would be extremely difficult. This is a good idea. I think the main reason for my suggestion is that I feel there is a lack of progression post 50 and being Incarnated. I think adding new items for progression would alleviate some of it. In another thread I suggested a new badge and accolade power for completing the Shadow Shard TFs and some other badges. Things like this would give a sense of progression. In SWTOR, once you were at max level it was basically the same thing, but they had guild wars that gave individuals a weekly reward for tasks. Maybe something like that could be added. Maybe I should check out PVP here. I played PVP in SWTOR, but was under the impression PVP was not good in CoH.
  9. Some of these may have already been requested, but I haven't searched to check. Multiple Builds: Allow different ATs or Power Sets to be selected (i.e. Build 1 could be a Blaster, Build 2 a Tanker, etc.). I made this suggestion earlier (see link below), but adding it here to a list of items I would like to see change. Add an Accolade power (Auto: 5% Recharge) and badges for the Shadow Shard. Something like: Completing the 4 Shadow Shard TFs Completing the Chantry Exploration Badge Completing some defeats of Rularuu (Not sure there are badges, so might have to create) Complete Shadow Shard History badges (Not sure there are badges, so might have to create) Have Combat Jumping work with Ninja Run and Beast Run Add a P2W vendor and a trainer to Oro Add a trainer to AE locations Add a default slot to Ninja Run and Beast Run for Endurance, Jump, and Run Speed enhancements Have Fly give you the option to select Magic Carpet, Void Skiff, or Rocket Board as your animation for Fly. Or have these 3 powers reskinned as temp powers like Jet Pack. Basically, it would be nice to use these options as Fly powers without the de-toggling, although I would still want to keep the current powers that do the de-toggle. Maybe once you buy the current version a new version could open up as a temp power. AE: Have some volunteers review and play story arcs and then propagate them to core content. Basically, I would like to see players write coherent story arcs or task forces that are aligned with canon that could be propagated to core with the appropriate rewards (merits, etc.). The 2 new story arcs that were added in the recent update are good examples or content that I thought were pretty good. The HC team is not likely going to be able to add content at a rapid pace, but HC community could. There are tons of good content in AE right now, but I think most people don't play the AE content because it may not be rewarding or maybe it is not immersive because you are doing it in an AE building. Maybe there could be one story arc per month that is propagated and one TF every quarter. Obviously they would need to be tested, but it might be interesting to have new story paths to use to level. This is a very creative community, so I think we would see some really good stories. Would also get more people to use AE, which I think is horribly underused (except for farming). Add the Experienced Power to the P2W vendor. Anyway, I will add to the list as I think of new suggestions.
  10. I have started a Mind/Psy/Psy and plan to use the following build as a guide. I found this build on the forums, so thank you to the build creator. The challenge I have is that I have no idea how to play this build. I am now 20 through DFB and DIB, but I am just pressing buttons as they come off cooldown. How the heck do you play a Dominator? Should I follow a specific attack chain, how do you set up Containment, etc.? Any tips would be great. 11. I have serious alt-itis and once I get to 50, finish my IO build, and finish my Incarnate abilities I start a new character. I now have 8 level 50 characters, so the ones I have at 50 seldom get played as I play alts to try and get them to 50. I was thinking today that it might be nice to have the multiple builds that we have today to allow players to select different ATs and/or power sets to new builds. For example: A player could have a Blaster on Build 1 and a Tank as Build 2, so they could play multiple roles. A player could build an Illusion/Rad Controller on Build 1, an Illusion/Ice Controller on Build 2, etc. I'm sure there is probably good reasons not to do this change, but when thinking about pros and cons this is what I see: Cons: It might impact the number of new characters a player might create The player may not have experience with the build if they are able to just select a new AT or power set for a new build Pros: It might free up some names as players create fewer characters It might allow a character to become more familiar to the community as the player plays that character for a longer time frame in game A player would not have to get the accolades and badges for as many characters and in fact might spend more time badging because they have a main character that they put their time into for badges My suggestion: Allow players to have the ability to select multiple ATs and/or power sets for their 3 builds Ideally you would want a player to select Build 2 and then have to level that build as the player did the main build, but not sure if this would be feasible. The ability to add an AT and/or power set to Build 2 would start at Vet Level 50 The ability to add an AT and/or power set to Build 3 would start at Vet Level 150 The ability to add ATs and/or power sets to builds could only be allowed for one character per account BTW, I'm not talking about the feasibility of doing this change as it may not be feasible. I am interested in other players thoughts / feedback on this topic. I think FF XIV allows the character to level various aspects, so there is some precedence.
  12. Can someone help me figure out how to do enhancement boosts for specific IOs in a build? I basically want to make my recharge IOs in Hasten + 5, but I only see the ability to make all enhancements + 5.
  13. This sounds reasonable to me as a starting point. Otherwise, if you buff Swap Ammo and people don't take it they don't get the benefit. I also think DP is light from a DPS standpoint and don't like a combo idea system.
  14. I would suggest reading this guide (http://guidescroll.com/2011/07/city-of-heroes-illusionradiation-controller-guide/), although you may have read it based on your Deceive comment. It is old, but some of it is still relevant today. I had built my Illusion/Radiation Controller on Live using this guide and I could not solo AVs, but I think that was my tactics. I am now building on HC using a similar model, but making some adjustments. Here is my current planned build. I am at level 33, so everything could change by the time I hit 50. Here I have perma-Hasten, perma-AM, and close to perma-PA. I took the Sorcery pool for thematic purposes and Rune of Protection, but saw a thread on Enflame with procs, so thought I would test it out. While leveling I am using SW-Blind-AB as my primary attack chain and I usually start my combat with Deceive. I am barely using Flash or Spectral Terror, so not sure if they will stick in the final build. This is a weird build because I am not building for defense like normal. I had started another thread about useful temporary powers, so I decided to see if a build could rely on a temp power, Here I am planning to use Wedding Band to help Resistance. When Rune of Protection is available my S/L resistance is 71.9%. When it is not available I can use Wedding Band and it will cap S/L/Fire. When Wedding Band runs out I can go get it again through flashback. 15. Been looking a this build for awhile and have decided to replicate it. Some questions / comments: You don't take Time's Crawl. I saw another thread where you mentioned you couldn't take down an AV. Would this help with AVs? I was thinking of replacing Grant Invisibility with it. You lose 7.5% recharge, but not sure how much impact that has on the overall build. Any thoughts? I'm not a fan of Hover, so replacing with Maneuvers. I assume this has no impact on the build, just slightly higher defense and helps the team a bit? I'm playing this build from level 1, so will see how it performs during the leveling process. I generally use DFBs to about 16 or 17, then some story arcs and some AE to 26, Oro missions to get to 30 to 32, and then generally TFs for 32+. Interested in how this performs in those scenarios. I don't slot IOs until 22, although here with procs I might be able to slot earlier. It is obvious you have put a lot of time into this build, so wanted to thank you for sharing and also thank you for your work on testing procs and recharge times.
  16. Any updates to the build since all the PPM threads? Could you post the latest?
  17. I'm starting another character (Archery / Ninja Blaster). This character is a reformed Tsoo, who uses his skills for justice. The challenge is I cannot come up with a good costume, so thought I would ask if anyone has a good costume for this concept. I am currently using the tattooed tank top with the Tech Quiver, the martial arts belt, headband, face wrap, and wrapped feet and hands. Just seems kind of basic. If anyone has some ideas on how to spice it up, please let me know.
  18. I don't want to open another thread, although my question is not about AOE specifically. I'm trying to understand what happens if FF procs. The tool tip states, "Gives a chance to boost the recharge time of all your powers by 100% for 5 seconds. This effect will trigger roughly 2 times per minute". For example, how much time does it reduce Hasten if it procs? Hasten base recharge is 7 minutes and 30 seconds. I have FF in 3 seperate powers. I assume I have an option to get it to proc twice per minute with each power. Is this the case? I understand it doesn't stack. Does FF effect Incarnate powers? Basically, I am trying to figure out how much value I am getting out of the 3 FF procs. I was hoping to shave a few seconds recharge off Hasten and Rune of Protection.
  19. Great idea! I have the Supercollider in my base but have never used it. Time to check it out!
  20. I just did the missions for the Wedding Band and Electromagnetic Grenades. I could see the Wedding Band as useful for many characters. Not sure my AR/Dev will get much use out of it because I have Force of Nature. The mission arc took me about 30 minutes, but did reward 25 merits. I could see me getting this on another character and running the Oro missions to keep it full time, but probably won't get much use on this Blaster. The Electromagnetic Grenades are easy to get as you only need to do one mission with 5 clickies. TBD if I actually use them on a regular basis.
  21. I just hit 50 and gotten to level 3 on all incarnate powers on my AR/Devices Blaster. My Ranged defense is short of softcap in combat by ~1%, so I decided to see if there were some temporary powers I could use to close the gap as opposed to adjusting my build again. I added the Combat Drone from the P2W vendor and that closed the gap for me, although if the drone is destroyed the defense goes away. Anyway, I started looking at the temp powers and have decided to do some Oro missions to get some powers that fit my theme like Electromagnetic Grenades. It looks like you can continuously replenish these grenades as needed through Oro. It led me to a couple of questions I thought I would pose to the community to generate some conversation and insight in temp powers: What are some of the most useful temp powers that can be obtained multiple times? Do you find these temp powers useful enough that you will do the missions to get the powers when they expire and, if so, which power is it and how does it for your character or build? https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Temporary_Powers
  22. My buddy just started playing and he has not played since before the shut down, so is not aware of things like attuned IOs, sets, etc. He rolled an Ice / Plant because he wanted to stack holds. He didn't research the build and I haven't played Ice or Plant, so cannot provide good advice. Any thoughts on whether it is a strong combo? Any things he should know? Powers to skip, etc.?
  23. I am on the other end of the extreme. I plan my build out and adjust it multiple times while I level. I also market to get the IO sets I need as I level, so that at 50 I usually have 90% of my sets complete. At 50, I finish the build while working on my Incarnates. Once Incarnates are done I ask myself: what do I do now? I then roll another character.
  24. I very rarely use Ignite as well, so maybe should look at something else. I very rarely use Trip Mine, but I do occasionally use it right before I hit some mobs, so if they come after me they run through the mine. I tend to use Rune of Protection right before combat with a mob that will Mez me or if I get hit with a Mez in combat. It does seem like getting rezzed is rare for me at range, but I have found it pretty useful while leveling and in team combat. I didn't think about a FF in Snip and that is a good idea, but I would lose 3.75% defense I would have to make up somewhere else. Would you mind sharing your build? I'll move some sets around on my build to see if I can figure out how to move a FF in Snipe. Maybe I can drop Ignite and take Maneuvers or Combat Jumping to make up for the lost defense.
