The Preamble: Meet Slay Belle, the Ultimate Christmas Cracker. I have limited experience of MMs, but this seems to be a joy to play, surivable too from what I can tell, though I have rather rushed the route to 50. Now I'm really getting to know her, and loving every moment. In terms of background I wanted to try something different here on Reunion and something seaonal, and unusually for me I built this in Mid's first. I'd welcome comments and critiques, but on paper at least she seems very very impressive and I am enjoying building her to what seems like could be a very very powerful character. How do you guys justify your MM versus superheroes/supervillains?
Scarlet Shocker replied to Caide's topic in Mastermind
It's an interesting question, but I think others have pointed out that any character can appear to be "weak" against the regular opposition. Personally I prefer the weaker type of protagonist, up against the tougher opponent. One of my favourite comic characters is Daredevil for exactly that reason and conversely I really actively dislike Superman, because unless his opponent has a healthy dose of kryptonite up his sleeve, he's toast. It's also worth remembering you do have inherent powers to boost your minions, be they pets or henchmen, so it's not unrealistic to say if you're of Magic origin you enchant them or if Tech you upgrade their gear etc so they are then able to cope with said opponent. There's also another option, if you can do it, which is simply not to worry about it. Don't overthink it and enjoy playing the character for its own sake, and if that doesn't work, just let your imagination run wild. Your character's story is yours to own, so do what you think works for you. -
That makes sense. Thanks.

This feels like a bug, but perhaps it's simply odd behaviour. I am running a Demons/Cold MM, and when I buff them with shields, Ice & Glacial is fine until we go through an instance door. At that point the shields turn off for my pets. However, they remain in place on fellow team mates who've received the same buff. Is this working as intended because it seems somewhat odd? If it works for player characters but not pets, it seems silly at the very best. If I have to buff anyone I'd think it would be the players not my pets.

Just run Posi 1 & 2, back to back, once I hit 50 and didn't get a Notice of the Well. I did run a Tarikoss before I was 50 a couple of days back but obviously couldn't claim a NotW then. Is that normal? Should I not get it now I'm 50 and incarnate is unlocked?

Interesting point. some good comments in this thread too. I guess it all depends on what you want your AT to be. The OPs toon will be largely keep everything away and murder everything that's not EB/AV. But it's not really got the debuffs to take the big buggers down. One of the things I lovelovelove about Trollers is their variety. Different power combos give a totally different feel to the character, far more so than with other ATs I find and their strengths and weaknesses will very much depend on what sets you've chosen and your playstyle with that toon. Personally I find I play best with debuffs and lockdowns - my Earth/Ice is a case in point, but you can do lots of damage with Illusion or Fire when paired with other complimentary sets. I had a lot of fun with a Fire/TA without following the typical Fire/Kin or Fire/Rad methodology. I also find I make a massive impact on smaller teams. Don't forget the game is significantly easier with the introduction of Incarnates, and even tough TFs pre I23 are relatively simple now. But if you get a smaller team, say 3, 4 or 5 you'll notice your magic working much more obviously. I'd suggest the OPs toon as it stands is to provide a protective barrier for his team - nothing gets to them if he's on the ball but I'd also urge him/her? to experiment with other types and see where they go.

Amongst my other punnish names I have a Warshade. It was a concept after a thread on the old live forums when Back Alley Brawler was still around. Somebody complained about casually playing on his purpled out Warshade. BABs called him on that, in an amusing way and "Purple Doubt" was born. -
Nice dig. I love how you managed to slag off a small team of unpaid volunteers who kept the dream alive with minimal funding and few resources in just one sentence. That's classy. Well done. Give yourself a medal I wonder how much better you'd have done.

Razer Naga Chroma I also use an orbweaver which is a dogpile compared to my much beloved and dearly missed Nostromo n52

SCORE servers ran in secret for a number of years with pretty good numbers. Sure, some of the new servers will fall by the wayside. Darwin predicted this. Indeed some already have for varying reasons. The game will continue for as long as people are prepared to keep it going. It's a collective effort.

My take on the game is perhaps not the same as most. I find the game solo is fundamentally less satisfying than many other games designed for the solo experience. I love this game, but it's much better in a team. I also find that although there's a lot of "entry level" content, some of it's pretty difficult to access, again, doubly so, solo. And many players want to get to 50 as quick as they can, just because they can. I won't say I've never done that (mostly with concept characters I want to use in high level experiences) but I find it pretty frustrating. I love the "normal speed" journey to 50, if I have a character I'm enjoying. If not I will PL through some levels just to see if it changes/improves. But my typical experience is to play it to 50, learn its quirks, foibles and interesting abilities, then IOs and Incarnate. Sometimes it takes getting to 50 to realise it's a bucket of puke and then it'll get deleted. But I'll have given myself time to make an informed decision. If I could get more prople interested in content runners, I'd be very happy but I tried doing a thing in Praetoria, and got a few people who said they'd join but nobody showed so, meh. Apathy is dull.

You might guess from my name that Scarlet is Elec/Elec/Elec. That's not the best combo and /EM does encourage you to melee a great deal, and some of the Elec Blast powers are PBAoEs. It's difficult not to blap. I also have an Ice/Energy blaster who's an absolute monster, called Snowfreak. I mean she's a real beast and does a shed-load of damage, hits like a truck but not too many AoEs (though the T9 is a big AoE) One thing Elec does quite well for a blaster is control so if you're soloing a lot, especially at higher levels you've got three solid holds and some good mitigation - if they can't move, they can't hit you. Why not play both and see which one you like most?

ok there's a lot of posts already and I've not read everything in detail, so apologies if I'm repeating a question. what is the status of the Euro forums in this project? For many years the game suffered from a dev-inflicted trans-atlantic divide and we were very much the poor relations for a very long time. I hope if you're going to bring back the US forums, you'd also consider bringing the EU forums too, though I'd understand if it took a bit longer.

the problem I find is that if I leave out some busy groups, I miss lots of into but if I have it in more than one window it swamps -
I found that zoning or entering a mission resets it. It was a bug on live I think too.

Well it seems this is a bit of a bust. If you're still interested, please post here again and let's see if we can revive it.

Water armour destroys paper armour very fast, but it does give paper armour huge +def bonuses against fire!

So you post a character name here, and then the following poster has to identify your AT and your Power Sets, including A/PPP. One guess per name. 4 points maximum. If you don't get max points, next correct guess gets 1 point for following on with a correct answer. Following entries (assuming there are still discrepancies) get the pleasure of playing. Obviously don't be a dick and type; Character Name: Bob. There has to be a clue in it to make it fair for others. Post your global too. I'll start Global: @Riff Character: Scarlet Shocker over to you

It's just a police box. That's all. Move along, nothing to see here... ;-)

So I'm in a distinct number of chat groups in games, and finding keeping tab [sic] of all the potential places to have a conversation with my fellow players is proving to be somewhat confusing. How do you guys tend to arrange yours in the most efficient and user friendly manner? I'd love to see and maybe crib some ideas from you.
