  1. I use a Razer Naga million button mouse and a Razer Tarterus game pad so once I know how to make a functioning bind I can glue it to a single keypress and Robert is your mother's brother.
  2. ok so... given the "need" for Mystic Flight, I've reworked the build (again) so here is V4 I have sacrificed some Def but improved Res dramatically across the board - and I figure that if I can get the macro working, I can TP into a mob and the poor bastards won't know what hit them until it's too late. I do love the synergy of Shark Skin and the "Oh Shit" button in Hibernate but not too enamoured of the Coralax but hard to know what else to take. Open to suggestions. 3. I happened to click on a Paragon City Community Information beacon in Talos the other day, just a moment's idle curiosity to see what they did these days. If you click on Character and scroll down it gives you this data. That to me is amazing. It made me smile but it also made me ask "why?" What could it be about that particular activity that is worth recording. Do you get a badge for doing it more than once? Well thus far it doesn't seem so. Maybe once a day for 100 days? Or is it just a junk stat that is recordable so it is recorded with no meaningful outcome? (Possible but the dullest of all possible outcomes IMHO) I still think it's one of those little gems we occasionally find in our city but I'm curious to know why it exists in the first place and what possible benefit it could have.
  4. I think it's very important, regardless of suspension of belief that VFX that harm mobs should be visible to us. If mobs had VFX that were invisible, there'd be an outcry from the player base - and rightly so. Being able to actually see what your damaging effects are actually damaging is kind of vital in this and any game.
  5. Excellent point, well made, one I'd not considered. Thanks. That'll prevent me getting slapped by the team. Hmmmmm interesting This I like - I think So... let's take this a stage further - I'm in the air, I want to select my target, TP there, turn off MF and then drop PT - can I do that all in one macro?
  6. I like Mystic Flight/Trans - BUT here it has one massive drawback. If I want to TP into the middle of a mob I have an extra click to turn off the flight power so that I can lay PT. PT is one of those super annoying powers that you just cannot use even if at 0ft when flying. I perhaps might be able to remedy it with a bind but frankly I'm not good enough with binds to do that. I'm also unsure what I'd drop to get that TP power. I like the power and slotting that Stealth gives me, not to mention the fact that as a squishy it's good to be able to get thru some maps unseen. I appreciate the suggestion and I'm on board with why you think they're good options but I figure at the speed with which we can get Incarnate powers in the game today it's not too long of a wait.
  7. I'm thinking Incan might be the way to go there... appear in the midst of mobs, stun them and... oh they never quite recover because VG and PT
  8. I totally agree with this too - it's a circle that's difficult to square. When you've got a 24 person league all wailing on the same AV it can be almost impossible to distinguish anything of note - just a mass of colours and patterns, like a rainbow on bad acid. I guess I could look on the issue from the other perspective: some VFX are simple overwhelming. And again I need to reiterate I was not offering a critique of the efficacy of said powers, just how they look.
  9. There are some visual effects that are completely underwhelming in this game and it seems strange. I first noticed this when using Pyronic Judgement - perhaps I did myself no favours having swapped out Ionic for thematic reasons but Ionic looks boss - I mean you know you've been hit with a power that literally makes you look like a statesman (pun intended). Pyronic, on the other hand looks like somebody's just tried to light a fart, without much success. Void doesn't look awful... but it doesn't compare to Ionic. I can't necessarily speak to other Judgement powers but this did get me thinking and then a following discussion re poison for Defenders - with a particular emphasis on Venomous Gas. And then it struck me - you can barely see VG. Even if you customise the colours, it's very very difficult to see - and yet it's got a 15 ft radius. That's a 30ft diameter and I cannot for the life of me see the edges of the power which does rather mean you've just got to throw yourself into the middle of a mob and hope for the best. It makes using the power tactically incredibly difficult and it would be nice to think something could be done to improve the powers VFX. Given that this is kind of Poison's signature power it seems visually most underwhelming and disappointing. So what other powers do you think need to be improved visually? What leave you thinking "doesn't matter how great it is, it looks really sucky"? Do our devs have the capacity to change visuals?
  10. thankyou everyone for your kind words. They helped me a lot and I know she would be deeply touched to know how much caring there is in this community.
  11. Don't call it weakness, call it a difference in play style. I must admit it's difficult for me to thrust myself into the middle of mobs (when not a tank) - but if there is a good tank taking the aggro, then this does seem to work well, unslotted and only lvl 40. I seem to have a routine of run into the mob behind the tank, with VG running, then PT, then a couple of local holds, followed by Tidal Forces and Waterburst or Geyser There's not very much left unharmed and standing after that. They're falling down like they been really drunk 😄

  13. Interesting build. I like it, thanks!
  14. I kind of understand the OPs main point that it's very very easy to get to 50 with a bit of help for no actual money - but what I don't understand is what he cannot now do that he could before? To my knowledge, nothing's been taken away.
  15. Thankyou Menomancer I'd read the first guide top to bottom - I'd not seen your post and I am still not. I will study it in a better from of mind later - but you are more than welcome to post your best build guides here.
  16. Her name will probably not mean too much to many of you but for a few months she, myself ( @Riff ) and @ September Sorbet tore up this city - but on 2nd of this year Novaflame - Bunny to those that knew her well - went to sleep forever. I'd known her for best part of a decade off and on, a bright flame, her avatars always pale skinned, platinum blonde, scarlet lipstick on a mouth to die for, with a wicked sense of humour and a beautiful, kind, loving soul that always put others before herself. She was smart, with a razor wit but never ever used in malice. We lost touch for some years but reconnected as Covid struck and forced many people like us back into virtual environments. It was like we'd never been apart. From then on we were like brother and kid sister but she was always always supportive, kind. She'd check in with me not daily but at least a few times a week: "How are you doing? What's new, hey have you thought of trying X, Y , Z?" She was super smart, funny and to fall asleep at just 35 seems such a waste for someone with a heart so full of love. She enjoyed this game hugely so I just felt that you guys should know. Even if her flame didn't set this place ablaze, it will burn brightly in some hearts for as long as the rest of us live. RIP Bunny
  17. so I've come up with this build: It's crap. It's light on Def, Res and status resistances - I can see I'll be munching orange and purple sweeties like an addict. but it's going to hurt anyone that comes close. I think I'm gonna hit them quite hard and there's going to struggle to dodge anything I put in their path. I can also run away with a bit of luck. If you can think of anything I can do to improve it feel free to suggest. I'm not wedded to Psychic Mastery but it seems like a pretty good compliment to it. 18. This isn't a particular character's theme tune but this is great music for travelling through our beloved city https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bvOCTzDebo
  19. I've always liked Water as a set. I have always liked Poison as a set. I have never combined the two. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of synergy and I've probably never played Poison to its full potential, preferring to stand at range, thus largely missing the T9 benefits of Venomous Gas. But I do have an amazing concept for a toxic water goddess in a polluted war zone - and I want it to work. I've spent hours in Mids and so far I'm just shitting the bed. It seems like it should work but I just can't make it do the magic. It feels like the basis of Poison is Venomous Gas... you build the character's core around that and on paper, Water should support that in some good ways; Water Burst, Whirlpool and Geyser seem that with some judicial targetting, would erupt beneath your feet and benefit from VG immensely. The other ranged powers of Water would seem to synergise well with the debuffs of Poison, but when I put it all into Mids I get a mess, something neither here nor there, not doing anything well and nothing seems to give me enough to give a sense of survability. I would really enjoy this working. But I got nothing. Over to you guys
  20. I've forgotten the relationship between Acc and To Hit... I know there's an interesting mechanic between the two but that would help to understand how much acc one needs to succeed in this game
  21. That helps! Again, thanks
  22. I have a lot to learn and to understand - but thankyou for the explanation. So... to distill this down to its essence, as I understand it (I still may not, fully so please bear with me and correct any errors) If I took Diamagnetic, it gives me -5% to hit on my opponents - of itself not very much, that's one attack in 20 that won't hit but it can stack up to 4 times in a team and that becomes significant -20% so one in five attacks will fail effectively. I'm going to muddy the waters further by quoting this example: 100% chance 13.3862 points of Fire damage (all affected targets) every 1.0s for 4.3s (0.0% chance) if !target.isFriend? && (@ForceHit || (@ToHitRoll < @ToHit)) (I appreciate we've not spoken about Interface Reactive at this stage) My question here is about the timing - it does damage every single second for 4.3 seconds. so it does 4 ticks. Why does it have an additional 0.3 seconds to its timing? I don't see the recharge time there but my presumption would be that even if it had a recharge time of 4.3 seconds it would have a minimum cast time and so it can still only tick 4 times in a single cycle.
  23. thanks for the explanation but I'm confused by this: https://gyazo.com/5f93d6b2054317d663d820898b3d0995 It seems to indicate that it's PVP only. I could be reading it wrong in which case I'd suggest CoD2's layout is counter intuitive? If that is the case though, is there no benefit in PVE?
  24. I think this is the issue: where are you getting these numbers from? I'd be very interested in knowing that.
  25. but the real question is how, and why? Interface seems kinda tricky in some ways - and there are some very serious questions to be asked about some of the powers there. Diamagnetic I'm looking at you in particular. What have you got to say for yourself? But the thing I find about Interface is that it doesn't have a natural home in the way that say Alpha or Hybrid does. It can be so many different things. Perhaps that's its beauty; it gives the player a raft of flexibility which isn't usual in this game (but I'm all for playing it your way) But given that few powers in this game are quite so free form that seems uncharacteristic and although laudable leaves us with a dilemma. What works well? Who does it work well with? Why does it work so well? Where does it fail? Is it possible to go wrong in choosing it? Given that there are serious questions about the actual function of Diamagnetic can we trust the other powers to do the same? (For reference in a different discussion away from here it does seem that there is strong evidence to suggest that Diamagnetic is not meeting its minimum standard of PVE functionality - I don't want to explain it in detail because I am in no way a numbers expert in this game and I am going on the data of others. But there seems to be a significant issue between the data in CoD2, and the actual gameplay stats.) If one of those powers is buggered, can we rely on others to do what they say? If you like playing in numbers in this game, feel free to conduct your own research. But my question remains: Interface's general flexibility suggests it should work fitting any power to any AT - depending on what you wish to achieve. If that is true, you potentially have a great deal of scope as a player - but do you really or do we find we funnel into a few choices?
